I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was in the facility, (6th floor) for several weeks before she passed on the 17th of October. I cannot stress enough the impression I was left with the staff at Fair Acres. From the business office, to the floor nurses and doctors and the nurses from Campassus, it was beyond expectation. Constant texts and phone calls from the staff for every thing related to my mom's condition. Sometimes 3 to 4 calls a day which i very much appreciated. My mom went there for Hospice and i can say she died in peace thanks to the effort of all those involved with her care. My family thanks them from the bottom of our hearts.

My brother is in Fair Acres Geriatric Center. The experience is excellent. The staff is very attentive, caring, and friendly. His room is just basic, not fancy, but very clean. They're not anything you'd write home about. They don't spend a lot of money upgrading their facilities; however, they put the money toward care. I have not tried the food, but my brother said it's good and he doesn't complain about it. They have a central room on each floor. However, because my brother's bedridden, he hasn't eaten out there. He stays in his room. He's very comfortable. My sister went to a place that was $200 more a day, so the value is a five.

My mother was in there. That is where They dropped her. She soon later died. I would not even put an animal in there.Don't put anyone in there you know.

Fair Acres Geriatric Center is a nursing home, my dad moved there last week. We chose them because they had beds available for him. Because of Covid though, we haven't been able to go in or visit him yet. It looks nice outside, but we haven't been able to go inside because you have to make an appointment for that. The staff has been responsive and they seemed like they're caring. For activities, I think they have bingo, they have a game room, and physical therapy to go to. The outside looks very, very neat and clean. The grounds are nice. The buildings are also nice and well-maintained.

My mom has been there over three years. We have had a few bad days, but overall they are very caring. They are short staff many times because of call outs and no shows. I know the can't give 100% to each patient has everyone feels they should but they have shown my mom much love and she's being take care of. They call when any changes happen such as meds, doctors visit or ill. I applaud those who work there because you have to want to do this kind of work. Everyone can't do it; including the family members. I just can't wait to get back in there to give my support to the staff. People must stop taking others for granted. Those who enjoy their work get the most flack from families who only show up once every three to six months.

Fair Acres staff are excellent, they call with updates on a near daily basis, are incredibly friendly. My father moved here from a private facility and the care he's received could not be better. They put him on a physical therapy regiment within days that has made him more active than he had been in a long time. The rooms overlook the Penn State campus, and while simple are well maintained. We visited several places before choosing Fair Acres, and we are glad we did.

We had a terrible experience while my mom was at the facility. staff and Doctors did not listen or even care to here from the family. My mom was in for 10 months and then passed.

My dad is in Fair Acres Geriatric Center. He seems to like the people and the care he's getting. The room is small, and he shares a bathroom with four people. I would recommend them for certain individuals. They meet a financial need for many people.

We are choosing Fair Acres Geriatric Center for my father because of the location and the people who work there. We liked the activities and the friendly staff.

Fair Acres looked like a nice facility. They have lots of things for seniors to do, so I think it would be a good place. I only met the woman in the office and the gentleman doing the tour; I didn’t meet anyone else. They were wonderful. They were helpful, and they answered all my questions. The rooms seemed nice. They weren’t private, and I think they can do 2 to 3 people in a room, but they were size-y, and you are allowed to have a TV and some personal items. It is county-run, so if you do not have a lot of income, you can apply for Medicaid. They do accept that, so that is helpful.

Fair Acres is a little institution-like and seemed more hospital-like in the hallways than a living facility. They can improve on the cost and their atmosphere.

I'm sorry to report that this facility has the laziest staff and slowest response time to patients needs. After visiting a friend/family member I left in such despair concerned about my loved one. I can only imagine that if the staff was that lazy in my presence then how lazy are they when I wasn't there? My loved one is bed ridden and totally dependable on the staff. I have great concerns and I hope this review helps others.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My relative has been in 3 nursing facilities in a year. First one was private (not Medicaid participating) and it was homey and run as well as one could expect. The second one was Medicaid participating but it was a dump (and that's being kind). We were on two waiting lists for other homes and our family decided we couldn't wait any longer because of the conditions at the second facility. In desperation, we gave Fair Acres a try. It is miles above the last one. In most of the these type homes, the people you meet going in are great but it doesn't filter down and the hands on care is terrible. But I have to say we are very pleased with the entire staff at Fair Acres. Out of 3 places where our relative has been and out of 6 places we have toured, we rate Fair Acres at the top....more importantly, our relative rates it the best.

A lawyer told us about Fair Acres. My mom was there for one week. We had put her in there, but when we went in the next day, she was walking around without a cane. The next night, my sister went in and didn't find my mother in the room. Nobody knew where she was, and then she came walking down the hallway barefoot this time with no walker or cane. We were just totally disgusted. The staff was horrible. They didn't do anything. The nurses worked, but none of the care people did anything. Her room wasn't set up and ready like they promised. My mom had a roommate in her room. It was more like a hospital set up. It was just horrible. It was not what they showed us when we went to see it. With regards to security, they had a gate that you're supposed to drive up through with a guard, but he was always doing something, and the gate was always up; anybody could have went in and out of there. It was terrible. They just need a whole new overhaul of the whole building and the way it is run.

We're placing my mother in Fair Acres which is not too far from us. It's one of the top facilities in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. There are two people to a room, and they are high rises. There are colleges and schools in the area, so a lot of the college kids and the school children go there for activities and meet with the residents. It's a clean and safe environment. It sits out in the country, which is nice.

I visited this facility

We visited Fair Acres Center. I personally did not like it, but it was really what I expected because it was county run, and it was paid by government Medicaid. It was not as homey, and it was clinical. It was like a hospital or something like that. The staff was nice. The tour was also nice, and the information provided was very good. However, it was not the kind of surroundings that we would like to put my brother in. It was clean, but it was not homey.

My dad will be at Fair Acres. Although the place is not fancy but I can say their health care system is good. The personal care is good. It has a little bit of institutional environment. The interiors are not super fancy. It's a high rise facility and it's super, super clean.

My sister-in-law is at Fair Acres. The place is fine. They really treat her well. Her room is adequate. They have dancing activities and she seems to enjoy dancing. The only complaint I had was that she never has a cup of water by her side. If she wanted a glass of water, I had to go and find somebody to get it for her.

Fair Acres is okay, it's not state of the art or anything but it's clean. The food is okay. They give mom medicine on time. The people working there are friendly and helpful. I think they could have more space for each resident; there are three people in a room. She seemed stronger since she moved in.

We're in the process of getting my mother admitted to Fair Acres Geriatric Center. We've only been there one time but it just seemed like everyone there was very friendly and everybody was doing things, no one was sitting around. It's well-organized.

I visited this facility

This is a huge facility located in a spacious community of Media, PA. This facility appeared to be hectic and looked cold in appearance. I visited a friend's grandmother who is a resident who absolutely loves it here. She said she loves that they arrange bus tours to Atlantic City and they teach them crafts to make for gifts for loved ones. She is 92 years old and is still very active. I myself would not like such a huge Nursing Home for myself; however, the resident loves it for herself. There is nothing elegant about this place if thats what you are looking for. Fair Acres appears to give good care to their residents and that should be a #1 consideration in choosing a Nursing Home.
