I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad has been at Broadmoor for about a month for rehab.. he will require long term care and have decided to keep him in the residential side of the facility. Everyone has been so good and accommodating to my dad. This place has been like family to both my dad and I.

They put on a good show, and the place LOOKS nice and fancy, but PLEASE DON'T let that fool you!! They did not give my mom great care AT ALL. She arrived at 2 pm after being in the hospital for 6 days(ICU for 4½ days & 1½ regular room). The nurse NEVER showed up with her meds despite pushing the call light. Thankfully, my sister decided to stay with her and documented everything they failed to do, including: checking vitals, checking blood sugar meds, bringing her medications when needed, and failing to respond to the call light MULTIPLE times. Thankfully, my sister was able to help her to the restroom (she was/is a fall risk) or she would have either fallen or soiled herself and been stuck without help. So after NUMEROUS oversights, mistakes, and red flags, we ultimately decided it was in our mother's best interest to take her home and seek home health care and care for her ourselves. I truly wish I'd read the reviews on this place BEFORE my mom was rushed over there (they'd originally said she wouldn't go until Monday) on Saturday at 2pm. I hope you will seriously think about and consider all of the comments. I've been in 2 rehabilitation centers myself in the DFW area, and both were 4.5-5 star! So they ARE out tgere. PLEASE do your due diligence! For the sake of your loved one. Also, I'd like to say that there were very nice staff members. They were either very understaffed or not trained or both!

My husband is at Broadmoor Medical Lodge and so far, our experience has been good. I think a lot of the staff, anytime I have questions or suggestions or anything, are always right there to help me with my answers or to make things the way I want them. My husband's room is large and he has another bed in his room (it's not a single room), and I think he'll be happier when he gets a roommate. The food is delicious. I love it. They make chicken and rice there, and he loves that. When I was there one day, they were having karaoke, and that was fun. All of them were enjoying that, and then they had a beer float. So, they do some things to make the activities fun for them.

This is the second time our mother (92 yrs old) has been fortunate to receive the skilled care of the Broadmoor Medical Lodge staff. The first was 3 years ago for a lesser injury. This time was more serious with a more challenging recovery. My family cannot praise enough the experienced and compassionate staff - from the welcoming hostess, to the gracious housekeeping who quickly attended to our mother’s needs, to the nurses, the physical therapist, the occupational therapist, to the speech therapist, to the bathing attendant, and the Director. Our mother was discharged today after 3 weeks of exemplary medical care. All our requests were met timely and compassionately. Our mother is feisty and sometimes can be uncooperative. Still, the staff was patient with her and made sure that she understood what was best for her recovery. We did not give this lovely center a 5 star due to necessary Covid restrictions which made it a bit more challenging for everyone. For example, prior to Covid the center had delicious snacks including a soft ice cream machine. This was the least of our worries! Kudos to Broadmoor! With much gratitude to all.

My dad was at Broadmoor Medical Lodge for full care rehab. They did a good job. My dad got a standard room and the staff was wonderful. The whole facility was nice and clean.

Broadmoor Medical Lodge was really good. They did well. The food was good too. My mom just had a little problem with a young girl that showered her, but it could have been my mother's fault. I had to talk to all three of us to find out what was wrong. She seemed to think that they showered her with cold water and didn't treat her very well. I'm not sure of that because she's picky here at the house too. When the hospice girls came to shower her, she said it's too hot or too cold. I don't know if that was something that they could have improved. There was only one lady that was at the main desk that sits where the computers are and stuff. I'm not quite sure what her title is, but she was not friendly at all. She didn't say anything. She didn't ask if you needed help or anything. She just stared at you, and then went on her way so that bothered me. She could at least smile and say, "Can I help you?" Everything else was good. It was clean, and it smelled good. They had a person that came there all the time to cut people's hair. I made appointments to get my mom down there. She ate in her room, and they cleaned the rooms every day. They gave her insulin and they checked her sugars before every meal. When she was there, she was doing rehab. She still could walk a little bit with a little pushcart, and they would take her down to the gym and have her do some little exercises. They got her to where she would walk more to keep walking further and further all the time. It's all in the same building. The halls on the other side, I think, are for all the nursing home residents. One lady nurse got there early, and my mother's an early riser. She would go and get my mom a cup of coffee early and bring it to her. She really liked that.

I wanted to like it. The facility is beautiful and well kept but that's about all it has going for it. They are short staffed and most of the staff they have are not interested in the patients. A patient said she didn't feel right. The nurse said I dont have time for this. Another asked for her meds (it was time). The nurse shook her head and never came back. They administered the incorrect meds causing a very serious reaction. Then completely forgot meds for 24 hours. Forgot meals three times that I am aware of. They lost a patient. Admitted to ignoring the alarm. Gave out the alarm code to patients and guest (yes I have it). You can hear the staff complaining about one another while standing outside patients rooms. They have an activities board but no activities are done. Did i mention the meds? That's deadly.

