I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

This place is horrible. We received a call last night from Patients St. Luke’s medical center. Our loved one walked out of the facility and ended up going in the emergency room at the hospital. This facility is located on Beltway 8. It’s a miracle she wasn’t hit by a car. She suffers from dementia and was lost. We are not sure how long she was out of the facility. The care at this facility is horrible. They only have 22 residents left. I’m sure it will be out of business soon.

Negative star rating! My loved one was there 4 nights before paramedics rushed him back to the hospital dehydrated, with failing kidneys, heart problems and a large bedsore. The nurse on duty told me she was new at her job and did not know what to do. She apologized. My loved one was soon in a hospice facility!

Mom was in facility in 2017-2018 and staff was great. Well maintained facility. In there now and place is very ruin down. No one checks on mom except for bringing her food. She went out to nurses station and saw no one for hours. Like a ghost town. I have left messages for Dir of Nursing And Facility Dir and have not received call back. Mom’s previous stint there she received rehab twice a day. Now only once and rehab techs leave at 2:30. They told her its open she can go exercise anytime. Her point is if she falls…there is no one to assist her.

If I could give this place negative stars I would! My father has been in this facility for several months and we have had the most difficult time getting to speak with him or even to get someone from the facility to give us regular updates regarding his condition. There is NO COMMUNICATION from them except to tell us that someone else in the facility tested positive for COVID-19. Anything other information that I received was from relentlessly calling and calling or going up to the facility to demand that someone speak to me. Now they are stalling to get the paperwork to the new home that we are transferring him to. THE WORST PLACE!!! Don't let your loved ones go here.

House keeper are bad, cafeteria food is bad, rehab is bad, always short with workers, management if the facility bad they never come by the rooms to make sure the patient is getting what they need, there is never enough linens washed so many problems with this facility it’s ridiculous.

I dont recommend sending your loved one here, my grandma went last year and they did a horrible job of getting her prescriptions to her. The staff was nice, but they never listened to her, and she never had the correct medicine. The MR didn't help her at all considering she was in and out.

Do NOT take anyone that you care about to this facility. The only positive thing I can say about this place is that the Therapist are great at what they do. The nursing staff is horrible. My dad was a patient here recently, his meds were not properly dispensed, that after it taking two days to get his meds at the facility. You could not get help to get him up to go to the restroom. If you were lucky you would see a nurse once in the day and once at night. We did not leave him alone at all during his stay and the care was still bad even after complaining to the director of nursing, director of the place and the state board being there and talking with them. This place needs an overhaul from the top to the bottom. Food was less that desirable on most occasions also. Will NEVER recommend this place to anyone that I know.

I am/was a resident of this facility

DO NOT SEND A LOVED ONE TO THE MR AT BAYAREA. I was a resident there for 6 weeks with no weight bearing on left leg thus wheelchair only. CNAs were great but short staffed. Nurses attentive. Rehab personnel were great. BUT ADMINISTRATION WAS SO BAD THAT I WILL CONTINUALLY DISCOURAGE ANYONE TO CONSIDER THIS PLACE. I ASSUME THATS THE REASON OCCUPANCY WAS WAY LESS THAN 50%: No one except PT and OT even showed up for the only 1 scheduled care plan meeting and never any explanation why, thus never had care plan meeting; only after being at MR at BAYAREA and wheeling myself around facility did I see bulletin billboard showing planned activities for residents, asked therapists when in rehab and none of the personnel in rehab knew anything of planned activities, none of the CNAs knew anything about them, finally PT went to activities director and asked her to come and talk to me which she did and said she would come to my room that afternoon to bring a schedule which she never did - another no show-an activities director on staff and no one knew anything about planned activities to tell me about the activities. Then the straw that broke the camels back-- Early the morning of discharge, a Thursday, I called Beth in Discharge that I needed wheelchair for home and explained how dependent I was on wheelchair. It is now the following Monday afternoon as I am writing this and after numerous calls to Beth and any other staff that would even answer the phone for status of wheelchair I still have no wheelchair and still do not know the status and have been confined to bed for 4 days. Have Dr appt tomorrow and will have to cancel beacause of no wheelchair. I do not understand how someone responsible for discharge details for residents could be so none caring to do the job and ignore a resident's needs. The total front office staff are so inefficient it scares me the facility is still operating.

