Sequoyah Pointe Living Center is clean, and bright, and cheerful. While it was originally conceived as a "Nursing Home", the primary focus now seems to be on rehab.

The staff is oriented toward the goal of "rehab" for each resident, and they work daily with each resident on (minimally) keeping and (hopefully) enhancing skills for self-reliance. This was evidenced in my Mother, who entered as a stroke victim, and within three months was able to walk and self-feed again.

The facility feels open and airy, due to the large corridors that lead off of a central atrium where the main staff desk is located. This central hub area also functions as a living room for the residents, and there are tables and chairs for playing cards, as well as many sofas and chairs for conversation. The big-screen TV is in a separate room, so that those who wish to watch TV can do so without interrupting the others.

Resident rooms are a bit small for two per room, however, the residents typically don't spend much time in their rooms. Staff encourages everyone to "hang out" in the main living area, rather than sitting alone in their rooms. Some residents do have a private room, and with the second bed removed, this makes for a nice, large space. Two built-in closets and two sets of built-in drawers on either side of a sink with a mirror and overhead vanity lighting are standard in each room. Rooms are typically equipped with two single "hospital" style beds, two small side tables, and two rolling over-the-bed trays.

While no one ever wants to place a family member into such a facility, I can recommend Sequoyah Pointe Living Center.
