Can cervical cancer run in the family?
You know, I have seen conflicting information on whether cervical cancer can run in a family. I think, largely, the answer is no. You do have to be exposed to the human papillomavirus to develop cervical cancer, so if you are never exposed, even if you have a family history of it, I don't think you would get it.
But, if you have been exposed, like so many of us, then if you have a family history, it seems you have a greater risk of developing cervical cancer from that exposure. I hope that answer was helpful and not confusing!
