I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is now at ManorCare Health Services - Tice Valley. Kaiser was the one who pushed her here for physical therapy, and then she wasn't able to go back to the home, so we decided to just keep her there. The care is good. The staff is attentive. They listen to me because my mother can't really speak for herself. They're pretty good. They provide good meals, but she's on hospice, so she's not eating, but it looks nutritious for her. Her room is old, but it's adequate. They have an outdoor patio area for families to visit. They have been responding to my questions.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing Marie! We are glad to hear you were happy with your mother's care and that you thought we treat our patients with dignity and respect.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I had a friend in short-term care at ManorCare Health Services - Tice Valley twice. The facility was nice and clean, they're hospitable, and the accommodations were good. He was there for a long time, and that was the only problem. His room was pretty spacious, and he got room for his personal belongings. It was double occupancy and it had an ample size bathroom. It had two TVs, a nightstand, and it was spacious enough to have his wheelchair in there and a chair. They had a pretty lenient building visiting schedule. They also allowed him to leave the facility. At one point they made arrangements for some of his appointments, but not all of them. They were able to accommodate him that way. The meals were OK. He didn't really complain about the food, but they also allowed based on his diet for me to bring him food. The staff was friendly and approachable.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing Yolanda! We are glad to hear our staff worked so well with you loved one and provided such great accommodations while they stayed with us.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad was in ManorCare Health Services-Tice Valley for rehab. They were understaffed, the rooms were not up to par as far as I was concerned, and he didn't really get good care there. He ended up getting a bladder infection and they called us to say that they had to transport him back to the hospital. Then I found out that they had called an ambulance because ManorCare couldn't deal with him and he almost died there. I wasn't thrilled with them at all. He had some therapy there, but it wasn't a big deal because it was only the first week after he broke his hip. They didn't give him a lot of therapy, just 15-30 minutes a day. Their health practices were really poor. I had a friend who worked there. She was a CNA, but she worked in the kitchen. She quit the job because she said that they had a COVID case in there and the trays that were given to the COVID patients that were supposed to be thrown away were going back into the kitchen. Within a couple of days 13 people had it, and last I heard they had 130 people that had COVID in the nursing center. They were not following procedure, which is horrible. Out of the 130 cases, 30 of them were employees that contracted COVID, and this was after coronavirus has exploded.

Provider Response

Ken, we are sorry that you had a negative experience with your father's care at our center. We understand your anxiety and frustration with COVID-19. We do have training around infection control and proper PPE usage to manage and contain the virus in the center. In most cases it is brought into the center and does not originate with the patients. This is why we have employees wearing PPE during care and while handling food trays or other items. We will ensure that the leadership of the center is aware of your concerns and checking our protocols.

My mother has been a resident of Manor Care Tice for years. The care and overall facility has been excellent. She enjoys bingo andother social events. Recently, the facility has received negative reviews. I was very surprised since I visit mom twice a week and t it has been excellent. I intend to have her stay here. She has been negative for on Covid testing. The nursing staff and others have been very prompt when I have had a reason to phone them. I also am an RN.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing Mary! We are glad to hear you were happy with your mother's care and that she has found such a welcoming environment to heal and stay active and that our staff has provided excellent care for you loved one.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife is now at Manorcare at Tice Valley. Sometimes the staff members get stretched a little thin but for the most part, it is a 5-star place. The place is very clean. The staff members are very nice. They have been trained to smile at everybody. I have eaten a few guest meals there and the food is excellent. The grounds are nice. There are fresh linens in the dining room, and they do a nice job about group disabilities. They keep the people together so that means that the care can become more consistent. Although my wife doesn't participate in activities, they appear to be very extensive everything from ice cream social, to bingo, and to zumba. The staff members are very pleasant. They're always there to help. If residents are struggling with something like opening a door or pushing a wheelchair, the staff members immediately come to your assistance.

Provider Response

Thanks for sharing, Bob! We are glad to hear your felt our center was a 5-star place and our staff members were very nice. Also that you found our staff to always be there to help when any of our patients or residents needed it.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My dad is now in a nursing home facility, which is the Manorcare Tice Valley. I found the staff to be very nice, but their diabetes diet is not healthy and care is very poor. Even the provisions are not very good.

Very professional & clean facility. My mother has been here several times in the past couple of years, and each time the experience has been the same - no complaints.
