Eliza Jennings
From the Provider
The Eliza Jennings legacy began in 1887 with the philanthropy of our benefactress, Eliza Wallace Jennings. Eliza, moved by the plight of an old friend in poor health and desperate circumstances, donated the land and funds necessary to create a haven for needy women with health concerns. The Home opened in 1888, intending to care for women of all ages. Soon, however, the Board of Trustees recognized the special needs created by aging and thus determined to provide care specifically to older women. In 1975, the organization expanded its mission and began admitting men as well. Eliza's legacy of philanthropy and concern for older adults lives today, more than a century later, as a cornerstone of our organization and in our mission to serve Cleveland's older adults.
Since the founding of the original Eliza Jennings Home in 1888, Eliza Jennings Senior Care Network has blossomed into more than its modest beginning. One hundred and twenty years later, the Network oversees a range of communities that cover the complete continuum of residential and community-based services for today's older adults, including independent living, geriatric assessment, home health care, rehabilitation, respite, adult day care, Alzheimer's and memory support care, assisted living, nursing and hospice care. Our latest venture includes wellness clinics.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
My Grandmother lived here for 4 years. The staff was kind and treated her very well. The thought of her moving from her family home of over 40 years was difficult at first, however she made quite a few friends while maintaining her independence. It is a clean facility. There were events weekly to keep her social life active. She loved anything thing that involved music and went to bingo quite often too. My mother slightly apprehensive about my grandmother moving there because she was worried that if something happened with her health, nobody would notice. It was quite the contrary. Anytime we would visit, the staff would tell us if she had a good or off couple of days. In fact, they notified us of some behavior changes that were worrisome. If my grandmother had been at her previous home alone, it may have taken slightly longer to notice. Overall, Eliza Jennings is a wonderful place that gives seniors the privacy and independence they deserve with assistance when needed.
