Researchers in Germany have determined that the prescription drug Humira have a small increased risk of developing shingles. Shingles is a painful skin rash caused by a virus (the same virus that causes chicken pox). A shingles rash can be characterized by small blisters with new blisters forming every three to five days. Each outbreak of blisters cause local pain and last for weeks at a time. Researchers have suggested that doctors take special precautions and monitor their patients on Humira for common signs and symptoms of shingles. The same researchers also recommend that anybody who is considering taking Humira get vaccinated for shingles.
