I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom has been at the Hillcrest Country Estates Cottages several times and had to stay at the rehab facility, but that whole complex is great. Affordability is a little bit of an issue. It is higher priced, but what they have, what they offer and the services they do are great. The best thing about it was the care and the service that she received from the folks that were there. My mom was very comfortable in that environment. She was really happy with the food. It was all pretty much home-cooked meals and she was happy. They had a complete rehab area. They had what you'd call a gym area, where they worked with everybody. They had steps in there. They helped them up and down. I'm leaning more on the rehab. I'm not worried about the amenities side of it in all honesty. In terms of location, it was good. It wasn't far. It's right up the road from Bellevue Hospital, and there are plenty of places to eat around there.

My dad is now at Hillcrest Country Estates Cottages. There are only nine people per cottage, so they get more one-on-one care. The staff seems very caring and very friendly. They seem to have a pretty good ratio of aides versus clients there. They're very caring. It's much more of a homey atmosphere, and it's also very clean. With regards to food, it doesn't look super consistent. On the weekends, they don't seem to always have a cook around, so it seems like the aides are doing the cooking. They have activities available, but my dad doesn't choose to participate in a lot. He doesn't like to leave in his room. They have a beautiful courtyard and nice outdoors. He hasn't been outside since he moved in there, but everything is very manicured and very pretty outside. However, it's extremely expensive for the care.

My husband is in Hillcrest Country Estates Cottages. They have all the stages of care, and they're in different cottages. He is in long-term care nursing. It's a beautiful location and they have lots of areas where, when the weather permits, they can be outside and enjoy the countryside, too. It's very open inside. The rooms are quite large and you can decorate them the way you want to. They have quilts on their beds that are making it look real country and they're very nice. They've got full bathroom showers. The staff is very caring and concerned, they're easy to talk to, and they're there to help. I haven't been there when they've had any of the activities really, but there is a big piano that they can use. They have a library and the library can be used as a room where if you wanted to have some of your family come in and have dinner or something. They have a big screen TV and a fireplace. There is an open kitchen, and they can go up and talk to the chefs that are working in the kitchen. It's a very open concept. The one time that I was there, the food was exceptionally good. Their menus sound good and if they don't want what they have, they will fix them something else. I think that's pretty special. The food is nutritional. The facility inside and outside is very clean. There's construction going on around there. Otherwise, everything is very neat.

My father used to live in Hillcrest Country Estates Grand Lodge. Probably the big draw for us was the amenities and the facility itself. There's a lot to do, but yet you're still secure and safe because they're in their own little community. It was pretty much very state-of-the-art, and it was new. Both my parents started there, they were one of the first residents, so it's aesthetically pleasing. They have an exercise room, a swimming pool, a garden center, a putting green, a large outdoor gathering space for a huge fire pit that they get picnics and stuff like that. They had access to a bistro, a restaurant with reservations, and a pub. So it was very accommodating. The physical appearance of the facility is pretty. They did a really good job of trying to keep everybody engaged with the activities. They came in at one of the cheapest rates and offered more than what the other places were offering. I put great rates for the services they provide.

The residents of Hillcrest Country Estates have their own room, so they're not sharing with anybody. They can sleep in later if they want to and order whatever they want for breakfast, and the staff just cook it right there. They have lots of activities. They have transportation to take them to the doctors and other places, a beauty shop, and a nice big spacious bathroom. You're able to go in and visit, you just have your masks on when you first come in, and then when you get into the person's room, you don't have to wear it anymore. It's like having your own apartment. You can bring your pictures from home and your own cabinet from home, but also the things that you want to put in there to be able to look at. For the person that doesn't have memory problems, they have fireplaces in the room. It's very nice. There are only 13 people in the cottages. So they are only cooking for 13 people, and they have staff 24 hours.

Our tour experience at Hillcrest Country Estates was excellent. We're going to choose this because of the welcoming staff, the environment of the cottage, the cleanliness of the cottage, and the spacious rooms. The facility is very well-kept, up to date, very clean, very welcoming, has an open air concept, and is spacious. They have activities, specialized dementia personnel, furnishings provided, and specialized, unique, individualized menu options.

My husband is in Hillcrest Country Estates. So far everything is going well, and he's only been there for two weeks. He was in rehab there, and it was the easiest way to move him. He seemed satisfied. The staff has been helpful. He thought the room was very nice, they had it all fixed, put up pictures, and had it all fixed up for him when we moved him. He's quarantined right now, but they have everything you'd want, they have a gym, a library, they have a big dining room, but none of that stuff is open at this time. He likes the food, and he had the same food when he was in rehab for four or five weeks. He thought it was pretty good. The whole property is pretty large, pretty nice, and it's close to me.

