The antibiotic Levaquin can be used to treat ear infections resulting from a bacterial infection. Ear infections resulting from viral infections cannot be treated by Levaquin. Due to the possible severe side effects of Levaquin, most bacterial ear infections are treated with milder antibiotics such as amoxicillin. Levaquin is usually reserved for more severe or even life threatening illnesses and can also be used in the treatment of bacterial bronchitis, chlamydia, bacterial pneumonia, sinus infections and in some cases of Anthrax exposure.
