Camden Nursing Facility INC.

My mother is currently in this nursing home. She was placed there after a light stroke. She lost the use of her arm and was not able to walk unassisted any more. She has to be in a wheel chair now. I am not knowledgeable on nursing homes but I can tell you that this one seems to be ok. The residents do a lot of art projects and they seem to be kept busy by the staff. The residents also attend a weekly church service in which a member of different clergy come by to have service. The place seems to be clean and the staff are always willing to help. One of the staff members gives me updates on my mother because I live in another state and can not visit like I want to. I feel this staff member goes out of her way to do this because I know she does not have to. I am not thrilled about my mother having to be at this place but she is getting the care she needs and it is the kind of care that the family is not able to provide. I know the facility does not have much but what they have they do a good job with it. The residents all seem to be happy and well cared for. If I had to do it all over again I would pick this place for my loved one.

I think the facility was better than I expected. Camden in is the part of Alabama which is called the black belt. The black belt is know for being an impoverished area of Alabama. I expected the place to have a bad smell and the residents to look very unhappy, unkempt, etc. I was rather surprised to not notice any bad smell in the place. My grandmother did not have a private room but her room was very clean and it had some of artwork that she had done on the walls. So that let me know that she is participating in activities while she is there.
