Hello! What a change! Going from a carefree lifestyle and exciting career in CA to taking care of parents in KY. It all started in CA when my husband got and lost the battle to cancer in 2003. His dying wish was that I return to KY where my family could "take care of me". Hah! Little did he know that I would be taking care of them! Sis and I took care of Dad from his stroke in 2006 til he passed this year. Mom lives independently but requires lots of help. She has health issues and doesn't drive (although she won't let us get rid of her car!). The good news is, I have a new husband and he is wonderful! He lost a spouse to cancer also and is no stranger to caregiving. We get to see our kids and grandkids - mine are in CA and his are in Boston - at least once or twice a year. Mom is becoming increasingly dependent, confused and manipulative. In some ways, Dad was easier; his care was more extensive but he always had a good attitude. My thoughts and prayers for those of you whose burdens are much heavier. May the Good Lord bless and keep you ~ Sue
