Brookridge Retirement is a continuing care. The staff is unbelievable. They have longevity and my mother-in-law has been there a long time, and they have followed her through the progression of her dementia and made sure she was in the correct level of care all along the way. It was small enough that she knew the people who were caring for her as she moved from one level of care to another. She is still with the physical therapist that she was so familiar with and the CNA when she moved into memory care. They have an extremely high ratio of caregivers. They only have ten memory care units and they have four nurses, and so they have kept her very happy. I've eaten there frequently and I think they really cater very well to whoever's there. The cafeteria personnel are incredibly caring and really going the extra mile. Before they put her in memory care, we met with seven different professionals, people with the PHDs and masters. The activities director was there, the dietitian, the speech therapists, and physical therapists. They have programs set for her for the nurses to execute, and I think the activities given to her were appropriate for whatever state she has been in, including when she was in the independent living. In the memory care they have drawings, paintings, a kitchen set up for them to work in, and just a variety of things. It's tailored to each individual resident. Like my mother-in-law can no longer draw or paint or do that kind of thing, so they have other things that she can do. It's not a one-size fits all. I think, price wise, they're very reasonable.

We went to look at Brookridge Retirement. The staff took us to an open room. She told us we could go down to the gym where they did physical therapy, but we didn't go down there. We saw the room and the hallways. They were also doing construction on the main section and making it nicer. The room was nice. They had a nice closet area to put the stuff in. From what I heard, the staff was new at her job. She was nice and friendly, but not as informative as the lady at the other facility. The facility smelled and looked fresh and clean.

This is a gorgeous campus, safe, friendly, and with good nursing care. The main building could be a bit more bug-free, but that's not my reason for giving it only 2 stars. I became a resident because Brookridge advertises itself as a Christ-centered Baptist home. In practice, it's neither. It is like all other non-church affiliated CCRCs. If you're looking for a Christ-centered environment in which to spend your final days, this is not the place. You, as a resident, will be told that talking about your "religion" (Christian beliefs) is not acceptable - and, indeed, you'll not be permitted to discuss your faith. If you wish to start a Bible study, you'll be told that "you can start one in your apartment" but that "Brookridge will not sponsor nor advertise it in their weekly calendar, newsletter, etc." Instead there are secular socials centered around alcohol, both on campus and various entertainment. The worship opportunities provided are liberal in approach. or off-campus. As a former resident, I feel that I should caution anyone looking for a Christian community with openness about one's faith and fellowship centered on Christ and Christian beliefs, that Brookridge is not the place. Although they are lovely, caring people, the current staff have no concept of what this means. If you're just looking for a good CCRC, Brookridge may be for you.

This is a wonderful place to live. The maintenance staff is always willing to put together furniture, hand pictures and check on potential problems. The dining room serves appealing and a variety of food and the wait staff always tries to please the residents. On campus is a physical therapy group with wonderful physical therapists. The surroundings are beautiful and garden homes for independent living are spacious. The people residing at Brookridge are encouraged to have input into the various aspects of living. A resident council keeps in touch with the staff and makes recommendations for change. There are numerous activities to enjoy both away from campus and on campus. The costs of living are not as high as some other groups who offer all levels of care. A positive is four levels of care; health care which provides nursing care, memory care, assisted living and independent living. The community is located close to grocery stores, banks, restaurants and the post office. Medical personnel visit for the convenience of those who cannot drive and there is transportation to medical appointments available as well for a fee. We have resided here for two years and have no complaints.

I visited Brookridge Retirement two years ago where my father-in-law was. It seems to be staffed properly in the memory care unit. Everything was in good working order and up to date. I would say that the community is in good shape. The dining area and food is good. For institution food, it is better than most. The staff is very attentive, helpful and pleasant. I like the setting. It was actually in a forest so it's very private. All the facilities were in very good shape. We were paying a premium, but it was definitely worth it. If I ever had to go to one, I would want to pick this place because it's a good choice.

My mother lives in the Healthcare building on the 7th floor. The current staff, with the exception of a couple people, aren't very personable or interactive with the patients. Needs more upbeat employees who don't have ghetto attitudes.
