I visited this facility

Oakwood Residence was the cheapest one I found compared to other places. But they couldn't take me because of my money, and because I weigh 450 pounds. They said that if I fell, they wouldn't be able to get me back up again. The atmosphere of the place was nice, but the bathrooms in the rooms look like they were too small. I use a walker, and I don't know how I'd be able to get in there. The rooms were nice, and I would have to go in with another person. They had all kinds of things and activities like bingo, and they go places. I was able to meet the one person that runs the place and she was very helpful. The facility itself was very clean, I just think the rooms could be a little bigger.

My husband has moved into Oakwood Residence. It's convenient. He is in assisted living. It's excellent care. They're very efficient. They take care of what needs to be taken care of. They're very caring. They have physical therapy and occupational therapy. They have a salon for men and women, they have an activity room for the residents, and they have lounges set up with big-screen TVs. It's clean, well taken care of and they have a good staff that maintains the property.

I visited this facility

I didn't really like Oakwood Residence. They only had a microwave and a little refrigerator, so you can't cook your own food. They had doctors and nurses on board. I saw the doctor's office right there, but it wasn't worth it. It had an odor to it too, it wasn't as clean as the other ones. The employees and everyone there were very nice and very helpful. The rooms were very small, everything was in one room. It's a nice area though, the crime rate is very good around there.

My aunt is in Oakwood Residence. I had a good experience with them. They were helpful. Any questions I had, they answered me. Any time I called, they called me right back. I have no complaints. My aunt seems to like it. She has been in the assisted living part for almost two weeks now, but we're not allowed to go into the rooms. They sent me pictures, and I could see it was a very nice large room with a nice closet, a bed, a nice comfy chair, and the bathroom is nice. She said the food is good. You get a menu and you pick what you want. You have two or three choices, and you have breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. I can also bring her snacks, and she has a little refrigerator in her room. She has no complaints about the food. I love the service. The staff has been very nice. This one staff even sits with her and talks to her. If I email them, they email me right back. I've only been to the main door. I haven't seen the rest of it. When she went in, she was quarantined for 14 days. From the brochure, there seemed to be a lot of activities, but she hasn't started with them yet. For Thanksgiving, they gave everybody a big dinner. They had a big table set up with all kinds of food. For the money, it was very good. I've looked at a lot of assisted living places, and I thought it was reasonable.

We have chosen Oakwood Residence for my relative. It is the best and it's reasonable in her price range. She would have a single room there. The bathroom is split among two people. We would take care of the laundry and anything she would need. The staff member who accommodated me was very nice. The room was more like a hotel room. I didn't see a beauty salon. However, they have an activity room. They have a piano there and they have entertainment. I saw people playing bingo and that's all.

My husband was a resident of Oakwood Residence. He had the worst experience there that anyone could ever have. Some of the staff members were good, but the majority of them were poor. The first room that he was in when he was quarantined, it was perfect, and they kept it clean. The second room he was moved to, he had a roommate, and they really did not go in there every day to clean. The therapy was excellent. My husband never received the food that he ordered. Even when I let them know that he couldn't eat beef or pork, they would still bring him beef. They have nothing outdoor for the residents. The building was well maintained.

We visited Oakwood Residence. The room shown to us was pretty small. Some of the staff were okay, some were not. The dining area was under construction at that time. They had lounge rooms where they can play and do activities. They showed us the hallways, the cafeteria where they eat, and a room where they can relax and watch TV.

I visited this facility

We saw Oakwood Residence. It was the least expensive cost wise, it was nice, but not as nice as the other two we saw, but the manager was fantastic, very helpful, and informative. That's what we were considering for my mother, and it was 5 minutes from my office which was very advantageous. It was not new, but it was acceptable, and they had a lot of stuff to keep people active and get them out of their rooms.

