My wife of 27 years (and best friend of 33 years) is suffering from Early Onset Alzheimers. My life is caring for her. She is to the stage where everything has become a challenge. Plus my mother is also suffering from Alzheimers. We had to put mom into Alzheimers care in October 2007 because I could no longer care for both of them on my own. I manage to visit her every day. And many days she doesn't remember who I am. I also find time to juggle an ever shrinking checkbook, clean and repair our decaying house, and look for new information about Alzheimer's research. I've learned a great deal about people during this termoil. Most people don't understand the caregiving problems we all encounter every day, many don't understand Alzheimer's, and most can't run away far enough, fast enough when you need help. There should be a web site called "Icouldn'tcareless.com". That's would be filled with all the people (family and friends) that always offer help but can't be bothered when you ask. Am I bitter? You bet! I could go on about who I've become. I welcome anyone to email me for a chat. I can't gaurantee when I'll get back to you. But I will.
