Atria on Roslyn Harbor

I chose Atria because it's close to my home and my children. I have an apartment in a very nice hotel that's on the harbor. It's very pretty with flowers. The people working here are the finest in the community and all well-trained. The only thing it lacks is a swimming pool. It has health activities and shows. Some people like the food while others don't. They need to learn how to cook without salt because the residents say there's too much salt on their food. Other than that, I think that most people here are happy.

I visited this facility

I was looking for something more independent and I found the Atria Senior Living. I didn't need assisted living for my parents. The place was very nice, very well kept, and people seemed to be very nice. They had a lot of activities and flexibiity with the dining options. I tried their food and I thought it was very good. The staff was very friendly and caring. I liked best that the apartments were very nice sized, the kitchens were well equipped, and it was a large apartment. Atria is easily accessible for all our family members because we live in different places. So we needed something that was centrally located because we come from the island and Manhattan to see them.

The facility was both clean and well maintained. The room was well furnished giving the resident a very nice experience including a small kitchen space with a microwave. Meals were served daily and the food was actually delicious. The staff was caring and attentive to all residents of facility making sure to check on each person individually multiple times a day to make sure they needed anything let it be medication or a drink. The room also included a refrigerator to keep any food the resident wanted to keep for snacks or coffee

I always look forward to my visits to this community, not only is the North Shore location gorgeous but the staff is always so welcoming and helpful and they know how to run a senior living community in a way that is ethical, organized, and effortless. They make it look so easy when I know that it's not. I have NEVER ONCE seen this community in a chaotic state, and I can't say that for any other community. Now, I know that I am not there everyday and that maybe I am just visiting on good days - but for as long as I have been visiting I'm sure I would have seen something by now if I was going to. Even the residents tell me that they hardly ever see a day that is frenzied, they say that if something does happen the staff members are really good about getting the situation or issue under control before it effects the residents or interferes with their routines in any way. The residents seem to really like and trust the staff members. Every time I visit they always have wonderful things to say about the staff and the community. They love to tell me about the new activities and programs and exciting experiences they've had since my last visit, they are for the most part pretty active - they like to have the option of having things to do - they like that the community allows them to maintain as busy a lifestyle as they wish. They residents love being involved in group activities, they really enjoy all of the social events and entertainment that take place within the community but they also love going on special outings together - they are so close to some great Long Island venues, shops, restaurants, etc. So they like to go out as a group as often as possible.

I can tell that the staff members have a deep respect for each and every resident, they really do seem to care very much about their comfort and happiness. I can see clearly that they put the residents well-being above everything else and they are very protective of the residents. I love that if an unfamiliar face walks in to the community, the staff will IMMEDIATELY approach the person, but in a friendly, welcoming, and inquisitive manner.

The community is very lovely, everything is designed and scaled perfectly according to the independence and ability of the residents, everything is easily accessible to them and there are many safety features throughout. They have a wonderful emergency call system as well for the residents to use as needed. The apartments are also very secure and they allow for the residents to feel a sense of independence and privacy - the staff members really respect that privacy and I have never seen them enter a residents apartment without knocking or announcing themselves - you may be thinking that this is normal, but I cannot tell you how many communities I have been to where I have seen the staff members just barge right in to the resident apartments - no knocking, no warning, no nothing. This actually happens frequently in many, many, many communities so that is why I am always so impressed with the Sterling Glen staff - they really do treat the residents in a way that they themselves would like to be treated and cared for and that is a very special quality to find in a care team.

The community is gorgeous - the way it looks from the outside, the architecture, design, and the landscaping and everything else about the community always reminds me of The White House or an old southern plantation home. It's beautiful, it's just not what you would expect in a independent living community, but that's okay because the residents love it and that's all that matters. Kids love it to, they love running about, exploring the facility, playing and running freely on the grounds - they just always seem to have a blast and the residents really seem to thoroughly enjoy their presence. One of my favorite spots is on the balcony - so many resident's just love being out there - you have a perfect view of the water and the community grounds. I could spend hours out there.

This is absolutely the perfect community - I think - it's gorgeous, the views are breathtaking, the residents receive the highest quality of personalized care, the residents have so many options and are able to live the lifestyles they choose, the amenities, services, activities, events, entertainment, programs, opportunities, and everything else are some of the best I have seen offered in a senior living community, families are very involved in the community, and best of all the residents are happy and safe and they are thrilled to call Sterling Glen their home. I would highly recommend checking this community out and I am certain that you will be very impressed and I am sure you and/or your loved ones will fall in love with the idea of beginning the next chapter of their lives in such an outstanding community. The ONLY downfall is the fees are a bit steep - but look at the location and EVERYTHING that they offer and provide to the residents - I would tell you if the community wasn't worth the price but I am confidently telling you that this community IS WELL WORTH the cost of living here.
