I visited this facility

My grandpa is a patient here and while he is not doing well physically, the care he is receiving is outstanding. I came in today from out of town and the staff that work here are really great! My grandpa says he likes living here and thats what matters to us most. That he is cared for and taken care of.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband moved into Tower Hill Healthcare Center. The nurses and social workers are very caring and understanding. He has a sundowning in the afternoon and they know how to handle that. I'm very happy and pleased with him being there. They're always cleaning there. After the meal hours, they clean the dining room immediately. The rooms are clean, the bathrooms and showers are clean, and everything is fine. It's a brand-new unit that they just opened, and they're doing everything they're supposed to as far as the memory care unit goes. The staff is exceptional and very patient, they understand the illness, and are very helpful. If I call them, no matter what time of the day, they always give me the time and never brush me off. I'm very happy with the staff. My husband says the food is good. They have activities, he has physical therapy, and they play some games with the dementia people.

I beg those that are interested in this home to stay away. Do not be swayed by their website and facade behind those pleasing photos. My mother in law was a resident. She was exposed to and died due to Covid ravaging her already sickened immune system and frail body. The place shut down to avoid another 94+ outbreak of Covid in 2020. We were not allowed to see our mother FOR MONTHS. When the holidays came in 2021, the facility opened and allowed Omicron to ravage again. I have nothing against the staff and hardworking medical stuff but we were NOT allowed to take our mom home for Christmas because she had 2 scheduled tests, that we were not told about ahead of time. IT WAS CHRISTMAS! So we picked her up the following day. We were all vaccinated. Then come after New Year. We receive a call that she had fallen. Not new but odd that it happened frequently under supposed care. The next call we receive is NOT from Tower Hill Healthcare (but we do receive calls regards to upping anxiety medication, falls etc. We had to ask about Covid, to which we were told that she tested NEGATIVE on 1/03, to which a nurse says she had been exposed but results were not in on 1/9.) The call is from local hospital, St. Joseph on 1/11/22 informing us that mom's condition is grave and decision must be made. She died 1/12 after spending the day after Christmas and New Years eve with us, fine. Frail but walking, breathing as she had been to death by lung, heart and kidney failure exacerbated by Covid due to exposure by roommate. Tower Hill did not call us until 1/15 and dropped the final bill of 20k. Please do not go here. No hate towards staff but please think twice before just leaving your lovedone to be left in a room with other elders, bately supervised. Having elders half asleep in wheelchairs in halls on their own due to short staffing. Don't make our mistake. We were too late as this all happened in a span of a year. We were unprepared to pay, to handle such a change for our mother. Please choose a better place. A good place. Sincerest regards.

So this place is terrible. They only call you when they have an issue. My dad tested positive for Covid 19 today and I found out by calling them. They did not call me to inform he he positive and was being transferred to another room. They also like to play phone tag bouncing you to other depts. and no one picks up or calls you back. He been there 2 months and its more stress on him as well as the family because of extremely poor communication regarding his health. Look somewhere else if your loved one needs a skilled nursing home.

We decided on Tower Hill Healthcare Center in South Elgin for my father. It's a nursing home and he moved in last week. So far, they've been great. They update us on anything that they notice about my father. Because of COVID, I didn't get to meet any staff. They were kind of very strict right now, so they're not very open. The person I worked with to get him in there and with the financial part was good though. I didn't have to do anything, she pretty much did everything so she was excellent. The place is just like a quiet little community within the residences. It's so quiet and peaceful. The whole application process was pretty easy, it's self-explanatory, and they pretty much do a majority of the work for you. You don't have to do a lot of research or financial research about things. They pretty much help you with all of it so that you don't have to worry about it.

We have been beyond please with Tower Hill. The facility is on the older side but appearances should not mean anything when care is concerned. My loved on what received great care from the staff. They treat her with kindness, compassion and dignity and more like family then a patient. They have a variety of activities to keep her busy and keep her mind active. She has met friends there and talks about some of the nurses, caregivers and therapy staff that she really likes. We would recommend Tower Hill!