Our mother was admitted to the rehab and then long term care. She was placed in a room and totally forgotten!! Other residents would comment that our mother was forgotten and not being taken care of by not being fed or receiving her meds or gotten out of bed. The facility lost her teeth, her clothes, and were constantly rude and oblivious to what was going on and by who. By the time we were able to transfer our mother to another facility, she had lost 40 pounds and was transferred in a coma and non-responsive. She had to be immediately taken to the hospital after leaving Broadmour and died one week later of malnutrition, sepsis, and dehydration. If I had personally treated a family member like this, I would be in jail under criminal charges awaiting trial! Please DO NOT place your family member in this facility as they will be forgotten, neglected/abused and decompensate rapidly! Don't buy the lie that they are short-staffed or because of COVID as they can ask for assistance from the state to care for their residents.

Staff is negligent and lets residents sit in their dried feces. Staff is rude and does not care to help or even offer sympathy. I wish I had known sooner what I know now. This place has no business taking care of anyone.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have a family member that has been a resident since 2018. There are numerous care facilities across our country. When we looked at selecting a place to care for our loved one, we reviewed the pros and cons to all. There was nothing that fit the word perfect in any facility. We found Broadmoor at the top of our list after careful evaluation and prayers. Even though there is always room for improvement, we found the staff to be responsive to our needs when we communicate on a regular basis. We also noticed an improvement in our family members health and well being. It was also important for the facility to have a place of worship and discovered they had church services every Sunday as well as Bible study during the week. I would say overall that Broadmoor is better than average. During these most challenging days around the world, we are praying for the residents and the staff. My ratings will be based on our family member at Broadmoor, our observation and communication with the staff.

My grandmother was at this facility. I was there almost all day with her and I only saw them feed her once and never saw them get her water.. and numerous times had to go find the nurse because they were not answering her button calls. Then at one point she was CHOKING. It took almost 5 minutes for anyone to come. I get that it’s 5 minutes - but that’s only because since I was able to walk, I could go find someone. If my grandmother had been alone, not being able to walk or talk, she could’ve choked to death. She had a UTI and the next day we had to take her to Presby where they found out she was SEVERELY dehydrated. NO WONDER.. they hadn’t given her water the entire time I was there. Presby said NOT to take her back.

This place will allow your loved to not be changed for hours. Sometimes over 10 hours at a time. If they do blood work, you dont get any answers for days and that's if you are lucky. The head nurse will say she will get on it but do nothing. I had someone there around the clock with my father and can only imagine how much worse it could be if not.

This is by far the most friendly facility I have been in. I credit their amazing nurses for my grandmothers quick recovery from heart failure. The nursing staff is knowledgeable and so very helpful. The facility is always clean and smells wonderful. They even have fresh baked cookies everyday. The outside area is AMAZING. It will be the only place we go to.

My father was admitted here after having a leg surgery. The staff did not take care of him or his healing wounds. After less than a week he had to be rushed back to the hospital to have his wounds reopened and cleaned. They had become that infected after the staff neglected to take the proper care and clean them. His surgeon even called and gave specific instructions on treating the wounds and this still happened. I would never recommend anyone check themselves or a loved one in here.

My brother has been there for 2 years now. This is the 3rd facilty he has been in and they have been the only one that would assist us with permanent placement. Reading some of the other reviews I can see where there may have been miscommunication about procedures. A facility cannot give out equiptment or allow other activities until an assessment has been given. Staffing is always going to be an issue at any facility you go to. There is always high turnover, even in the expensive fancy facilities. Pay will always be an issue and this is hard physical work. So while we want our family member to be a special priority, you sometimes just have to be patient. They have many other patients to assist.

This place has a 5 Star rating and boasts never having had a deficiency from the health department. Don't let that fool you. They don't provide care for your loved one, they don't properly assess the patient's needs. What they do is document actions that aren't really happening. This place is no better, and likely worse, than other facilities. It's really awful when your family member is dirty and in pain and the staff just make excuses! Horrible place!!!!

