Is colon cancer life threatening?
Colon cancer is definitely life-threatening. It is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the US. That said, it is incredibly preventable and experts say that if it is caught before it has spread, it has a 90% survival rate.
We all need to do a better job of getting screened for colon cancer after the age of 50. It's not a pleasant procedure, only needs to be done every 10 years.
People who have a strong family history of colon cancer need to be screened earlier and more often.
