I visited this facility

worst ever!!!!! discharged was non existent. no proper discharge that allowed us a family to get the medicine she needed because they sent the wrong paperwork into the pharmacy not once but twice even after the pharmacist personally called and talked to the person in charge of her release. Did not sent the paperwork in updating her primary physician that would have allowed him to see what was going on and prescribe her the medicine she very much needed. Please for the love of your loved one. Do NOT go here!!!!!!

The staff was very rude to my mother. She was never offered any activities or alternate meals when she did not like what they were serving. Food was always cold.

I have been trying to get my grandmother moved here for over two weeks and no one will call me back. I spoke to someone and she was suppose to call me back the next day which was over two weeks ago now and still nothing. I’ve reached out several times and still nothing! Very unprofessional! So glad I did not send my grandmother to their facility!

Facility is clean and looks like the BEST in the area. Rooms are spacious and mostly clean. Need to have AC/heater cleaned before each season change. Food is unacceptable, sandwiches for dinner or hard uncooked broccoli and pastas. Staff is short, care is inadequate, administration is uncaring. I had to be with my mother every day to get her cared for properly. The director of nursing,DON, is helpful and caring, other staff ignores complaints or issues you need help with.

I visited one day for lunch. It is a very clean, new looking facility. The staff is very friendly and the food was decent for a nursing home.

I have found the staff from the front desk to my mother's room , friendly, helpful and concerned. My mother has been there a little over a year and I feel she has had very good care. Her meals are very well balanced and good portions. They have gone beyond their job with trying to get her to eat and improve her health. I have found the facility has no oder and is clean. I would like to see the grout in the bathroom floors cleaned better. They make sure her bed is clean and she is clean with clean clothes on. All in All I feel good about her being there as he had to be in a facility

Ashton Rehabilitation Center was not my first experience with Rehab Centers. My brother needed rehab therapy after a major stroke he suffered in December 2018. As a brother guardian, my family needed to choose from a list of rehab centers that were Medicare approved and that worked with the Baptist Hospital System in Winston-Salem. My prior knowledge were with in-laws that were residents within the facility. My family made a great choice selection with Ashton. The facility is clean, do not smell, the staff appears to be happy in their work and the residents / patients were not parked in the hallway nor forgotten. We were told that my brother, who had this stroke, could be treated there with no issues. We experience exceptional service. The staff treats my brother with dignity and respect, keeping in mind his reduced capacity during his recovery. The staff goes out of their way to ensure his safety and well-being. They are finding unique ways to increase his healing and rebuilding his life skills. The staff are tremendously gracious and sincerely loving towards my brother. The housekeeping staff are friendly and do a fantastic job of keeping the center clean and spotless! The PT, OT and Speech Therapy staff are wonderful, kind and goes above and beyond in my brother’s therapy. Every staff member at Ashton Rehabilitation Center that came in contact with my brother greets him by his name, asked him how he is doing and mostly give him hug or high five. There are activities that includes musicians, bingo, spiritual services, etc. All I can say is that my brother is experiencing a wonderful experience in his recovery and would recommend this facility. I am giving Ashton Rehabilitation a 5 start today because I’ve seen the huge progress in him that has been made since my brother first came to the facility in March 2019

My brother is a resident of Ashton Rehab on Birch Hall. I want to thank the staff of Birch Hall for taking such excellent care of my brother. All the nurses especially, Tim and Jodie, the CNAs and the Nurse Managers especially Bonnie. I am a Registered Nurse Case Manager and I’ve had the opportunity to work at several SNF/Rehab facilities and it was awful the smell and the care of the residents due to staff shortages and poor management of the overall facilities. I also want to say thank you for Kia transportation and Wendy in the Business office. I am giving Ashton Rehab a 5 start today because I’ve seen the huge progress that has been made since my brother first came to the facility in March 2019

My sister has been at Ashton Health and Rehab for over two years. It was a really good place for the first year then owners changed, it started going down hill and then owners changes again, I have seen a big change for the good since the last change. I feel comfortable leaving my sister there, her family visits her just about every day and are happy with how clean it is and it does not have a nursing home odor. I would highly recommend Ashton Health and Rehab.

If your loved one do no need anything more than a band aid and Tylenol, you should be fine. These people will over medicate or under medicate with no regards to what the condition of the patient is or without any communication between staff regarding what the last nurse /med tech gave you. Their is little supervision on 1st shift and after 1st shift, you can forget it. There is next to none. They are short staffed much of the time and the few good nurses, med techs they have, they work them to death. This place is full of negligence from the front office to the CNA's. There were several family members that camped out daily to stay on top of the staff and manage them due to concerns over the mistreatment and lack of care their loved one received from staff. There were 2 good things about Ashton. The rehab and the cleaning crew. If my loved one had received better health care, I think they would have benefitted greatly from the rehab department. Also, The cleaning crew has better pride and work ethic in mopping and cleaning the floors than the nurses and cna's have about taking care of residents. If you have other choices besides Ashton, exercise those options. The director is fairly new and doesn't seem to really care about turning things around. In fact, most of the staff is either new or temporary. Do not send your loved one here. Ashton does not care about them neither will they adequately care for them.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am currently a patient at Ashton Health & Rehabilitation. The doctors recommended that I go to a skilled nursing facility for inpatient rehab following my recent hospitalization for total knee replacement. Terrified because going to a nursing home is the last place anyone wants to be. My fears were soon turned into excitement. The staff welcomed me and made me feel safe and right at home. I'm so happy I choose to come here for therapy. The therapy department is amazing and they worked me hard everyday to get me ready to return home. Coming here for rehab has made a huge difference in my recovery time as the doctors told me it would . The food here is good I haven't ate this good in a while. Everyone has been so nice and caring. It truly shows that the staff here cares about each and every resident they care for always going above and beyond. Today I discharge home happy and safe. I cannot wait to return after having my other knee replacement