Upon arriving with family to the facility everything was great. We got to the facility got in my husbands room who is sometimes confused and just had hip surgery. He was dirty and needed to be changed. We were asked to wait till the nurse could do their assessment. So not to move him around too much. We waited a hour!! And in between this time the. Nurse went to lunch! I asked for my husband to be changed again the aide stated that they were short staffed that she will try to get someone to help change him. Now a hour later my husband was changed. The rehab thereapy wee amazing. And bless the swat aides heart she worked all week on the hall by herself. I asked her if this happened offten she said just about everyday. This is sad this is a beautiful facility and talked up so much to us at the hospital. We were in the facility for 90 days. Nothing ever got any better. The food was cold when it got to my husband. And drinks were never offered except for during meals. The nurses and aidss hang out at the nurses station talking about how bad things are there for family all to hear. I will not recommend this facility to anyone. Unless you want a very stressful stay and don't want your family to be taken care of properly

My stepdad entered this facility for Rehab on Friday. It was a horrible experience and my mom took him out 2 days later. They didn't have his medicine, refused to give him a walker until he was evaluated and my mom asked another person and they gave him one, but the wheel was bent and it pulled to the right. He had knee replacement surgery and was promised by this facility he would have therapy everyday and no therapy was given. First night he asked for help to the restroom and nurse said when I finish with the man that was in the other bed and he told him he could not wait because the hospital had given him medicine to help his kidneys act, so he got up and went by himself and fell in the restroom. He was black and blue the next day from the fall. When asked for an icepack they said they didn't have one. He was not put in a Rehab section, he was put in a room with a man that talks to himself and wears diapers. We asked for a T.V. remote and never received one. Dividing room curtain was soiled.

Very close friend of mine is currently in Broadmoor Medical Lodge. I and her family are very pleased with the nursing home and their staff as a whole. She first went for what was thought to be a short time but it did not work out that way, Now it is where she calls home. I visit her often and she always is well cared for. Her needs are met and we could not be more pleased.

My grandmother was admitted to Broadmoor for rehab. She received excellent care. The therapists were absolutely wonderful with her. Especially Amber! Once she completed rehab we decided to have her stay for long-term care. She was treated like a family member and I couldn't ask for anything more. Samantha is the most loving, caring CNA I have ever met!

My dad was admitted for rehabilitation services for a total knee replacement. Therapy services are not provided on Sunday (I think the Good Lord would want my dad to get healing support). He asked for pain meds on his first morning but had to ask 3 different staff members, and he finally received his prescribed meds after 3 hours. The nurse on duty explained, "I wasn't there." When I asked that my dad not be placed in this situation again, he walked off. Aide staff commented that I should have pressed harder. Despite that kernel of support, aide staff impressed as extremely unprofessional and marginally competent. I could offer specific examples, but I fear it will dilute my overall review. That said, I purchased a cell phone for my dad because, despite all sorts of efforts to encourage independence, phones will not call out of state. Oh, and I took a photo of the nursing station with one staff member on her cell phone and another openly sleeping, at 12 noon. Beautiful grounds, really sub-par medical, nursing, rehab services. Unanswered call buttons on all wings. God forbid you ask what the beeping's about...

Such a beautiful facility, too bad they have the most HORRIBLE CARE! Took my father in for therapy to get stronger and go home. After TWO weeks he continually got WORSE until we had to RETURN him to the HOSPITAL. Waited 45 minutes or longer to get help to go to the bathroom daily. No water (or anything) to drink except with meals. Gave him medication he was not supposed to have due to severe reactions after being told not to. Overworked and under staffed aids and nurses. One sleeping in therapy area due to overwork. My father developed pneumonia as a result of their inadequate care. He was on oxygen and they came in to give him a breathing treatment at night, found mask on table, hose in drawer and machine still running the next day. The administrator Mr. Black did nothing to help and did not care. Please if you love someone do not take them to this facility!

Broadmoor was a beautiful facility. The dining room was very nice. It was well set up, and it was very beautiful. They did give us an activity list like dominos, movie nights, and sport nights. The people that we dealt with were super nice, and they seemed to really care about my mother. They didn't have a room available when we needed it. Had they had an availability, we probably would have put my mother there. We really liked that place.

Terrible facility. Took my husband home after three days. Very neglectful. Never offered any water other than to take meds. Not one glass. Breakfast was 1 tbs of scrambled eggs with 1 piece of bacon. Nothing else. Spilled orange juice. Left floor sticky. Had to ask for cleanup. Brought him food (which was allowed) and would not give to him! Ask for help to urinate. Never came. Sat in urine for 3-1/2 hrs and still would not change til after he ate

I recently put my husband at Broadmoor Medical Lodge. He had cancer and I found the staff to be attentive and caring not only for him but my family as well as my self. The aides were quick to meet his needs. PT department was faithful to work with him daily. I felt everyone provided excellent care and communication. When he had to go to the hospital for a procedure even the hospital staff was complimentary of their expertise and care. I can't say enough thank you's to the staff. Even though he lost the battle with the cancer he felt loved and cared for.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I went to the hospital and the ER doctor recommended Broadmoor Medical Lodge and it had been great. It's a skilled nursing facility. The rooms are pretty nice and new. They have a church service, bible studies and bingo. Some kids' groups come here to sing. The services are excellent. They do all those things like vital signs and blood pressure and give our medicine to ourselves so I really don't have to do anything.
