I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My Aunt passed away in this horrible place . Her death certificate stated STARVATION. A caring aid tried to tell me secretly when I was leaving that she was not being taken care of or fed .She asked me to please help. My Aunt died 2 days later . This place must be shut down so this doesn’t happen any longer.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father was sent to this nightmare of a place, last minute the night before Christmas Eve. When my mom and I rushed there the next day. The horror show we felt like we entered was like no other. The rooms where 3 patients, per. Dirty floors, walls and the furniture was falling apart. The bed my father was in, had rust looked like it was way overdue to get disposed of. The atmosphere was so disturbing with constant screaming and residents not getting controlled always walking in my fathers room, way over crowed. For the most part the aids where around and attentive, till the weekend... the opposite spectrum was the patients being completely drugged up. My father was so drugged up on a Sunday when they didn’t know we where coming, he couldn’t even speak, the drugs where not charted on his chart in the room. We had to call the EMTS, they couldn’t get a response, they rushed his to the hospital. There we find out that he had a virus he contracted and pneumonia. He would have died if my mom and I didn’t go that day to visit. With that said, DO NOT send your loved one their. They just want to take your money and hope no one talks about the deplorable conditions.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father is in Andover Subacute and Rehab II, and it's fine so far. The staff is friendly. There are two people in a room. He has a little bit of dementia, so they monitor him and make sure that he takes his medications. They do physical therapy, they have games, Bingo, cards, art, and they have a salon and haircutting services there.

The WORST place to send your loved one! Understaffed, filthy and I wouldn't feed the food to my dog. My Mom was sent there without my permission and I am getting her out of there ASAP. This place should be shut down.

I am/was a resident of this facility

As a long term resident at this facility I would NOT RECOMMEND anyone coming here. Alot of aides take forever to help or someone will come and say they'll get help but help never comes. Alot of dementia patients are with the sub acute and long term residents and walk or wheelchair around aimlessly and yell and scream through out the night keeping you awake. The rooms are not cleaned well. The place smells, especially at night. No staff respects your privacy and walk right in at all hours. No respect!!!. The food is the worst, mostly inedible. I am constantly hungry. No snacks. Stay as far away as you can from here!!!

I am/was a resident of this facility

Patients do not receive a high level or even fair level of hygiene and care. Hair, nails, dental care not attended to at all.

I visited this facility

We went to visit Andover Nursing Home. I saw that they have more clients, and it felt like a busier hospital for the elderly and for those who lost their memory. It had a very busy atmosphere in a pretty nice location, and they have everything locked in for lockdown so that nobody would just wander off, but they are able to go outside on the patio where they have picnic tables and grassy areas. Their dining hall is very nice.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My Mother has not received proper care. Many of the care givers do not speak English, which is very unfair to the residents. My Mother has suffered abuse at this facility. This facility needs to be shut down. They drug the patients, and force them into diapers and wheelchairs. I have never seen anymore than two Aids on a wing. Please do not lace your loved one here!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I like Andover a lot, but my husband had fights with his roommates. The staff was exceptional. One lady, Helen, always helped me every time I had a question or needed something. She wanted to get my number so she could call and check up on George. We really got to know each other. There are always activities going on there.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Andover subacute resided on fairly well maintained grounds with plenty of open space for resident's to enjoy. The majority of the nursing staff was friendly, but the housekeepers and assistants left little to be desired. They did not speak English and did not seem capable of being able to meet the needs of the residents. Often, residents would be left in the hallways for extended periods of time, or wheeled into the activities room to be forgotten until meals were served. The nursing staff seemed competent and were always attentive to the resident's needs. My grandmother always spoke very highly of them, but she did not like the housekeepers. On more than one occasion, she would come back to her room to find things moved and/or missing. Overall, the facilities were nice, but they should look to hiring more well trained assistants and housekeepers that can at the least, interact better with the residents.

I am a past client of this provider

My dad stayed here for a month. To be honest, I picked this facility because this is the only one available after his hospital discharge. This place has a nice area around it with a beautiful garden where patients could hang out on a nice weather. I was satisfied with the care the staff provided to my father. When he arrived there, he was not very cognitive and ambulatory but after some time he was more independent already. They monitored him completely. They were very nice group of people, helpful and always caring. However, the lower level for visitation area is also the same exit for patients. It's a bit distracting. It would be nice if there's another area for the exit. I will recommend this place to others who needs this similar service.

My loved one stayed here

Facility does not have sufficient nursing staff to perform required tasks before admin of certain meds. My husb was on b.p. meds, for which he must have b.p. taken before each dose (i.e. 2x a day) and if b.p. too low they shoudl not give. Vital signs, including b.p., are done only once a week!! There was a problem and I asked the LPN on duty for my husband's last b.p. and she said she did not know but thought it had been done a few days before. In addition, he needed to go the ER for possible hemorrhage and I had to fight them on the phone (it was a Saturday night) for almost 2 hours and then the doctor refused to write the order. I then had to call the police to have him removed from there and taken to the ER. Once he was there, it turned out they gave him only minimal care as they did not accept his NY Medicaid insurance as the facility is in NJ. and then discharged him back to the facility. I threatened to sue them and one of the nurses actually got on the phone and said to me, "maybe we will sue you for harrassment". I asked her if she had the authority to say such a thing and there was dead silence and she said no. It is a truely terrible place. I would not send my dog there.