Where can I begin?.......the experience was so important to me and my family, it's hard to know if the beginning is best or the end. My grandmother was at Ashton Health and Rehab for long term care. She was diagnosed with Dementia, and had spent a total of 16 years in assisted/skilled care prior to her passing one month shy of 99. Nanny was at Ashton for several years, with staff caring for her, talking with her, watching TV with her. They knew she liked baby lotion and powder after her bath. They knew she loved chocolate and would hide some in her bra......... They knew she loved to watch Wheel of Fortune.....and she could answer any question on Jeopardy with the best of them......they knew her favorite food was fried chicken. Ashton cared for her gently and kindly with such a genuine love and caring for her well being. This facility is outstanding......in the beginning and thru out her stay, Nanny had rehab services when needed, restorative intervention and eventually Hospice services. She believed she was in elementary school in Hendersonville NC for most of her time at Ashton.....waiting each day for lunchtime, or activity time, with staff reassuring her that she was right where she was supposed to be. It is hard to see a loved one regress to the past, but I must say, the nurses and cna's, dietary and housekeeping staff all participated in her daily fantasy and engaged her constantly with encouragement, laughter and friendship. There were many sunny August days, she believed it was going to snow.....and staff encouraged her girlish excitement about the weather. It takes special people to do the job of caring for our parents and grandparents. It is a job of Courage, Bravery, Compassion, Dedication and most of all a job of the Heart. I know this because I saw her most every day of her stay......but I can honestly say she really never missed me.....she really felt she was home and surrounded by people that loved her. Seems strange to feel happy that she did not miss me....but for those that deal with Dementia and aging of loved ones, knowing when you go home that the one you leave in a facility is cozy, and safe, and peaceful.....is priceless. Nanny never rang a call bell, yet a call to staff any time of the day would give me up to the minute updates on her day.......I believe they felt she was their Nanny too........I am sure she felt security and love each day she was there...................... If you are looking for a place to care for someone you love, or even for short term rehabilitation after a hospital stay, please stop by Ashton Health. Look at faces of staff, residents and speak with visitors. It is a place that I spent the most precious time in my life with woman I most admired and loved. Nanny would be proud of me for surrounding her with Ashton.....it was a beautiful last chapter. Thank and Bless everyone at Ashton.

My grandfather was a patient at Ashton for Short Term Rehab the staff was amazing the CNAs were caring and compassionate and always willing to go above and beyond to help my grandpa with whatever he needed. His pain was controlled and his rehab experience was out of this world he received Physical Therapy 7 days a week which made a huge difference in the recovery process following his total knee replacement.

My father was at Ashton Place for rehab after having a brain tumor removed. Stay far away from this place. He would call for help and could hear the staff talking and laughing, but they would not come to help him. The staff, especially the night shift, had no compassion for their patients. My dad's basic needs were not attended to. He received this treatment even though we were there everyday. The moment we left, he was forgotten and alone until we returned. Do not be fooled by this place. Read reviews and make an informed decision. We got my dad out of there as soon as we could since his health steadily declined everyday he was there.

I spent all morning working with the representative to get my mother into Ashton place. There were empty beds available and the woman was very positive. My mom had Medicare so there was no problem with payment. After a three hour wait, I was told my mom exceeded the weight limit. Mind you a weight limit never came up before that. Follow-up conversations indicated that the weight limit is in their administrative manual. I wonder what else is in that manual. I will be following up with Medicare!

Social Work has done an excellent job for me. I learned about Ashton Place when I visited on its opening day back in November of 2009. As a resident I would say that my discharge plan was A-OK . I am pleased to commend every single staff member from Housekeeping to the Highest Professionals who had a part in my care especially the Rehab Staff. Their courteous, caring, and efficient treatment is unsurpassed and very much appreciated. My thanks for the ease in the Admissions and Discharge process. Food was outstanding!

