No doubt they can. Because the cataract is obstructing your vision, you have to strain your eyes to read or see and some people get headaches from doing that. Cataracts can be really thick or fairly thin but you are still trying to see through your eyes and you have to really use a lot of effort to do so. When I had cataracts on both eyes at the same time I didn't get many headaches and maybe because I didn't read much or do much close up work. The cataracts had me legally blind so yeah, they're not good.
