The overall tour we had at Holiday Glenville was great. The community was nice. It was very buzzing, like it felt alive, and there was a lot of energy in the community. They had an open atrium style where all the rooms faced the courtyard. It's very bright and airy. The rooms were fine. They were pretty good-sized. The woman who toured us was friendly and helpful. The dining area was also nice because it's in the atrium. It's like being in the middle of the courtyard. So, it almost feels like a hotel.

We moved Mom's stuff in at Holiday Glenville, but she never got there. It was amazing. They were very welcoming and very accommodating. They were flexible because we weren't sure when Mom would come. They understood that she needed aides, and they had aides they could provide and we'd have to pay for it. When she passed away, they ended up not even collecting any money from us. They gave us her rent back. She had paid for one month. The facility was very clean. Everybody's friendly. We talked to a lot of the residents and they were very happy. They have a lot of activities. They have a lot of things geared to people that are anywhere from 60 to 99, and they do what they say they're going to do. It's all very evident and they make it like home, but they provide meals. The food looked good. We met at least six members of the staff and they were very accommodating but also friendly and acted like we knew each other forever. They were very family oriented and they wanted their facility to be like that and they certainly did. It didn't seem like a corporate-run kind of place. We were very happy with it and the cost is low compared to many. I saw the aides interacting with some people that needed a lot of help and they were amazing.

Holiday Glenville is a different kind of environment when you walk in. It's much more open. It's like an atrium with high ceilings. It's like being in a very large hotel with all the rooms looking down on the eating area. To the right area, the first thing you see is every place where the people would eat. The left is more of a social area with very high ceilings, all the way up to the top. They have glass that looks outside. It's open up to the sky. And as you're looking around, you can see all the doors of all the apartments. They have their own little balconies to look down on the common area. It is a very different look. It was nice. It was pretty. They have some community rooms that are tucked in the back away from the open atrium, and they were fine. The apartments had their own little kitchen area, which is okay. They had activities, and they had a calendar posted, and it was great. They have something where they can offer you some services for a small fee. If somebody is becoming a little bit more in need of assistance, they can get it and still stay there. So that's good. They even have a social area. They have areas where you can get lemonade and iced tea available all the time. I talked to the woman who gave me the tour and she was great.

Holiday Glenville was exceptional. The thing is, financially, my brother made too little money to be able to live there. I liked the lady who showed us the place. It was nice and clean. I liked the activities. I liked the way it was set up. They were willing to try to work with us as best they could. I liked everything about it. The lady was very caring, kind, and considerate. She kept everything in mind what we told her. She was very good. Everything that I saw was very good. They had a beautician or barber, a laundry room, a library, an entertainment room, and a dining room. Everything was very good.

Holiday Glenville was very nice. The facility was quite large. It was three floors and it's got a big open area in the center, where the rooms surrounded that area. The rooms we saw were quite spacious. Everything was clean and people were very friendly. The salesperson that showed us around was very gracious. They're very accommodating. They just didn't have some activities for active seniors. In other words, it seemed like more of an old people's home. That kind of turned us off a little bit there. It was certainly very nice, but I think the prices were a little bit higher (of course being closer to the metropolitan area and very close to Albany, which is in Schenectady). They had all the typical things like a library, arts and crafts type room, and yoga classes. Then they have parties. They did not have anything like a real exercise room. So, they were limited that way. There was no swimming pool, but the biggest thing that impressed me was that it was right in a fairly populated area and it's right near a county airport.

We visited Holiday at the Atrium. It was a very good place and we're very pleased with it. We liked it a lot. The staff was excellent. We saw a 2-bedroom and it was very nice. They had lots of good activities for the residents. Their amenities were nice, clean, bright, and very well-maintained. They also provide transportation as needed.

