I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Majority of workers are not qualified to care for elderly. Food is inadequate and often inappropriate for most . Neglected and often humiliated and degraded for what they cannot help. I feel like I need to be there everyday all day And I can’t. This is an all for money , uncaring fascility!

I just want to say it was a hard decision to make when your parents can't care for themselves. We as adult children have taken on the roll as there parent. So when we're faced with the decision to place them in a suitable nursing home this is the place. I have visited many nursing homes for my dad. My brother and I looked at 10 when we looked at this place almost 2yrs ago I felt like home the staff are wonderful my dad is in Oak Grove this year was a trying year for all of us. The staff did an awesome job of informing me on everything that is going on. You never see anyone sitting in the hall ways. There in groups like art music tv. I have met some of the residents there they seem generally happy. I have to hand it to them doing that kind of work taking care of our loved ones is not easy especially this year. To that I say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Can't wait to see the staff I miss them.

Other

Genisis has been in touch, I hope the results of my communication are good. Giving best care to folks at Glen Ridge. Medford. All I want. My Aunt not crying on the phone. Again. It is very easy for folks to get lax in their attention to patients. But they deserve the best.: the patients. Adquate staff always. Attentive staff always and decent edible food. And clean and positive environment. For me my experiance this year was superior.

Nursing home care will never be perfect... staff will always be overworked, food will not be as good as homecooked. It is hard to give anyplace 5 stars simply because it is not home nor is it a hotel. But I have been pleasantly surprised at how well my aunt has been taken care of here at Glen Ridge. She is always dressed and cleaned up when I stop in. She and other patients are not all sitting in their rooms by themselves, they are down in the community room. Every time I have called to speak to staff about a concern my calls have been answered to my satisfaction. And my aunt is thriving compared to how she was doing at home. I have been very happy with the facility and care she has had and would and have recommended it to others when the option to be cared for at home is not available.

I visited this facility

Glen Ridge was absolutely beautiful. I did see it a year ago in preparation, and I felt like it was a five-star hotel. It was just gorgeous; the grounds were nice when you arrive. The greeting person -- the intake officer -- wasn't as nice though as the others that I have met since then, but the whole building itself was really lovely, and the facilities looked very well-maintained, modern, and clean. I went to the secured floor for the dementia unit residents, and it was a really nice setting. It goes around and around, so that if anybody does like to walk and wander, they walk around and around, so there is no getting lost down another hallway or a corridor or turning corners that don't lead you back to where you belong, and so I thought of that as really nicely laid-out. The rooms were lovely, and you can bring your own furniture. They also cater to end of life, which was what actually appealed to me the most because you don't have to move your person once they became more demented or more ill and needed hospice; they take care of the person right to the end, so I liked that too. Unfortunately with Glen Ridge, as beautiful as it is, it is hugely expensive. The cost factor makes it very difficult, but it is beautiful.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother is a resident at Glen Ridge. She has been there for some years and I wanted to let others know who are looking for a place for their loved one that Glen Ridge is a really good place. Here is why I say that. First and foremost is that the Administrator and the Nursing Director are kind and compassionate. They actually care about the residents and the care they receive. If you have a concern or an issue they will listen and try to resolve it. They also have made substantial improvements over the last several years since they have been at Glen Ridge and they dererve high praise for all their hard work. Many of the negative comments on this web site are old and outdated and in my opionon, no longer are relevant. As I read the other reviews on the site I do not agree with many of the negative comments. When you place a loved one in a nursing home it can be very scary and I find that many family memenbers have a hard time adjusting and they tend to expect perfection when that is just not possible. Glen Ridge is a place where you will receive compassionate and high quality care for your loved one.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I have had two close family members who resided and Glen Ridge. One was on the alzheimer's unit. She lived there a year. As we watched her disease take hold she rarely remembered any of us. Sometimes she would recognize the staff more than me or one of my kids. She was treated with great kindness and dignity by everybody. They don't have any easy job, taking care of the elderly. I know the aides and nurses aren't always thanked by family members like me. So, because of the season, and because I'm feeling thankful for the way my loved one was cared for............I'm saying thank you to the wonderful staff.

The physical and occupational therapists are great and very caring. In fact, they do more for the patients than the most of the staff that work there. The PT and OT crew get a five star rating. But some of the CSA's act like you're bothering them and your lucky if someone comes to assist a patient before an hour or so passes after being called for assistance. The weekend help is the worst. One woman waited over an hour to have some one take her to the bathroom. Her husband was visiting with her and he was livid. It was the receptionist at the front making calls to the nurse station for someone to help this woman. After three calls the receptionist finally got some one on the phone and told them to help this woman. Sad, so sad to be dependent, need to go to the bathroom and no one answers your call button. The food selection is not extensive, not that good, but it does not matter because most of the time the patients do not receive the food that they selected. My relative who stayed at Glenridge had a great easy-going roommate and one of the things she told us on the day my relative arrived is just that...you usually don't get what you selected for your meals. Bethanne, I believe is a head nurse there, is curt and grumpy and leaves a lot to be desired.

This was by far the worst facility I have ever seen. The staff was rude and very unhelpful, they treated the patients very unfairly and cruel. The food was aweful and very little portions. I would never allow anyone in my family to ever become a resident

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I recently visited my ill grandmother at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford, MA. I must say that this was an overly enjoyable experience. My grandmother was very old and on the verge of becoming extremely senile, so this visit was a sad one. However, the delightful staff at Glen Ridge made this experience so much better than it should have been. Without their support and generosity, I may have left there extremely upset. One of the nurses even offered to bring food back for me and my grandmother from the local Dunkin Donuts, which pleased me. I felt very welcome, and the facility itself was very comfortable. Each room was a decent size, and the nurses were more than happy to help fit the room with any extra chairs or tables we needed. I loved Glen Ridge when I left, and I would openly encourage any persons looking to come visit a loved one, place a loved one in their care, or visit for their own personal reasons.

I really enjoyed this place when I went to visit my Uncle there. He was a bit over weight so even though he wasn't all that old, he needed someone to help him out so that's why his family sent him there. The staff was always very professional and courteous to me and other family members. We also never heard a complaint from my uncle, he seemed to get along with everyone and they with him. The food wasn't the best in the world, but for a nursing home it was pretty good, they had a decent selection for the residents to choose from. The bathrooms were clean which I think is really important, so were all of the rooms we were shown when we went to visit. I'm not sure how the price was, since I wasn't the one paying for him to stay there. They are also supposed to be award winning, which is pretty impressive when you're choosing a place to take care of a loved one.