My Husband had a massive stroke Nov. 2017. After having a craniotomy and surviving pneumonia I chose this facility to place my husband because of reviews and Medicare.gov site grades. I also visited the facility before hand and felt confident he would be cared for. He was admitted with a trachea and feeding tube and paralyzed on his entire left side. I could only visit him twice a week because I live an hour and a half away. Beaumont doesn't have decent Neuro doctors so he was flown to Houston and he needed to stay in the Houston area until his skull piece they removed to allow swelling could be replaced. I had a knee replacement 1 week before his stroke so had to be home to do therapy and take care of home business and our dog. After being there 3 or 4 weeks (don't know the exact amount) he developed pneumonia and had to go to the hospital. I was informed by the hospital he had pneumonia and a "significant" bedsore that I was NEVER informed about. Once I got to the hospital and saw how bad it was I was so heartbroken that they would allow this to happen. As if he wasn't in enough pains and misery!! I also was furious and still am. It was huge! When I talked to the nursing home they were shocked. Nobody even reported he had one. So apparently they never rolled him over completely to know he had it. I don't think they even bathed him with soap and water. Pretty sure they only used the body wipes. Several times I visited his left hand that is paralyzed and was always under the covers stunk like death. Never put lotion on him so his hands and feet were so scaley you could just peel it off in large flakes. Most of the time he was laying flat in the bed which allowed him to develop pneumonia again....so back to the hospital again. Every time I tried calling to find out how he was doing it took forever for someone to answer. All I ever got was he's doing good. Well apparently NOT! He said every time they rolled him back and forth to change his sheets it would make him dizzy and they would laugh at him as if it was funny..:( Said the night nurse would just toss him back and forth and wasn't gentle in any way or took in consideration of his pains. I truly believe it was mostly the daytime male nurse who wasn't doing his job. My husband later confirmed it. Most of the time I would see him in the hallway shooting the breeze with other employees or on the computer. Of course on days I was there he was so attentive and came in to check on him a lot. Needless to say he was NOT returned to that facility. I do want to give a shoutout about his respiratory therapist who was awesome in the way she cared for him and was very nice and gentle with him. I don't remember her name but she should get a humongous raise! If you put your family loved one in this place be sure and visit as much as you can and check on anything they complain about. Don't put it up to medications or anything like that to explain their complaints. Roll them over and check for yourself for bedsores. I wish I had done that...:( DO NOT take their word that they are fine.

The Medical Resort at Bay Area was horrible. It's owned by doctors, but there's never a doctor there. The cleanliness, my mother's care, and the food were horrible. The staff was slow. The rehab therepy was an exercise room. They had a beauty salon. The room she had was a good size with a bathroom, but that's the only thing they had going for them.

My Father has been in the rehab for two weeks and his care has been so good!!! The care mtg went great and all the therapist are hard working, professional and so kind! The nurses and techs are very responsive and have been very sweet and respectful. My Father is in his 80's, has dementia and many other problems. Thanks to these people that are very special.

I have requested for two days to remove my mother from room 505 where there is a very sick patient who has a trek and must be at a certain temperature, and these people have disregarded my request. My mother was remove without my knowledge or authorization. I have called to speak with several different people and was hung up on by a young lady name Angelis, And ignored by the head nurse in charge India.on the night of 5/17/17.

I loved it! Therapy was spectacular and nursing care was fascinating. If there was a dilema it was corrected in a timely manner. I highly recommend this place. Their staff is very loving and compassionate about their jobs.

This place is the worst place ever yo sent helpless paitent like my husband who is blind n unable to get up on his own. Getting him out of here is proving to be the hardest thing to do.the discharge nurse is rude and uncooperative and refuses to even pretend to listen. I know they are keeping him here till rhe insurance says ok that's it, I need an attorney, because the care and the staff have been very unprofessional with my husband while he is here. One evening nurse actually told him stop screaming about your pain because I will not give you Tylenol so get used tonite! The whole facility is under staff and poorly managed .it is only mirrors and smoke here. Horrible donot let your loved ones be sent here.

My 80 mother is at this facility now after a knee replacement. She does require some medical attention as well with meds and help of course gettin up. From the transportation from the hospital, to her meds, to wound care, to the call button response, I could have a list a mile long of the things that have went wrong. She has been there over a week and yesterday they over medicated her and dud not have clear records how. Also first time she saw a dr. In that time. We want to move her but don't know where to or how to. I think home would be even better than this. We shouldn't have to worry and double check her care so much. They seem to never know where they are working day to day instead of steady patients. And weekends are the worse. A lot of part time people filling in the gaps.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm here right now at The Medical Resort with my wife. She had a stroke and been in a hospital bed and recovering. My insurance made a contract with this resort to put her over here because she had a bad wound on her bottom end, and it seemed better now. They have a spa here, a huge weight room, and an exercise room with rehabilitative personnel to work with the patients. Some of the rooms are individual, some are semi-private, and they have their own bathroom, TV, and closet. They have a really good staff here. I had a little problem with them once, but not much. They've been great here as far as taking care of things. As far as I am concerned, it is pretty good food. The only problem is they serve the same thing at night that they have at lunch. Sometimes, there's not quite enough CNAs, but the employees overall seem to be happy and satisfied with what they're doing, and they've done really well in hiring people who are genuinely involved in taking care of their patients.

Dad is doing better at The Medical Resort at Bay Area. They have been doing wound care on him. His left foot is completely healed, and the right food is almost healed. It's brand new, and it has only been there a year and a half. Most of the rooms are private, so that makes it very nice. The food is fine, and he seems OK with the facility, but he still wants to go home. The only thing is that they need more people. They don’t have enough staff. We did push the button, and we waited 45 minutes for somebody to come and we can't wait that long.