I liked the Holiday at the Atrium, that's my favorite place so far. The tour was great and the person who gave me the tour was wonderful. I like the layout, it had a good open layout. And because my mom's not very ambulatory, any place she has to go, she doesn't have for that she has to walk. The rooms were just standard apartments, they're pretty small, but that would be enough for her. It had everything she needed, like the fridge, the stove, and the bedroom, the room seemed pretty nice. They also have weekly cleaning, and church, they had an arts and crafts room, and the laundry room was very accessible. I liked the dining room setup, they also have these little areas where you can go get a cup of coffee or grab a snack.

The woman that gave us the tour of Holiday at the Atrium was very nice and very informative. She went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. My husband, myself, and my mom went there and they offered us lunch. Mom said it was very good. It was just an older facility and mom did not like that they only had a community washer and dryer on each floor. I still liked the facility, because you were kind of like on a cruise ship. All the rooms were all around the outside of the perimeter and you could look down over the atrium where the dining room was and a lot of their activities were done. The roof was all glass. So it was very bright on a sunny day. It was just very calming to me. It was a nice setting.

I toured Holiday at the Atrium. I thought it was wonderful. The place was clean. I'd move there myself. It was independent living, but if my cousin wanted extra help, he'd have to pay. If you run out of money, they don't transition to Medicaid. You have to find another place to live. Everybody there seemed to be very happy. The staff was very knowledgeable. Of course, she was selling the place to us, but I thought she did a very good job. Everything was open. You can sit where you want and do what you want, which I thought was very good. They had a gym. It was out in the open. They had a hair salon. You had to do your own laundry, but it didn't cost anything. They had a washer and dryer on each floor. You also had to furnish your own apartment.

From the very beginning, the Holiday at the Atrium has been very helpful. They're very compassionate knowing I had just lost my husband. It's an independent living and for activities, they have bingo, cards, and another game that is played with tiles. They have crafts too and tomorrow we're going to go and see the tulips. The food here is very good. The staff is caring and friendly. The apartment I have is very nice and easy to get around.

We visited the Holiday at the Atrium in Glenville. If I have to go someplace, that would be it for me because it just feels like you're outside. It's a courtyard kind of setting and everything opens to the center with a wide-open glass ceiling so you wouldn't feel like you're cooped up in a building. They're set up as independent living but they have contractors that you can hire if you need, for example, someone to make sure your loved one is taking their meds. They have people with whom they have a working relationship with. They don't work for them but can call them to come in for different levels of care. Some of them are even there all the time. The staff was very helpful and very knowledgeable. They explained all the ins and outs of the different levels of care. They have a whole list of the different care providers if you need them. I think they had a little bit of everything. They had a salon, barbershop, and a dining room. Their dining room was actually in their big atrium area and it's like eating outdoors. They also have a game room and weight room.

The only place that I've toured in person is the Holiday at the Atrium and I very much liked it. It's an independent living and the staff that took me on the tour were very hospitable. They showed me the entire facility, including the activity rooms, the facilities, the dining area, and the open spaces. They were large and impressive. The apartments were very clean and well-kept. There's more than one room so it didn't feel like a studio, it's more like an apartment, and there's a separate bedroom. I think they have one- and two-bedroom apartments, but they all enter like inside on a quad. It's all inside so you walk out of the room but you're still inside in the quad where they serve food and stuff. They provide 3 meals a day and in addition to that, relatives who want to go and visit the people that are staying there can have a meal for $5. That's any meal with them if they want to sit down and enjoy them. I thought it was a very nice option. They have a multi-denominational church religious facility. They have a crafts facility and large rooms that you can have birthday celebrations and other celebrations in. They have a library, a puzzle room, and there are 2 or 3 large activity rooms on each floor. I think it was a 3-floor facility. The staff was very nice as soon as I walked in. They were able to assist me and send me to the woman, Lynn, who was the coordinator and the one who gave me the tour. She was very friendly and she showed me everything that I was interested in seeing in the facility. She showed me around things that I wasn't even asking about. Just to make sure I had a full understanding of what the place offered and the features that it had and provided. They were very nice, very polite, and very accommodating. I know that they had a 24-hour coffee stand, which I thought was cool, but I didn't see anybody eating or having any meals myself. I like the layout. It's kind of open in the middle and the perimeter has all the apartments in it so everybody can kind of see each other, but you still have a little bit of privacy in your room. I thought it was a nice balance of the community. It was really neat. I was impressed.

