Can a recent stroke patient go out on a sunny day?

My father had an ischemic stroke 3 months ago, and his recovery goes well. He is walking a bit with a walker, he is eating normally, going on a physical therapy 5 days a week. He always liked to stay on a direct sun, and now we were told that is not possible anymore. Your opinion please? Thank you very much!
