Can chemicals used on golf courses cause thyroid cancer?
Good question. Here's the thing. I don't think there is any solid evidence linking chemicals used on golf course and thyroid cancer. But there is certainly a lot of discussion about the potential for harm. Theoretically it seems feasible as exposure to environmental toxins is one of the risk factors. And there are certainly a ton of chemicals involved in keeping the greens well manicured. However, based on the evidence I've seen, I can't imagine that the casual golfer ought to worry about this. If you're a professional golfer, a green's keeper or a caddy, well, then it would be in the back of my mind. Again, this is just my opinion. I certainly don't claim to be an authority on chemicals used on golf course and thyroid cancer.
