I feel it my duty to report on my experiences with this nursing home. Fortunately we were able to transfer my mother, who is bedridden and has Alzheimer's, to a better facility in another state. Her stay at Heritage was a never-ending source of worry and upset to me, due to the poor care. It was mostly due to the severe under-staffing the Pruitt Corporation maintains, despite being a highly profitable business. Although I monitored the situation daily, and made many separate complaints at all levels, there was never any consistent improvement. If I visited in the evening, I was sure to find my mother with food in her bed, and dried food all over her hands. She could not feed herself, but would be given a food tray and left to pick at food with her hands. Over the course of a year, her weight went from 125 to 90lbs., which I was not made aware of until I had her transferred and the new facility reported her weight upon arrival. In addition, she developed pressure sores twice, and several falls were reported. I would have gotten her out of there sooner, but my mother said she wanted to stay there, and I needed my sisters to step in to take better control of the situation. If you care about your loved one, think really hard before you place them in any of the Pruitt Corporation chain of facilities. They have a lot of B.S. brochures and videotapes about how wonderful they are, but they put profits above staffing and care.
