What is advanced bone cancer?
Advanced bone cancer is a condition where abnormal growth develops on the specialized bone tissue. If it is not treated, it will spread throughout other bones in the body. As it progresses, the bones become weaker due to the cancer eating away at the healthy bone tissues. This will result in bones being brittle and very easy to break. People with advanced bone cancer are likely to break their bones while performing daily tasks. Another symptom that will happen in the more advanced stages of bone cancer is paralysis. This will be due to the stress that the spinal cord undergoes because of the abnormal growth. This would eventually bring damage to the spinal cord which will result in loss of muscle control. Bone cancer will also travel to your lungs which will result in difficulty breathing. One type of treatment that will reduce the pain caused by bone cancer is called Osteoprotegerin. The overall survival rate of this cancer is close to 70%. Advanced bone cancer can be treated and survived but it must be treated as soon as possible in order to insure your best chances of surviving this condition. If you notice that your bones are weaker than normal or you are having difficulty breathing, it is best to check with your doctor if you might have an abnormal growth.
