I visited this facility

I like Parkwood Village & Landing better. They were very friendly and they showed us all around. The other place didn't act like they care whether we go in or not. Parkwood Village & Landing was really nice, and they called to check to see what we found out and all that. It's better personality and all there. The staff were very nice. The rooms were very nice, well taken care of, and clean. They had an outdoor big porch and a pretty view. They had salons and different areas like that.

Provider Response

Thanks for sharing this Ann. We're thrilled to see you were impressed with everything you saw and heard during your visit. Please let us know if you have any further questions and we hope to see you again soon!

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have already moved into Parkwood Village and Landing. The Parkwood Village is the constant care unit, and then they got The Landing, which is apartments for independent living. I'm in The Landing, and I have nurses that help me. In other words, they have 24-hour care, and they have a lot of activities. They serve you breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have 28 apartments in this building. It's very, very nice. They have 24-hour emergency care. They have activities, they have programs, and they have devotional every Wednesday where somebody comes in and leads them with that. Today, they have somebody teach oil painting, and it's all free. They have games like bingo, canasta, and card games. They have transportation that takes you out to places like farms, and if you have doctor's appointment, they'll take you to it. They have housekeeping, and they clean your house a couple times a week. It's pretty complete care. They have a nice garden outside with a fountain. The residents are amazing. It's expensive to live here, and so we have some very talented and well-experienced people here. They have linen and tablecloths in the dining room. They have desserts, salads, soups, and two entrees. They serve you at your table. They have beautiful amenities, and it is all well-landscaped, groomed, and clean. I don't have to pay for utilities or taxes. We have an exercise room and physical therapists. This is the best place of all.

I visited this facility

We visited Parkwood Village & Landing, and the apartments were very nice and spacious. Everyone seemed happy. They had a library, a rec room, a small workout room, a beautician who comes once a week, a card group, and outside activities. They had a very nice kitchen, a good menu, and setup where they serve the guests. The staff was very accommodating and very sweet.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Do not leave your loved one in this facility. This facility used to have a good reputation but is quickly losing it due to incompetent local management. The executive director is unresponsive and indifferent to serious problems and it is only a matter of time before a resident is seriously hurt or worse. The facility has chronic problems keeping staff positions filled. Problems include numerous errors in medicine administration to residents, failure to take basic precautions to prevent residents from falling and below average care of residents.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I have some experience with the company that owns Parkwood Village, which is Five Star. When I found out this place was managed by the same company, it was my overall first choice due to its excellent food, very attentive staff, and very nice facility. The rooms are super nice, and the facility is beautifully appointed and in a super convenient location. Most of all, I’m so impressed with the staff. I like the atmosphere, which is just friendly, clean, and welcoming.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My aunt is living in Parkwood Village & Landing. It's absolutely beautiful. The rooms are phenomenal, and the people are nice -- it's just perfect. They take them to movies and Wal-Mart. They have lots of things for them to do. They serve three meals a day. At night, your family can go and eat there for $5. It's very economical.

I visited this facility

I went to visit Parkwood Village & Landing for a few hours and it's a nice facility. The people are nice as well and I would certainly have no problem putting my mom there. However, it's very expensive. I like that it's new and clean too. The whole visit was very good.

I visited this facility

The people at Landing at Parkwood were very helpful as well as some of the staff. All in all it was okay, but not a great visit. The dining room was okay. The apartments were okay, but nothing special and it was not spacious.

I visited this facility

The Landing at Parkwood was a really nice community. It's got a lot for the elderly to do, so that they're not isolated.Their independent living is separated from the nursing home, so whatever activities they had were geared for independent people. The rooms were beautiful. This will be for my mother-in-law.

I visited this facility

My visit at The Landing was great. It is very similar to the assisted living facility we visited but it doesn't have a nursing staff onsite. However, it is really a nice facility. Their accommodations are great. They are spacious, clean and neat, and you can put your own furniture in them. The staff is very, very nice. When we took my mother-in-law at that place, she met several people. Everybody was really nice to us. This is certainly a place to consider for my mother-in-law.

I am/was a resident of this facility

The Landing at Parkwood Village is an independent living facility, and was built in about 2008. They offer a variety of floorplans for one and two bedroom apartments. The apartments are roomy and well laid out for comfort and and usability. I have lived here for about eleven months, and am very happy to have found this facility. The meals are very tasty and plentiful. The dining room staff is always eager to please the residents. There is a hair salon available, with a hairdresser on duty three days each week. In addition, a provider of pedicure services comes in one day every seven weeks. There is also an exercise room with equipment available for use, with a Physical Therapy department here to provide services if needed. A wide variety of activities are provided to enrich and entertain residents as they choose to participate. The whole staff, on all levels are interested in providing services and an atmosphere that is beneficial and desired by the residents. They listen to and consider wishes of the Resident Council for improvement or betterment of services provided for the residents.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Landing: Building is about 3 yo. Looks good, but sounds travel between walls, floors/ceilings too well. Food: although marketed as "gourmet" to us, not enough healthy veggies & fruits, too heavy on grease, fat, salt, gravy & low quality meats. Portion sizes have been decreased since moving in 3 years ago. Constant complaints about food by residents have not been addressed. Promises of transportation by facility van for shopping/dr. appt. often not kept (van broken, additional rules about van use, changes in hours/days). No trained medical staff on site. If your relative needs some help with transportation, shopping, ADL, they will have to hire aides (more expense) or depend on relatives/friends for help. Staff is nice. Some of the lowest-paid workers are the real gems here. Expensive for what you get. All self-pay (no medicare/medicaid). If I knew then what I know now, I would have chosen a different place for my relative. Facility was recently sold to another for-profit corporation, so I don't know what changes they have made. Apartments are nice, various sizes and layouts. Full kitchens. Beauty salon on site. One reason we moved here was preferential admission to Parkwood Village, the assisted living facility next door; however, when my relative needed assisted living, there was no room, so we had to move my relative to a different place.
