Bio
I am a long-term care specialist.
My concerns are twofold. First Medicaid is collapsing as a long-term care safety net for the poor. Second, the baby-boomer generation is asleep about long-term care because Medicaid has been the primary source of financing for the middle class also heretofore. Thus, we desperately need to save Medicaid for the needy by diverting the boomer generation to private financing alternatives like long-term care insurance and home equity conversion.
The problems we face won't go away. Inaction will make the problem worse, not better. This is a permanent problem, not a temporary one. These are hard issues. But they are harder today because we didn't face them yesterday, and they will be harder tomorrow because we're not facing them today. Our lack of candor makes them worse.
Plan early. Save. Invest. Insure.
