I am/was a resident of this facility

I was at Caring Heart Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for rehab. I was there twice and it was a good experience. They were very caring and the place was clean. The staff was friendly. The facilities were nice. I liked the church services, the jazz groups that came in, the hairdresser, and the rehab/therapy I had. It's the best one I went to. The only thing is I would like to see separate bathrooms in the room.

Caring Heart Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is doing very well with my uncle. The rehab department is absolutely wonderful. They are getting him to do a tremendous amount of work in a fast amount of time. I would recommend somebody to take their family/loved one there, especially for the rehab part. I am not a whole lot familiar with the nursing staff, but there is one nurse that I get to talk to when I get there. She is also wonderful. The social worker is absolutely wonderful, too. She did some tremendous work for me with helping me get insurances, coverages, and stuff that he didn't have yet. They were very kind and pleasant to my other family members as well.

My mother is currently here for rehabilitation therapy and she is doing really well. It is difficult for me to give a full report about everything because of the COVID19 Pandemic. Caring Heart is taking good care of my 89 years young mom. I want to give an special thanks to Ms.Iyesha in the activities department. She deserves the 5 star for her work in helping my family do a video chat with our mom. We had many obstacles that got in the way but she was very patient and professional. I also want to thank her social worker Mr. Elijah B. for keeping us updated and assisting me in making some important decisions. Thank you Caring Heart for helping my family get through this difficult time.

For the safety and care of your love ones. Please avoid Caring Heart Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at all cost, My Mother was sent to Caring Heart, from Chestnut Hill Hospital for rehabilitation, I don’t want her to go, but the Dr. insisted, So on April 9th 2019 she was admitted to Caring Heart, for rehabilitation during her first 3 weeks she was doing quite will and making significant progress walking, with her walker, by her self, therapist and I praise her, and she was very happy, because she would be going home soon, around the 4-5 week things started to decide, every time I would come there she would be seating in her wheelchair or laying in the bed, sleeping, with here food on the table, she was very weak, her therapist asked me what was wrong, she stop doing all her therapy, she could not get up from the wheelchair, I went to talk to her Nurse, I just asked what Medications was my Mother on, I didn’t tell her why, she give me the list of medications, and I left, after reading the papers I seen that they was giving her Oxycodone, But it was not on the Hospital Discharge list, because I went home to investigate the paperwork from the hospital, So I went back to the Nurse and asked why is she taking Oxycodone, I never heard her say she was in pain, so she tried to find the list, and could not find it, I said I have One, why are you’ll giving a 84 year old lady that and not Tylenol, l said stop giving it to her, she told my Daughter and l that they can’t just stop, she has to be ween off, the next day,my daughter and I was there with her, and she told us she could not breathe, I went to get the nurse, after about 5 minutes she came in and check her oxygen, the nurse panicked and called the head nurse my mother oxygen level was down to 55 percent they turned up the oxygen high put a mask on her face And started pumping air in her, and called for the city Ambulance to take her to the hospital, the hospital worked on her, I filed a complaint with the Head Nurse and The Director of the Caring Heart, the next day because by Mother had sores on her back side, from not being changed, she also had a Bad UTI infection, I have DOCUMENTS to substantiate my claim, Big cover Up because there was not enough staff for the patients, I was told that on May 9th I was told by the Director in our meeting, I said why are you admitting patients, he told me he would Investigate, why the Nurses Assistant did not tell them about the wounds on the backside, On the Same day when leaving there was about 10 ladies waiting to be interviewed for a job, and a sign on the building saying hiring all personal,

I have been very glad to have a private room and the staff has been very accommodating as to keeping the door closed so I have some quiet. The room is very clean and maintained well. My interactions with the staff are friendly and helpful. They are patient. I’m grateful for their suggestions.

I had to put a star to rate it but I would give negative stars. They said this was a rehab for people with spinal cord injuries and they lied! Looks nice but don’t let that deceive you.He is coming off a spinal injury. He was quadriplegic before surgery.Moss rehab had him standing taking a few steps but insurance would only cover so much there. They said this place was only on to accept him. They did not shower him for six days until they knew I had issues and was coming in.Then they are really not equipped for spinal injuries. We ask for them to hold the phone but wouldn’t do it because they said his nurse left.Food is garbage.Has spasms and no bed rails or straps in chair to hold them from falling. Not on time with meds.Didnt know he couldn’t use his hands or walk.Give me a break! Can are nice but disorganized.Dont answer main phone for 20 rings. You ask to speak to someone in charge they pass you around.Horrible bad atitudes.Dont want any part of needy patients.Getting him out ASAP.He complained I’m surprised they heard him.Dont send anyone here ever.

