L.m.c.- Extended Care

I was very impressed with the fact that they have some modern tools to use with the residents. While I was there they were doing Exercises that everyone could do.

At the onset of her stay, I found that staff to be attentive and very caring towards my grandmother. While that caring part remained true for the remainder of her stay, attentiveness was lost. The staff while very comforting and clearly knowledgable about the care given, management was not. They were understaffed any day of the week unless DSS was in for an inspection. On those days they were staffed to the hilt. On the other days my grandmother would have to use the restroom in her adult diaper as they could not assist her to the restroom and I was told that she will just have to deal with it. When you are 89, waiting to use the restroom after you have been given meds to make you go, is the last mortifying thing you want to hear. Much less the end result of waiting.As to the actual facility itself, it was clean for the most part and for those residents who did not require hands on care, they seems very happy. In the end, if you are capable of taking care of yourself, then this facility is great. If you require actual assistance, look for another place to hang you hat.

My Grandmother was housed there last year for three months. I can say that medically she was well cared for there. My family and I came at all different hours so that we would not establish a pattern and would know if she was being mistreated. We never saw any indication of mistreatment but the staff did seem to look down on our practice. Regardless of their attitudes it was clean and she was physically taken care of very well.