I'm interested in Oakwood Residence, but it's costly. The rooms look like they belong in a five-star hotel. The activities were great and include live entertainment. Everything about the place was really nice. I just wish it was more accessible for people of lower income.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I just wanted to thank everybody at Oakwood for making my wife khristina Kelly stay so pleasant we were so scared to come here after being at River's Edge which was horrible facility. The staff here all the way from maintenance to the rehabilitative staff to the kitchen workers to the nurses and caregivers were incredible. Not only did they know what my wife preferred right down to the little things like how she liked her coffee made and what time she like to go out what kind of food she liked and when she wanted to take a walk and little things like that they knew the big details about us. There was one shining star that shown above everybody else in this entire place and that's hard to say because everybody here Shone so brightly. Her name was Tunisia the concierge she was there for everything we needed immediately if not sooner and I have never once not seen her not smile even though her job can be so incredibly demanding. She always had a great attitude and was so nice to me and my wife the entire staff made us feel like friends or family instead of a patient that was at their facility. Every single staff member new not only my wife's name likes and needs within two days they also knew mine and I'm talking right down to the maintenance man who would walk by and say hello mr. Kelly to me everyday mr. Wilson he was also a great guy too. I would recommend this facility to anyone who was thinking of entering a facility or who is in need of this facility. Every facility is going to have small problems here and there but the problems here were so minoot and taking care of so quickly when they were brought to staffs attention that they really didn't matter. To all the hires up like Joe and miss beautiful you need to make sure that your concierge Miss Tanisha never gets away from you because she made our stay here so comfortable as did most of the staff if not all of them. I wish I could put everybody's single name in here that did so much for me and my wife but there are so many of them that did so much for us it would take forever. Like Miss Nadine and Miss Kelly and miss beautiful and Miss Denise the social worker and Patty the CNA and so forth and so forth and so forth Olga and Jessica from physical therapy and super shamar who's always in the cafeteria LOL i I could go on and on thank you for making us feel so comfortable and making us feel so at ease as bad as I want my wife home and I can't wait till she leaves tomorrow I'm actually a little sad that we are leaving here I'm really going to miss all the staff here. I truly felt like part of the Oakwood family

The food at Oakwood Residence is standard for an assisted living place. It is like catering-style food. I like the size of his room and of the bathroom, and it is very clean. I like the size of it because it is best for my dad; it is just a great fit for him. The hallways are very wide. They will have no problems getting into their rooms. They may have a little trouble getting into the bathroom because if they needed assistance, the person who’s assisting them would have to be already in the bathroom because the wheelchair would be blocking the doorway too much to allow another person to get in there. I feel that if the wheelchair was just outside the door, it would be better. But they try to put the wheelchair all the way into the bathroom where you wouldn’t be able to fit all the way in there. They have a calendar, and they have several activities throughout the day, so I feel like they try to keep them active. You are not being billed separately like a lacarte. It is not based on their level of care, which I like. I am very happy.

I visited this facility

I visited Oakwood Residence. My problem with that one was that I had macular degeneration, and they had an awful lot of wood paneling; that was not good for my eyes. The person who toured me around was the one in-charge of Oakwood, and he was very informative. They served us lunch. I had tour of the room, and the hallways had paneling. When I walked in, it was dark, and with my eyesight, I need more light. However, the people were wonderful. They were friendly. The food was good. They did everything they could to make us feel welcome.

I visited Oakwood Residence for my sister. It was very nice and clean. The people were nice. I like the area; it was clean and nice. However, my sister was not qualified. The rooms were beautiful. They were remodeled. It was a beautiful place. Their dining room was very nice. They had nice table clothes. It looked like a restaurant. I would recommend Oakwood. The people seemed happy, and the facility was very nice.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The staff upon entry was friendly and courteous to me and my wife as we visited. It seemed as if my grandmother-in-law was receiving the care that she needed and was tended to on a regular basis to ensure she was ok and comfortable. The nurses seemed to care about the patients that were in here as I have been to other nursing homes in the past with prior family members and Oakwood seemed to be good to great compared to others. The facility in general was very clean and sanitary. There was a faint smell that was in the air but I truly believe this is evident in all nursing care facilities as many residents do not have complete control over bodily functions and it is an unavoidable condition for a facility of this nature. I would definitely consider Oakwood in the future for my own and my wife's parents should the need ever arise.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I find Oakwood to be a usually positive experience. The people seem to be content, the meals are good they check in on you multiple times a day and make sure you get help with what you need including meds, change of clothes, and showers. I feel they engage the patients in getting them to attend the variety of activities they host. The people that work there are positive and helpful. Sometime there are incidents with residents walking into the wrong rooms or shouting or in dementia. Some of that is to be expected. Overall a good standard of care and my mother in law is happy and taken care of and close enough where we see her regularly.
