I am a friend or relative of a resident
Atria Valley Manor is a little oasis in the middle of busy Tucson, and is great for the somewhat less-than-independent crowd. They have spacious apartments on two floors available with enough room for all your favorite furniture and belongings. A central courtyard leads to their dining room, which offers a great selection of meals. The staff looks in on their residents, but gives them their much-needed privacy. The apartments are extremely well designed, and the outside walkways are nicely done with lots of flora. I have recommended this place to folks who are easing into the assisted living lifestyle change, and it is an excellent transition place for people who are coming from living in their own homes and not yet ready for more care.

Atria Valley Manor is a gorgeous facility. From the moment I walked in I felt very welcome. The atmosphere is inviting and the common areas are very open, spacious, and bright. There is a very comforting feeling and it feels like it would be a very peaceful, relaxing, and safe place to call home. The care team is outstanding. They offer such individualized attention to each resident and I could see that they truly care about the little details. During my visit, I overheard a conversation between a resident and one of the staff members. The resident was upset because her son was unable to make his weekly visit due to work, and the staff member seemed very empathetic. She talked to the resident about her son and their visits and she asked them about the types of things they do during their visits. The resident said that they talk and take walks and play games or read together. The staff member then told the resident how sorry she was to see her so disappointed and asked the resident if she would like to take a walk together to try and cheer her up. The resident happily agreed and off they went. I couldn't help but smile, it was great to see that the staff is so involved in the lives of their residents and I really like that they take the time to find ways to enhance and brighten the residents daily lives. It was getting late and I had a long drive home so I didn't get to visit as long as I would have liked, but as I was leaving I passed an area where the residents and visitors were participating in a type of laughing therapy or laughing yoga. The sounds of the laughter filling the corridor was amazing, the laughter was contagious and those who weren't laughing at least had smiles on their faces. I asked a staff member if this was a regular activity or just a one-time event. She told me that they hold the group regularly. I have heard of laughing therapy, but I have never seen a class in person. I think that it is absolutely brilliant to have this type of regular activity in an assisted living facility, because even if you are not participating in the group, the sound of the laughter alone will raise spirits and will bring about a cheerful environment for all. I really enjoyed my visit to Atria Valley Manor, I have only positive things to say about the facility, the staff, the residents, and everything else that makes Atria Valley Manor a success. Every aspect of this facility is first rate and I would highly recommend taking a tour.
