My parents live with my brother in Joliet, IL and I don't know how to help him since I live in Dupage county. My dad became paralyzed from the neck down four years ago. He had an accident when visiting relatives outside USA and we were not able to transfer him back until a year ago. We had had lots and lots of stepping stones in getting help since we can't afford their expenses or their care and did not know what do to, until one of the many doctors told us about Medicare. Two months later, we had a new doctor! Now since my brother is being burned out I would like to help but don't know how. Medicare has been very helpful, except if my brother needs to go out of the house. When he brings them over my house, they immediately stops any services given saying that we must not need them????
My main questions is how can an arrangement be made so they can get help from two counties (Will and Dupage) without any conflicts? What are the steps to follow? Senior services are also great but we have the same situation as with Medicare. And how about caregiving services??? Mom is the main caregiver for dad. She takes care of him for ten hours until my brother gets home. But now for the past five months she has been suffering from fibromyalgia and she is not able to move him and believe me he is very, very heavy and has a lot of spasms. The therapist requested a mobile chair to do his therapy five months ago but his doctor is not cooperating in trying to get the chair so Medicare stopped his therapy. Please help us!
