Fortunately, anaplastic thyroid cancer is rare. I don't know the exact number of cases per year. But I know, for example, that last year there was 37,000 cases of thyroid cancer. And about 1 to 2 percent of those were anaplastic thyroid cancers. I'm no math whiz, but I think that amounts to about 370 to 740 cases.
