I visited this facility

I toured Wellington at Hershey's Mill. It has a very lovely setting. The grounds are, beautiful. The buildings themselves are very attractively laid out. The entrance foyer was delightful. We had a tour guide who was very good, very informative, very helpful, and answered most of my questions. The dining room was spacious, and it looked like the meals were served restaurant-style. They have a swimming pool and they say have all kinds of sightseeing tours to places nearby. We're close to Valley Forge, West Chester University, and only a 20-minute ride from Philadelphia.

I like the size of the apartments at Wellington at Hershey's Mill, both the one-bedroom apartment and the studio. They were spacious compared to the others. It looked pleasant. The woman that did the tour was excellent and very knowledgeable. I liked the restaurants and the activities they have for the residents. I also liked the proximity of the nurses to the areas that were in charge. They have a gym, a gathering area, and recreations.

I toured Wellington at Hershey's Mill. What I like best about them was the staff and the facilities themselves. They were clean and neat, and everything was in order. The people that lived there seemed very happy. There were lots of activities going on. The director and the assistant were very responsive to calls and questions, and they gave a thorough overview of what to expect. The thing that I found tough there was parking. It seemed to be limited parking. The rooms were beautiful, spacious, and clean, and they have heated bathrooms, too, which I thought was very nice. Their menu is home-cooked comfortable comfort food. It looked like they have a good variety of food. The dining facility was very clean, too. The community was homey and comfortable. The floors were carpeted. It was like a hotel, and it was very nice. I saw different activities being done. They also had a little bound book for Christmas that they made, and there were pictures of residents decorating the tree and making cookies, so I thought that was a nice touch, too. We know someone in there, which was one of the reasons we looked there. I got a very warm feeling in there, and from what I saw on the calendar, they have tons of activities to do.

We are choosing Wellington at Hershey's Mill for my mother. It was nicely decorated. It seemed like there were a lot of activities. There were a lot of people around, like the residents were gathering in the common space. We met some of the staff, and they were very nice. It looked like the residents were very comfortable there. They had a wellness pool where you can exercise, which was unusual. I think that was an amenity that was very attractive. There was also a salon. The dining area was very nice and it's nicely decorated. I could tell that the residents were comfortable and enjoying their dining experience.

Provider Response

We absolutely love what we do here, and your review goes a long way toward making us feel appreciated. Thank you.

Wellington is very convenient from where I am now. The room I saw had a living room, an open kitchen, and then a little hallway to a den. There was a bedroom with a bath. The staff who accommodated me was a gentleman. He was very nice. He's only been there since January, but he did a good job. There was lunch and a snack bar, and it was very good. They have a swimming pool, an art club, various classes and lectures, and take trips.

My visit to Wellington at Hershey's Mill was good. The facility was good; my father just decided it was too expensive. They offer meals, activities, crafts and that kind of stuff. They weren't doing it at the time of my tour but they do movie nights, trivia, and those kinds of activities.

My mother lived at The Wellington for several years before moving to live closer to her family, which was out of state. The facilities were nice, though the very long hallways could use chairs at intervals for those who tire easily. When my mother moved out to be closer to her family, she went to the post office to arrange to have her mail forwarded. The USPS advised her that the Wellington is responsible for forwarding residents' mail. This was not done, and as a result my mother lost some crucial coverage and was required to take the lengthy steps to reinstate it.

Loved one spent Christmas 2020 in the dark from morning to afternoon with no meals. Family couldn’t visit because of Covid and loved one was not checked on. For the cost this is disappointing and unacceptable.

Wellington was a very fine facility. It just cost too much. Everything was great. It was a very nice place if they could afford it. They had small apartments, and they had everything there that she would need.

Wellington was very nice. We liked it, but I don’t think it’s the right fit for my parents. The apartments are very nice, it’s very clean, and everything is in good order. It’s a very nice community, with a very nice setting and neighborhood, so the environment is good.

My father is at the rehab unit of Wellington. We think it's excellent and are very happy with it. The staff has a lot of professionalism, care, and concern. The rooms are very nice. They have entertainment and exercise.

Wellington at Hershey's Mill's assisted living area was beautiful, pretty new, and gorgeous. It's state-of-the-art and had all the bells and whistles. The room was nice, large, bright, and sunny. The personal care area was separate from assisted living. It was a smaller area that was dark and gloomy looking and had people in wheelchairs sleeping. They provided a whole list of activities and trips. It was very nice. I'd give the personal care a 3 just because it was kind of dark and small. It's not very expensive.

My mother has been at the Wellington for 11 years. It's been fine, but it recently changed hands, so the quality of care has gone down and the price has gone up. She has a one-bedroom apartment, which I think is bigger than what she needs. The activities seem to be more like arts and crafts or music where somebody comes in from the outside, but I wish they were more physical. The change in ownership was not a positive thing, and I’m not sure at this point how things are going to turn out.

The thing that was appealing to me about Wellington was that there was not a big upfront fee; you pay by the month. The apartment I was able to look at was very nice. The inside areas were nice. They had a small area where you could get sandwiches in addition to a formal dining room. The greeters and the people at the door were very helpful. The people that live there appeared to be happy. I would give them a rating of five stars for the appearance of the place.

Hershey's Mill is a condominium; it is not assisted living. It is like independent living. My mom lived there for like 7 or 8 years. It is nice. The cleanliness and maintenance of the place is very nice. They had a lot of activities. They had a lot of groups like the computer club and the antique club. This facility is very nice. My mother enjoyed her stay here at Hershey's Mill

Wellington At Hershey's Mill was very nice, and I loved it. I liked that you could have dogs and you had your own private entrance. Everybody I knew who lived there liked it. They had one-bedroom apartments. It had a kitchen, dining room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a little deck. The sanitation was very good, and they had tons of activities. They had swimming, and they were playing some sort of card game.

With Wellington Retirement Living, I liked the fact that they don't have an upfront fee and that's a plus for me. It was closer to my son's house, so I thought that might be the best place for me. The facility looked very nice from the outside, but I was very disappointed at the interior. It looked very, very dark. There was nothing light or airy about it. Also, it did not smell good. The apartment that I was shown was very ill kept. It was not furnished and it was too small. The whole thing just looked neglected to me. I had built homes. I have been my own contractor many times, and I perhaps looked at things a little differently, but it simply was very unpleasant. We weren't even invited to see their dining room and the staff were not very helpful. I didn't feel the person who showed us around liked her job very much.

I am/was a resident of this facility

After several years of searching for my next home, I chose Wellington Hall for a myriad of reasons. One, I didn't have to sell my house to afford Wellington since the accommodations are provided on a monthly basis. My independent living apartment (1238 sq ft) consists of two huge bedrooms (one to use as an office), two full bathrooms, washer/dryer, complete kitchen with microwave, full size 'fridge' and stove, dishwasher, and garbage disposal. Monthly fee includes all taxes and utilities (my own hot water heater, HV/AC, basic cable, electricity) and a full underground garage for all residents. Also included are 20 meals a month (optional). Each apartment has its own patio or balcony (72 sq ft), housekeeping twice a month, plumbing and structural maintenance on demand for no fee. Full telephone and internet access for minimal fee. Second, the migration between independent living to assisted living or nursing care and back again after illness or hospitalization and rehabilitation is facilitated by the caring and energetic staff. Entertainment onsite and offsite via our own bus is a real boon for those no longer able to drive. Third, residents no longer have to pay property taxes, but are eligible for rent rebates from Pennsylvania and are also eligible to deduct a percentage of medical expenses from their individual tax returns! In sum, as a CCRC, Wellington Hall is in full compliance with state CCRC certification.