My grandpa is currently a patient at Ashton Place and it is a lovely place. During one of the most difficult times of our life, it felt like Ashton Place was heaven sent. Back in the summer of '15, my grandpa had a massive stroke; one in which the doctor's told us he would never recover from. Being the strong man that he is, my grandpa proved them wrong! He went through intense rehab at the hospital and then we were given the news that his insurance would no longer pay for hospital inpatient rehab and we would have to start the task of finding an outpatient rehab facility to continue his therapy for healing and getting stronger. This was a most difficult task. It appeared to be that the outpatient rehab facilities we looked at were what I knew to be nursing homes. I was sick to my stomach thinking that the only place my grandpa could get help was in a nursing home. They were so depressing, dark and the stench was something awful. I had almost given up the hope that we would be able to find a place until my family and I went to look at Ashton Place. We walked in and were greeted upon our arrival. Even though we just happened to stop by without an appointment, we were welcomed to come on in and look around. We initially spoke with a lady named Carla who walked with us around the facility and gave us information. I was completely amazed to see how open and bright the facility was. My most astonishing observation was it didn't smell like a nursing home. My parents were not able to go with my family this day because they live out of town. Carla let us know that we could come back during the weekend when my parents were in town. I brought my parents back to look at the facility and met that time with a young lady named Chrystal. What a joy she was to meet with such a great personality. She also walked with us around the facility and was able to answer every question my parents presented her with, and let me just say, they were full of questions. This facility exceeded our expectations upon first appearances. When we went back to the hospital, we spoke with the social worker and let her know we were choosing Ashton Place. The move went just as smoothly as our visits did. We have had some bump in the roads, more so with dietary issues due to my grandpa's diet, but when we brought this to the attention of the staff, they responded in a timely manner. I'm sure we can be a trying family because we have high expectations of the care for my grandpa, but it really is because we love him so much and just want the best for him. He has come so far with his recovery, but sadly, he will not be able to return home. The staff at Ashton Place were so helpful in making sure he was still going to be taken care of. He has now been converted as a resident of Ashton Place, which is what I was so scared of to begin with when we started looking initially. I would not have been happy had my grandpa had to stay at any other facility other than where he is now. Ashton Place has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are a top-notch facility. I am proud to say that I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place for their loved one. If you do have to make a search for your loved one, I hope you love them as much as we do!

I visited this facility

During the fall of 1995 my wife had two rehabilitation experiences at Ashton Place n Mc Leansville. The first lasted for 24 days, the second was lasted for 10 days. During these rehabs the therapists who had been contracted for Gentiva were excellent, the nurses were polite and helpful, and the CNAs were exceptional beyond expectation. The room as adequate in size and with some help from the admitting physician the bed was eventually adequate. The major shortfall of both experiences was the poor quality of the food. The entire process of preparation and serving does not lead to acceptable meals. Generally they are cold and in my opinion the choice of entrees passed unaccepatable several years ago. Without friend or family member to bring in food, the patient is out of luck. A second problem is that the staff yells” at each other at all hours of the day and night. I would suggest that anyone attempt to obtain a room as far away from the nurses’ station as possible to help reduce the din.

I was very unhappy at the level of care my elderly mother received from the doctor on staff and nurses as well. They are there to collect a paycheck and do not have the best interest of the patient at heart. As I stood at the nurses desk, I overheard a Physical Therapist express concern over the weakness of a patient and that room that the patient was in was extremely hot. The nurse only said, that she likes it hot and that the heat just needs to be turned down. She never even went to check the patient to see if there was any serious problem with her being weak. They never did lab work on my mother until I asked about it. I had to ask for the doctor or nurse practitioner to come visit and check on her and when I did I was met with attitude. Even though my mother could barely push up from a chair and barely get into bed, the physical therapist cleared her for release. I feel it was due to her meeting her portion of copay for insurance, once she went into the days where she didn't pay co-pay they were ready to discharge her. Lastly, the food there was NOT good. Please do not send your elderly loved one here. As with every facility, if your loved one is there, be sure to show up often and at different times, to be sure that they are being well taken care of. For those who do not have this support, I am afraid of the health consequences for them. Be aware and involved!

I was really unhappy with how rude management was and how unprofessional my family was treated. There are so many rehab facilities in the alamance and Guilford areas this would be the last one we.chose again. Also the rehab management.was the most unfriendly when we tried to talk about our loved one.

Mom was at Ashton Place Health and Rehab. She was there following a hospital stay. It was a fairly new facility at that time. It was nice. Their rooms were of decent size, although they're not as big or nice as those in the assisted living facility she's in now. Her level of care was satisfactory. The staff was also satisfactory. I can't remember anything outstanding about them. They weren't bad but they weren't terrific either. The food there was a real problem. They had one menu and you can have either salt or no-salt in the food and it was not good. My mother is not a picky eater but she really didn't like their food at all. Food was the worst thing about this facility. They should improve on their menu and food preparation.

Ashton Place was a great place for my father to stay after he had his stroke. He had to undergo tremendous amounts of physical and speech therapy and all of the staff there was excellent during his stay. Not only did they make sure that he was taken care of, but when friends or family would visit, they made sure we were taken care of too. The only have two complaints and they are not very major. First of all, it was always hot in the facility. Residents and employees alike were always complaining about the heat and sweating. I actually had to buy a fan to go in my father's room. Right before he came home, they actually installed air conditioners in each of the resident's rooms. The second complaint is about the food. They had limited choices and my father would get to the point sometimes where he would refuse to eat until we went to Wendy's or McDonald's and got him something there. Overall, I would rank them as excellent.