Nobody "wants or looks forward to" putting their parents in a nursing home. Lauren answered every question, never lost her patience, or ever made me feel anything but welcome. I called MANY times. The staff is friendly and very experienced. They were only in there for 3 hours and put together a pain management and plan. The management visited them and gave an orientation to make them feel welcome. They get to be together and can grow together in their new journey. It's difficult during the pandemic, but they have made the transition smooth. My father in law was here and we loved the staff so much, we returned with my mom and dad.

Our family has been very pleased with Tower hill. Our family member has been there for over 5 years. The staff is outstanding. Very genuine in their desire to do what is best for their patients.

This facility is a bit on the older side but they staff to a great job at keeping the facility and rooms clean. The staff are so friendly and accommodating from the maintenance/housekeepers all the way to the management. There is a lot going on in the facility every day to keep the residents active. We just joined the staff for a lovely holiday party. This facility is very reasonable in pricing and includes everything. Room, furniture, linens, laundry service, nursing care.... it is all included in the daily rate. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a great place for their parent or spouse.

My mother was in Tower Hill Healthcare Center for a month, and it was deplorable. There's nothing of good quality there, the physical appearance was okay. They had a great courtyard, they're boasting about it, but it's deceiving, because it's always locked, and patients were locked in and can't go outside. It's on the dirty side, you just don't want to touch anything, everything feels grimy, dirty, and it's not a clean place. The staff is way overworked. Their intentions were good, but they can't meet the patients' needs, and they're just overwhelmed. The beds and furniture were old. It was less expensive, but you get nothing.

I visited this facility

My husband has been a resident at Tower Hill for about four months. He has special needs and Tower Hill is listening to my concerns and assisted him with accommodations to improve his long-term care. He has nurses and aides that treat him with respect and dignity. The therapy department does a great job. The speech therapist has found some techniques that are making great improvements. We chose the doctor on staff and she has been extremely attentive. The restorative nurse has also been very helpful in getting residents proper equipment and making new residence transitions from home to skilled care seamless. One area they could use some improvements are the meals. My husband had been a resident of another facility after falling last year but I have found Tower Hill‘s Services to be far superior.

I didn't have any complaints about Tower Hill during the time my husband was there. The staff was very good, and the place was very clean. I thought their dining area was fine. He had a fine, shared room with a hospital bed. They granted everything that I requested.

They do everything from rehab to long-term care at Tower Hill. So far, it has been very positive. They seem to be taking very good care of him, and they notify me whenever they have to change anything like his medication. In one case, he did something that involved putting a bandage on, and they didn't want me to panic, so they called and told me that something had happened that day, that it was just a minor thing, that they were treating it, and stuff like that. Today, they called me to say, "We just changed his room back to the one he had before," in which I was glad because it is a nicer room. It seems like a pretty decent place, and the price is more reasonable than anything around here in McHenry. The dining area seems nice, and every time I've been there, the food looks really quite good, and it smells good. I haven't been there at all the meals obviously, but the ones that I have been to seemed good. Unfortunately, my poor husband seems to have lost the ability to chew his food recently, so now they are giving him the food in its pureed form, and even then they have to make sure he swallows. So he's having some problems there, but I won't say it is anything to do with them. I think they're dealing with it the best they can.

My parents are in Tower Hill Healthcare Center. It is close to where my bother and I live. My mom went there first and my dad followed after rehab. They are accommodated in one room which is really nice. It is clean and has enough room for them. The staff there is really great. They are very caring and compassionate. My dad cannot get up on his own and they are very prompt when he needs help and when we need him for a couple of appointments, they help out by making him ready to go when we get there. They have a lot of activities that my mom goes to. I am happy with where they are at. It would be nice if they had a sheltered area outside so they wouldn't get wet when they have to ride the van when it is raining. I definitely recommend this facility to others.
