My Mother has a neuro-muscular disease (CIDP, related to Guillium Barre) and she also has essential tremors in her hands and her voice is shakey also. She has had two deep brain stimulation surgeries which have not worked, probably because of the CIDP. Her walking is so bad, even using her walker and she won't use the scooter and she refuses to go to assisted living. She relies on me for almost everything and I can't be there all the time.
My husband has a brain injury and suffers with migraines and I'm dealing with that also. Most of the time he's toast and no help - he's on disability. He is now having balance issues and more stomach problems. We dealt with diverticulitis several years ago. Anyway, mentally he's a mess and finally he might be on the right course, doctor/therapy wise, but it might be a little late to help his memory. The neurologist we saw in the beginning kept him on oxcycodone for years and he's finally off of that.
I work part-time and the afternoons I spend mostly in doctors offices with Mom or my husband. I am so burnt out and frustrated and want to run away. My kids 22 & 20 get to see their Dad constantly in bad shape and they need a break too.
My Dad died of Parkinson's in January 2009.
