Can blood pressure medicine cause kidney cancer?
The causes of kidney cancer are not currently know. Researchers have seen a higher incidence of patients with high blood pressure, taking blood pressure medications, having kidney cancer but they have not determined if it is causal. Other risk factors for kidney cancer include family history, certain medications, gender (more often found in men), and race (more often found in African Americans). Smoking, drinking, weight, lifestyle and job hazards can also contribute to the increasing likelihood of getting kidney cancer. Treatment involves surgical removal of the kidney called a nephrectomy. The best advice would be to see your doctor for regular check-ups!
