I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother in law was a patient at this facility, when she began to decline the staff there did little to intervene despite the fact she was a Full Code. Her respiratory status declined, staff never thought to do a chest x-ray or speech evaluation to see if she was aspirating. We had multiple meetings requesting a dental consult for missing teeth and a medication decrease due to her increased lethargy, never did management follow through. She was left in bed with trays of food, the bed not elevated and no supervision despite management reassuring us that would not happen. As a family we decided to involve an outside Hospice, that nurse found our loved one unresponsive with a low oxygen level, that day we tried to speak with a supervisor. The unit manager, director of nurses and administrator were all off that day. Not a single person in charge. At that time the lack of care was obvious and we immediately took her out of the facility. I would not recommend this facility unless you are prepared to be there around the clock to watch your loved one.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Unless you are planning on spending every minute of the day with your loved one at this place, take my advice, DO NOT send them here! Constantly short staffed and very untidy(garbage always flowing over the trash cans, sinks and toilets not wiped down in a timely manner, to mention a few) My mother was brought in for rehab after a hip replacement surgery. No greeting until over an hour of her laying in the bed after being brought in by ambulance. Thank goodness I was with her. They were too busy giving out meds I was told by the lead nurse who never even introduced herself as so. Bed pans being left under her after she was able to go to the bathroom with some assistance but they were either too lazy or too busy to take her. My mother has stage 3 kidney disease. No water was given to her at any meals, either ginger ale or coke was given..disgraceful! If she didn't eat her meal, they just took the tray never offering another choice or questioning another staff member their concerns...why because they were too busy and again understaffed! Waiting anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes to go pee. So maybe my mother would have walked out of there with their physical therapy, but she would have walked into dialysis if I left this up to them. Or she would have ended up with bed sores or something worse. Thank goodness my family and I were there through all the meals to make sure she ate if not their food we had our own to offer her, which they were not aware of and frankly didn't care. And we got her water throughout the day or she would have more issues then when she got there. I gave them a week to step up to the plate with multiple conversations of concern and it wasn't until I was pulling her did the director call me to give another chance..NO WAY EVER!!! My mother is lucky she has a voice, ME. The poor others I saw day after day just left in the hallways begging for a drink and to go to the bathroom, my heart goes out to all of them!

I loved this facility. That staff are warm and friendly! I really enjoy how if ever had a question, I could easily go to anyone without any issues. I am having my loved one coming back! Thank you for all you do!

The food is always cold, not properly cooked, and not appetizing. The Health Aides can be nasty and impatient at times. Majority of the staff does not seem to care about the patients.

My Mom has been at the Lighthouse for a little over a year. She is very comfortable and happy. She is an Alzheimer patient and this is a place where she feels safe and has a schedule which makes her feel secure. When we take her out on occasion she asks when we will be taking her back. Her roommate is her best friend now. The place is very clean and so is my Mom. The staff on the whole is very very good. The Aides are the best. I know it is a very hard job to deal with the elderly on a day to day basis. There are a few who could be a little more compassionate or maybe look for another job. My Mom receives excellent care and attention so I have no complaints. The food isn't the greatest but it is sure better than meals on wheels that the elderly receive when still at home! Just like anywhere some days the food is really good and some days just average. But my Mom is physically doing very well and her diet is fine. It's just the darn Alzheimer...

I am a friend or relative of resident

I have experienced this facility a few times over the past 2 years. It saddens me that there is no accountability in a lot of these places. The facility is clean, although it does usually smell when you walk in, floors are always clean and no rodents running around unlike other facilities. The staffing could be better. There are very few nurses and aides here that understand what compassion is. We experienced a few maybe 3 staff that were genuinely kind and compassionate. Some nurses are cold and talk down to you, difficult to get a straight answer to questions. Our laundry went missing and no matter how many times we asked they did not care, there was always an excuse. Food was not good. Pastrami sandwich and French fries for dinner is awful. The receptionist were very pleasant always smiling. Unfortunately if you have to be here you really need to remind staff that these are elderly sick people who need compassionate care and always stay on top of things because they may not.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother has been to Lighthouse Nursing Care Center a number of times for rehabilitation and she got to know the people that work there who have been there a long time. She likes it there and they like her. It's perfect because it's very close to home. She has been there four times over the past four years. They give very nice care. She really liked the staff, the physical therapist, nurses and medical assistants. They were good to her, and they've been so helpful to me too. Their office staff was very good; I like them.

I visited this facility

Lighthouse is very, very nice. It is a small place but everybody there is very nice. Everyone is treated like family. The facility is nice and clean. It is also cheery and bright. It used to be an old hospital that was converted to a nursing home. They have a nice patio where they take their patients out on the nice days, even those who are limited in their beds. The nurses are absolutely wonderful. They're very caring toward everyone there and everyone is treated the same. They do have activities for their patients. They bring in entertainers. They have exercise classes, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. Even patients who are confined to their beds can also participate in some of their activities. They allow dogs in there for their patients.

I visited this facility

I recently visited a resident at Lighthouse Nursing Care Center. In general, I thought Lighthouse Nursing Care Center was excellent. The grounds of the facility are well kept. The center is located on a main road in Revere, MA and is easily accessible by car. Across the street is a large parking lot available for visitor parking. When entering the facility there is someone at the door to greet you, sign you in, and direct you where to go. There is a common area as you walk past the front desk and this area is always full of residents sitting in chairs with their walkers or wheelchairs. This area can be a bit startling at first; however, the residents always look happy, clean, and are eager to greet you as well. The staff and management of the facility are responsive. Upon going to the nurse's station on the second floor, I was immediately greeted warmly and given assistance to find a resident. There were also residents out utilizing the common areas on the second floor. The shared residents' rooms are comfortable and have a home-like feel. I noticed the resident's room was a bright color and there were two nice wooden bureaus for each resident to use. There were personal effects displayed on the tray-table. While I was there, I noticed that the facility staff demonstrated patience and it was clear they had developed a caring and friendly relationship with a patient of mine who has dementia. Overall, Lighthouse Nursing Care Center is a wonderful place, and I would recommend it to everyone, especially individuals that may have cognitive issues/dementia who are looking for good quality long-term care as well as short-term rehabilitation.
