69, Spouse in Nursing Home, had a heart attack 20 days after I got her in the home in 2006. Have been in cardio rehab (exercise program) and doing well since then and see my wife every day or two. The staff recommended that I start skipping days that I visited in order to allow her to make friends at the home and to give me the time to restore my health and decompress from the five years I took care of her before she entered the home. This routine has done wonders for both of us and I have been able to downsize to a one bedroom apartment which is more manageable for me. Her dementia is secondary to two massive hemorrhage strokes in 2002 not Alzheimer's.