We're choosing Holiday at the Atrium for my husband because it's a friendly place. I love the atrium with all the sunshine. The apartments were very nice. I had some dinner and it was good, everything was good. They worked hard with us. The atrium is a big community room, there's a dining room, and there's an activity area. It's just a big room, then the rooms go around it, and then there are balconies on the second and third floors. It's very nice, and the plants grow well and they get all that sunshine. You could walk around, everything goes in a circle, I think eight rounds is a mile. They have an exercise room, a library, and a laundry room. They have some transportation for shopping or doctor's appointments.

The staff at Holiday at the Atrium was friendly and informative. The residents seemed happy, but we found it too large and impersonal for my parent's needs. The facility is just very large, and I guess the word I would use is cavernous. If you were looking for something that was a little bit more homey, this would not be the place that you wanted to go. It's just too large.

Provider Response

Hi Robert, thank you for considering The Atrium. We regret we are not the perfect fit for you, but if anything changes please let us know and we'd be happy to assist you all!

My mother is really liking it at Holiday at the Atrium in Glenville, and our experience is good. Their staff is adequate, all our needs are met. I just think they're maxed out. Some people when they have more time can go and do above and beyond but all our needs are met. There was a problem with a leak in the ceiling bathroom which was promptly fixed, and a couple other things that needed to be fixed once she got in, like the sink. The AC and the temperature looks good, she has a beautiful window looking out into the atrium. All the people that are there, the residents, are very friendly. What's really nice about it is that all the rooms face the central atrium, which is really beautiful, it's a wide open floor with lots of plants, a little fish pond with a brick wall around it. It has a dining area and a few workout machines so that when people are walking outside they can also see other people, which is nice. It's not secluded hallways where you can't see anybody, it's like a big window opening out to the center. It's really good for people who feel secluded and alone. They're pretty good. My sister has tried the food and she likes it. My mother is happy with the food as well.

My mother-in-law is in Holiday at the Atrium. We went there twice before the lockdown. The staff seemed pleasant and confident. We had a couple of meals there that were good, they served it warm, and they were pleasant. The actual accommodations, the one-bedroom unit, was completely adequate, and the facility seemed to be well taken care of. The one drawback is the outside grounds. It leaves a lot to be desired, and there's really not much appeal to the grounds outside. They seemed to have a lot of activities for the residents before the lockdown. They're struggling now, but they're still trying.

Provider Response

Hello, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to have your mother-in-law is a resident at our community! During this time, many of our community operations are looking quite different in regards to COVID-19 protocols that have been put into place, and we encourage you to reach out to our management team if you would like to discuss further.

I thought the building at Holiday at the Atrium was marvelous. Every apartment overlooks a courtyard, and has a balcony. It's in a very pretty location, but my only hesitation is that it's 14 miles away from my house. I thought the food was very good, but the person I was having a meeting with wasn't there that day. The patients seemed fine, and everybody looked clean and happy. The building is a big square, and it has a glass roof.

Holiday at the Atrium was great for independent living. It fosters to anybody who will be looking for more of an activity and a social atmosphere. It had a big atrium and it had a nice feel to it. They had a lot of activities going on, but they do not offer any enhanced care. The rooms were very nice. I had no problems with it. The staff did a very good job. They spent a lot of time with us, and they were very personable. We were there during ice cream socials.

Holiday at the Atrium was very disappointing, the residents looked like a group of people just sitting there and waiting to die. The person who gave us the tour was very accommodating and upbeat, she was trying to make the place seem bright, but it really wasn’t. We saw the folks that were eating there, and it looked fine. They also said we could stay there for two days to see what it was like, but we declined. Some of the amenities include a laundry area, a room setup for interdenominational religious services, and so on. The nature of the folks that were there just seemed really elderly, and the living units looked more like an old motel that was made up for someone to stay in.

