People who drink a lot of alcohol over a long period can develop dementia. What is alcohol induced dementia?

I’ve read different explanations. Some say it’s vitamin deficiencies from drinking See also:

so much alcohol, especially B vitamins, which sounds right. There is also a possibility of brain damage from drinking so much alcohol that can make people lose their ability to make good decisions and have memory problems.

Alcohol induced dementia is controversial in that some say it can be reversed and others say not. Likely that depends on when it is caught and the overall health of the person.

Alcohol induced dementia has other names like alcoholic dementia, alcohol induced psychotic disorder and alcohol induced mood disorder. I’ve read where it’s closely related with the Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome which is caused by long drinking and loss of vitamin B. What is alcohol induced dementia is complicated, but years of alcohol abuse do cause dementia symptoms.
