Beth Sholom Home of Eastern Virginia

This facility is heavily financed by the local Jewish community. We are not Jewish but we were very impressed with the homey feel of the facility. It was modern and had a beauty salon, great menu and all of the rooms were private. The rooms were large. They had a gift shop and had a high nurse to patient ratio. It was very clean and they had an assisted living facility that was attached to their rehab facility. My mother was transported there after her knee replacement. She had fantastic care and it was quiet and the nurse's were very attentive. I was able to stay with her for two nights when we had a local hurricane come through. They did not charge me for staying there and did not even charge us for my meals. Her linens were changed every day and if she called one of them they were there within one minute. They had a gift shop for their guest. They had a bird atrium and a chapel on the premises. After my mother left and came home they called to follow up on her.

On the long term care hall patients are put in chairs and just left in the main sitting area for long periods of time. On some days it resembles One Flew Over The CooCoo's Nest instead of a loving place for your loved one! Very very SAD!