The last review I provided was a Five Start for the care my wife received at Cottage 72 during her final seven months of her life. Those folks were, and I assume, still are the cream of the crop for care giving. However, this review is about the Independent Living communications! On Saturday August 15, 2020 my air conditioner failed at 8:00 p.m. I called the Concierge. I was expecting it would be Sunday before anyone came to look and/or repair the A/C this this was a weekend and not a normal workday. Within 15 minutes the Concierge had contacted the Director of Environmental Services and informed me the Contractor for A/C would be arriving within the hour. By 9:00 p.m. the Contractor was at my door. At 10:00 p.m or two hours after the first phone call to the Concierge, the A/C was working. On Monday morning I was able to personally thank the Director of Environment Services and passed a well done to the Concierge. This is normal for Environmental Services! Advance the clock until today, August 18 at 3:15 p.m. the A/C failed again. I walked to the Concierge to report the outage and explained what had happened on Saturday night. I did mention the Concierge Saturday night did call the Director of Environment Services. This being a normal work day and during normal work day I did ask him to put in a work order which is normal procedure. At 6:45 p.m. once my unit hit 80 degrees, I walked to the same Concierge and asked what the Director of Environmental Service said. I was told he, the Concierge had not called him since the Director reads all work order prior to leaving. I asked the Concierge if he planned to call the Director. No, he will read the work order. It is now 7:50 p.m. and 81 degrees. It would appear the Concierge was not able to follow up on my request. Very disappointed. This is not normal customer service from the Hillcrest Grand Lodge Independent Living; however is becoming a pattern for this Concierge. I do still think the Grand Lodge is a wonderful place; however, it might be helpful if key meet and greet persons are trained to a "standardization" level.

A dear friend of mine lives in the grand lodge memory care. This is a beautiful, well maintained, clean and could potentially be the perfect place to reside. With proper management and staffing. Allow me to share my experiences. Upon visits with my friend I have witnessed poor management, no leadership or supervision and poor professionalism, lack of staffing, lazy staff, overworked staff, complete and autre confusion of job titles. During meal times have personally witnessed “ONE” staff member caring for up to TEN ++ patients, while other staff are on their cell phones, on computer, sitting on kitchen counter tops, watch television, socializing or eating with other co-workers or not present at all! This does not apply to ALL staff.. example: The hard working staff are the individuals witnessed working alone. Beyond poor quality of teamwork! Staff have personal conversations in common areas. Making calls in common area discussing other patients private information.

My mother-in-law is now in Hillcrest Country Estates. It's a lovely, brand-new place. My mother-in-law absolutely loves the view, the people, and the food. It is also all inclusive. So whatever they need, it's the same price. The staff members are lovely and very good. My mother-in-law is very comfortable there. She is 95 years old, so she doesn't do very much activities; however, people are always asking her and trying to keep her engaged. That's a good thing. She does go to exercise classes, which are fine for her age. The dining area looks like a fine dining restaurant.

VERY rude rehab staff! Instructions were very unclear on patient education and instead of explaining things nicely (for a teachable moment) the woman drilled into the patient as if they didn't know anything. Would not recommend anyone ever coming here.

My husband was in a Hillcrest country estates long-term care cottage for a total of four days. In that time he fell twice, once getting a gash in his head that required an ER visit and 10 stitches and the second time breaking his hip. This facility totally failed him! Instead of spending so much money on slick brochures, TV advertising and glitz, they need to spend their money on hiring competent staff, training, and state-of-the-art patient monitoring systems.

My mother is at the nursing care unit in Hillcrest. They came in and found her hanging out of her bed without her oxygen on. They were supposed to get a urine sample and she ended up with UTI. If it wasn't for us taking her to the emergency room, she would have been died. Everything about the place itself is absolutely gorgeous, but the care is very mediocre. Its rated 5-stars, that's why we went there. Two days after we moved her in, we visited and she didn't even have her oxygen on. Some of the staff are good and some are not. There are 8 cottages and 13 people in them. My mother's cottage is almost right by the dining area. The dining room is beautiful and the food is pretty good. They have all the amenities like a salon, library, a room where you can have a private dinner, and a nice outdoor porch where you can sit. They also have activities. It's a community for people with money. But the one good thing about them is that if you pay out-of-pocket for a year and a half, they put you on Medicaid after and you can still stay there.

I looked at Hillcrest Country Estates. It was beautiful. I liked it. The people that assisted me were very nice. Their dining area was lovely. Everything was lovely there. It was brand new. It had only been there for a few years.

Hillcrest Country Estates was a brand-new, beautiful place, like a little village. They had a beautiful dining room and a lot of time for movies and stuff. They also had a hobby shop and transportation if you wanted to go places. However, it was rather expensive.

Everything is really perfect! I mean the atmosphere is great here at Hillcrest Country Estates. There’s physical therapy on site, an indoor saltwater pool, a tub, and lectures. Safety is number one here. You just can’t walk to my door and knock on it; you have to go through security to get to it. So it’s very secure, and I like that feeling. Maintenance is the problem, but other than that, they are spotless. It’s very high class living. The staff is wonderful, and I love it here. It’s really nice.

My mother had dementia. She fell and broke her hip. After her surgery she went to Hillcrest for rehab. Rehab for a dementia patient is difficult. We knew that she would never learn to walk again. Limited number of employees working. We had to stay with Mom 24/7 to ensure she would not get out of her chair or bed. Hill rest could not/would not provide a sitter. Patients without advocates or family members who could not get around on their own we're left alone in their rooms