My grandmother is currently at this facility and if it wasn't for the fact she has meaningful relationships and have bonded with her roommate like a sister, we would move her immediately. We have complained in writing and face to face with the director and others in significant positions only to have the buck passed and blame put on whoever is not in the room. Feces filled and soiled pampers have been found in the closets as well as trash hidden in the rooms of the residents, patients who are wheel chair bound have had urine soaked pampers on all day and the stinch in ridiculous! We have over 80 pics of infractions of the above mentioned. The directors will tell you they will handle it however it isn't handled. The staff do not respect them and are far from friendly as they claim. I have found spoiled food and old milk in the room that has been there for days. My family is there often and complain frequently however nothing is being done. Its time for us to complain on a higher level. My grandmother doesn't want to leave her room mate but at this point of time we feel our grandmother and her room mate need to be moved.

What can one say about Caring Heart but that they lived up to their name - Caring Heart. My husband John C was there for a week and from the moment we walked in the door it was like going to stay at a relatives house. We were greeted at the door by Deb G who escorted us to my husband's room, explained what would happen at Caring Heart and asked if my husband was hungry and she would make sure he would get something to eat. The food was excellent, just like home cooking and everyone from the housekeeping staff to the dietary who personally came to my husband room to ask what he would like to eat to the nurses were the best. My husband felt relaxed which aided in his ability to heal and rest. Would we recommend Caring Heart to anyone in need- YES WE WOULD! .

Unfortunately, my mother has been in this facility for ten years and the quality of care gets worse year by year. My mother has bed sores and contractures from not being moved and cared for. There are many good staff members that are attentive but many who sit around in the community room and ignore the residents. The facility is not clean or well-kept. There is always misc trash around my mother's room and the dresser drawers are broken and will not open. I do not recommend "Caring" Heart.

I am pleased with Caring Heart right now. My sister had been there before for rehab, so she said she would rather go back there. They are very caring and seem to be well aware of what they are supposed to do. She is in a semi-private room with their own closets and cable TV. It is very clean, which is one of the things I like about the place. I have been there at meal times, and the food looked very appetizing.

I visited this facility

My mother has been in this facility for over a month now. The rooms are cold and the staff is atrocious and nasty WITH THE EXCEPTION of Ebony, Tanya, and Wendy. There are two women on the 4th floor by the name of CC and Lorraine and they are terrible! My mother has been waiting over an hour for a bed pan to be removed from under her today on 01/19/2016. I called and the woman Kelly answered said, "we are serving breakfast, we are getting around to it" in regards to moving the bed pan. I cannot wait to get my mother out of here!

I am a relative of a former patient at Caring Heart. The Family appreciated The decated Staff who really care for the patients there. Especially Ebony and Tanya Nursing Assistants. They made being there bearable. The food is not good at all, I personally observed this. This must be corrected. The furniture in the rooms must be fixed. The rooms need to be clean, carpets, the air refreshed in patients areas, the Staff trained on being "Caring", need more nursing staff, under staff. Overall you need help! I would not recommend your facility. Thank you for correcting Caring Heart, so it may be a healthy facilty in our community.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother had been at Caring Heart before. About two years ago, she had gone into the hospital, and they wouldn't let her go home directly so Medicare had recommended this one because they had the care she needed. She liked it OK when she was there the first time, so she decided to go back, but it wasn't very good this time. The rooms were just OK, and the carpets were dirty, but the place was clean. She was in a ward this time; there was only the geriatric ward, and they didn't seem to care as much for those people as they did when she was on the mixed floor the last time. They just didn't do a very good job. They were not as responsive as they could have been. Her room was OK. She had a private bathroom, so that was good. The food and everything was not very good. The size of the room was OK. They had a little bit of everything; they had field trips and a reading room, so you could sit and read. Some of the staff were extremely helpful, and some of them said they were going to do something, and then they never came back to do it. There was one guy -- I believe his name was David -- he was fantastic. He was just a good person and very accommodating. He was just extremely nice and very good.

A family member was there in Caring Heart and I went to visit her there. The facility itself was secure in that they had a buzzer system and you had to sign in. Then they would give you a name badge and direct you to where you're going. I noticed that the first floor had a dining room and a chapel. It was very clean and well lit. They had a community room on the second floor. The day I was there, they had a singer performing and most of the folks were there watching. However, this place had a clear smell of urine. I did see my family member's room and it seemed to be dark. It just was not appealing in my opinion. I didn't see anything in the room that was stimulating. It maybe because that she was in that part of the facility that was for people who cannot get up or get around. The staff seemed to be very kind; however they seemed to be all congregated in the back and not interacting with their patients. It seemed that they were extremely cognizant that their patients have dementia and that some of them may be unresponsive. However, I still feel that there should be more interaction between patients and staff.

This facility should be recommended to others who are looking for a nursing home for their relatives or theirself. The staff there are efficient, courtieous and polite. They have activities for the seniors to participate, like bingo, arts and crafts. They have a hair salon where they t is could get their haircut and styled for the ladies, for men, a shave and a haircut. They give each residence a stipend or allowance for this service. The food there is healthy and served in the dining room, if the seniors want to go there, bedridden, their room. My brother has been there for a year and a month and it has helped him with his needs. It is a safe environment there for seniors who need nursing care. I recommend this facility.
