The main treatment for Parkinson's disease is a range of medications targeted to replenish, mimic, or enhance the natural dopamine that's lacking in the brain of someone with the disease. Drug effectiveness typically wears off over time, though, so it's important to know the warning signs. Other Parkinson's treatments include surgery, called deep brain stimulation (DBS), and alternative therapies, such as acupuncture and vitamin E.
