The broad-spectrum antibiotic Levaquin is not used to treat all forms of pneumonia. Only a bacterial infection in the lungs would respond to antibiotic treatments such as Levaquin. A doctor would need to confirm that the pneumonia is, in fact, caused by a bacterial infection before recommending this drug. Levaquin is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, not only those of the lung. Kidney, prostate, bladder and skin infections all respond well to Levaquin. Depending on the specific type of infection, a patient may receive one of the three forms of Levaquin; tablets, oral medication or as an injection.
