I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The lack of communication in a timely fashion is appalling. Trying to get anyone on the phone, or information from soemone via email or phone, in ADVANCE of a change in my mother's care, is impossible. There are always excuses given with no follow-up when emails or voicemails are left. On the plus side, with the exception of one female, the staff are friendly and seem to be caring.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My sister is in the Coastal Manor. When we first toured it, it was extremely clean. We were allowed access right then to the dementia ward. We didn't have to wait or make an appointment. We were there during the time they were doing exercises and things with the patients. They were very caring with their patients, and my sister seems to really like it. The dementia ward is closed and has access with a keypad at the entrance. They gave us the number on the keypad if we wanted to come, and we could just walk right in any time. I like that we're capable of doing that. They have things to do, such as a little dance class every day. They play disco music. A lot of the seniors in that area are in wheelchairs, so they will exercise their arms up and down to the music. They seem to enjoy it very well. It's a great facility, and I highly recommend it. They also have a nursing home as well. They have areas for assisted living. They are owned by Liberty Regional Hospital.

Excellent. They have been very attentive to my Mother. This was a difficult decision for all of us and they made be feel so much better about choosing here. I have heard horror stories about some LTAC But this has by far exceeded all my expectation. My mother is doing so much better now that she is a resident here. The staff is awesome, very understanding polite and caring. THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother stay there now and it should be shut down. Nurses don't give medicine at night. They don't answer the call and she don't get cleaned up for hours. Her other roommate didn't get fed in her stomach tube all day sometimes and when she say something they just say they told the boss. Then they moved her to another room. The aids always complain that they short staffed and nobody cares unless you don't do everything perfect for the high up patients. We had 2 really good aides but they quit because it got so bad. People said this was a good place but not now.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Do not send your loved one here. My mother, age 75, needed rehab and was approved by her insurance. Coastal Manor sent me a 32 page document at 5 pm upon insurance approval. My husband had to review, and basically they were asking us to be financially responsible for all of her debt. She is on Medicaid and there were so many "hidden" clauses in contract about additional fees which we would have to pay. Also, because we did not get the paperwork back in less than 20 hours, they gave her bed away! They are all about the money, not the care of the elderly.

I visited this facility

The staff are very professional and attentive to the patients needs. Friendly to visitors upon entering the facility. Often are shortly staffed but patient care is not sacrificed. Facility is well kept, would recommend this facility to others.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother was at Coastal Manor for a couple of months. The place was good. They provided standard care for the residents. The staff were friendly. The place was clean. I had no complaints.

I visited this facility

Every time I walk into the nursing home, I am nervous about what I will see. Usually, we are told to wait at the office for approximately ten minutes before being able to tour the facility and hand out cards. This makes me uneasy, but I am sure there is a good reason. Once we are allowed access into the remainder of the nursing home, everything looks good. Every person who develops a need is seen to immediately. There are some folks who have specialized round the clock care. There are always activities going on, and I rarely see people sitting in the hallway left unattended. The people I do see are people who choose to have a certain amount of privacy while being able to view the surroundings. The rooms, hallways, and beds are always clean and made up. One thing I especially like is that we are always given heads ups on certain patients. One may not be in the mood for visitors, while another may be extra lonely because they haven't had visitors in awhile.

I visited this facility

When I first walked in there I was very surprised by what I saw. The staff needless to say was not friendly when I went there. I am not sure if most of them just didnt like working at night but they did not seem friendly. They seemed rude to me and were not very simpathic with the patients. I saw one that basically ignored what one of the patients said and did whatever she wanted. I would never leave my grandparents here. There were some nurses that were very nice though and seemed to want to be there and take care of the elderly. The facility as a whole does not look worn down and actually looks like a decent place. The machines they use also do not look worn down. The workers do however need to learn how to be more clean and keep things sterile. The facility should provide nurses with gloves and other things that they need in order to keep them and their patients safe from diseases.

I visited this facility

When I went to visit this facility I went with a friend to see their family member. When we arrived we noticed that there was not a whole lot of room for anyone to park. Upon entering the facility I noticed it had been a very long time since any of the doors or windows had been cleaned, or at least it seemed that way and that the place was very dusty. When we got to the family member we had come to see they were soiled to the point where it was dried on. This told me right there that the staff had not been doing their job properly. I was very upset, even though this person is not directly related to me it hurt me very badly to see someone treated that way. The entire building was nasty, the trash in the room was over flowing, the family member had not been being taken care of and the staff when asked for help was actually very rude. They seemed as if they were upset that we even asked for help and then made it clear we would have to wait until they got done with what they where already doing, which was standing around talking. I am very sorry but someone's nail polish color can wait when someone needs assistance. I would hope that I never have to put a family member in that facility.
