I have only visited this facility a handful of times now, but since day one I have never been very impressed by this Marquis facility. The care levels offered are Post Acute Rehab (short- and long-term), Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing. The concerns that I have involve how the residents are cared for. I began noticing problems shortly after my first visit to the community, and then like clockwork - families began expressing their concerns to me. I was told by families that they have a huge issue with bed sores due to, basically, resident neglect. A resident will mainly get bed sores from either not being moved and laying in the same position for a period of time and also from laying in bodily fluids for long periods of time, Both of these are clear-cut signs of neglect, and they should never happen. The residents here are residents who pretty much need around-the-clock care and I have seen residents here go hours and hours without status checks being done. One visit I walked in and the staff members that were there were sitting down watching one of those daytime court-tv shows. As soon as they saw they got up "pretending" that there break was over though I could tell that they had been sitting there for a long time.

There are other safety issues, one of the big ones being that during my very visit, before they knew me, I wandered the halls for an a hour and a half before I finally stopped keeping time and approached a staff member, I told her how long I had been there wandering among the residents and asked why she didn't approach me - her answer was that I "looked innocent enough" (!) Some of the world's worst criminals looked very innocent, that's what made them so good at being criminals! Many of these residents in this facility are not physically or mentally able to protect themselves, they need to be able to trust that the staff members will protect them since they cannot. Letting complete strangers roam the halls for hours is NOT protecting the residents, and they say there is a buzzer on the door to keep people from coming in and to keep the residents from going out, but all 4 of the times that I have visited the facility so far, the doors have been propped open, and I have never even seen or heard a buzzer.

There are many other issues and I feel like the families I spoke with have very valid concerns and complaints. These families need to have peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are being cared for in the best way possible, that they are being checked on regularly and cared for thoroughly and receiving the medications, therapies, treatments, and everything else needed to help them make healthy progress. Right now, I am seeing none of those things happening. I hope that these issues get resolved for the health, safety and security of the residents currently residing there.