Provider Response

Hi Tony, we are sorry to hear you had a negative experience at Holiday at the Atrium. We strive to help older independent people live better. Our residents are served three meals a day, provided scheduled activities in and out of the community, and daily housekeeping and maintenance is taken care of. Thank you for taking the time to let us know how we can improve. We hope you will consider us again in the future. Take care.

The people that showed us around Holiday at the Atrium were wonderful, but it really wasn't what I was looking for. It was like a nursing home. I liked the fact that they have the dining room and it was like a hotel. They have activities and they take residents on trips. The staff was excellent, very helpful, very nice, and showed us everything.

Holiday at the Atrium was not for my mother because of the open area was so sunny; my mother couldn't handle that because she gets migraines. The rooms were nice, though. The other community had more of a homey appearance, and Holiday at the Atrium had more of an apartment appearance that was not that comfortable feeling. It didn't meet my mother's needs.

My experience with Holiday was very good. However, the apartments were small, and I did not like the coliseum-style complex because I was afraid of heights. The staff was very nice. There was an exercise room, and they played games, but it just not comparable with the other independent living place I visited. The price was a little higher than others, and it was about a half an hour ride away.

We like the location of the Holiday at the Atrium; it is not far from our home. We like the fact that mom has freedom still and she has her own apartment, not just a tiny room. We like the personnel; they are very nice people to work with. She gets to keep her dog, the food is fantastic, and it is a good location for her to be able to get to her doctors also because they have bus transportation. We had to ask quite a few times to get the shower head changed and a few other maintenance things to be done. All three meals are provided. They do the light housekeeping and all the cooking. They have a lot of things every month. Last month it was Mardi Gras, this month it is St. Patrick's Day, and a lot of their meals are themed to that. They do bingo, they do all kinds of different things like bus trips, they are going to the community college for lunch this Thursday, and they not only have them participate at the facility, but they take them out to participate as well.

I toured Holiday at the Atrium. The people seemed to be very happy. There were a lot of people there in walkers, wheelchairs, and scooters. It was very interesting except they didn't have assisted living. Everybody was eating happily there, so the food must be good. It was probably the cheaper place to stay because it's independent living with meals.

Holiday at the Atrium was plain depressing to walk into. The facility looked old; it looked like at one time it might have been a hotel, and they took the guest rooms and made them into apartment type rooms. The average age was 82. The healthiest person we saw was using a walker; this was an assisted living place and not an independent living.

My grandmother has been in Holiday at the Atrium for nine months now, and we love it. We like everything about it so far. It doesn't feel like it's a place for that kind of living -- it's more like a hotel. They have a church on the premises, and she does the church activities. I have tried eating there, and it's OK.

They try to keep the elderly busy. They have an ice cream social on Wednesday afternoons.

Holiday at the Atrium is a nice facility. It was recommended to us by somebody. We went to see if we liked it, and we did. I like the atmosphere of the dining area. Even though they are enclosed, they have a sky light, so there is always light. The staff are very nice and friendly people. My mom was at the Holiday at the Atrium because she liked it when we went there. The people were very nice. She had her own apartment with bedroom, bath, living area, kitchen and a balcony. The kitchen was designed such that she cooked if she wanted. Shewould sit and have coffee in her balcony. They also allowed pets like cats, dogs and birds as long as they were kept in your own room. There were various activities like exercise, movies, spiritual meetings, outings, shoppings, and they could also take you to appointments. She was comfortable there.

The Atrium is very good. They make sure you have everything you need as far as food and the physical setup of the place. The rooms here are bigger and the people in it are also very nice. I have no complaints about the food. It's been very good and they give you the main choice for each meal and then they give you five other choices. There was a lot of card playing and a movie everyday. They also have yoga and exercises like that. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday they have live music. We asked the people who worked there and the people who lived there how long they've been there and the people have been here 5 to 7 years and the managers are here a couple of years at least. I think it's excellent.
