My mom moved into Brookdale North Raleigh. The facility is very well-kept and nice. The size of the room is just enough for my mom. She has a studio apartment. It has a full kitchen. It's nice and modern. They provide a whole array of services there, like laundry, cleaning, and activities. They have activities every day. They have a salon, a library, a recreation room, and a pool table. My mother likes the food. It's almost like restaurant service there.

I visited this facility

Brookdale North Raleigh was our favorite. When we walked in, we could just feel the good community. There were people everywhere. What we wanted was a community. We were most impressed with this place. Every little area that they had of the community, people were there. We just enjoyed that part of it. They had lots of activities going on. They had an indoor swimming pool and a really nice library. The dining area wasn't as nice as some of the other places we saw. They had the buffet style instead of the restaurant style, and that was one of the cons that we had. We were there on a weekend. It was Saturday. So, there wasn't a whole lot of staff there. The person that gave us the tour was the main chef, and we were very impressed with him. Then there was the lady at the desk, who was also very friendly. She talked with us and told us some more parts of the community. We were very impressed with those two people.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am a resident at Brookdale North Raleigh, but I am just younger than most of the residents here. It is a beautiful place and always kept clean. It has nice carpets, floors, and artwork. The lobby is big and has a piano. It is very homey, and a very good place to be in. The director here is very accommodating. His door is always open. You can just walk in and ask him if he has time to talk. He's very hands-on. They take care of mostly everything you need, like taking you to doctor's appointments and helping you with in-home care. They help you with your blood pressure, help you when you move in, hang your paintings, and stuff like that. There are just some things that they cannot accommodate but they do so many things that everybody needs. They can do the shopping for you, too. They have activities going on every day. At night, they bring in different musicians and comics. I particularly like the mix and mingle on Friday afternoons where they serve mixed drinks, beer, and wine. Many times they bring in this really personable man and a lot of fun, and he plays all kinds of music and he gets people up to dance. We also do art, card games, bingo, swim classes, exercise classes, religious services, and community meetings. There is a physical therapy room on site. Some things have changed a little, especially with Covid, like the standards of the meals. The food here is not 5-star, but good. They don't offer as much as they used to for the same price, and then they've gone up. It's also different with the employees now, some are great and some are rude sometimes.

Brookdale North Raleigh was a very nice facility. I liked that they have facilities throughout the country. The facility was clean and welcoming. The staff was knowledgeable and professional. There was an exercise class going on, and socializing in the lobby. The rooms were very nice, spacious, and had several options to choose from.

My mom has moved into Brookdale North Raleigh. We like the location, the friendliness of the people, the residents, and the staff. We like the size of the apartment that they have, the grounds, the activities, and the food. My mom says, sometimes it isn't what she wants, but they have to kind of make it a little neutral as far as the seasoning. Just trying to make sure that people who may have ailments or whatever could eat it. She's fine with that, just starting to get used to it. We saw the people over there. It's really clean and brightly lit there. They take care of the folks well. They're very attentive to any requests that we have, and any need. It's just been a good experience so far. I've had some of the food, I've been there, and there are some things that she didn't like; some of the seasonings and things like that. Overall, I think they're doing a good job. She doesn't completely love the food. In fairness I give that a four. They have exercise programs daily, and all these things daily. They have people coming in to sing, play the piano, or play other instruments. They have someone that does a dancing class, they sit in the chair, and they dance to music. It's called movement is life. They have a game room, and puzzles throughout the area where they sit. They can do different puzzles and checkers. They have their meeting area downstairs in the lobby. They have a nice sitting area for folks to come and sit and get some fresh air. They have two sets of balconies on each floor like public balconies, as well as apartments that have their own private balconies. The grounds are kept clean. They have art classes. They can do pottery, and drawing. They have beautiful rooms where they do art classes. They have a beauty shop and a barbershop on site. They have home health people that are on staff that are available to them all the time. They offer free services for like ten visits or something. It's just things they kind of know and gets familiar with their services. So, if you want to try them without any expense, you can. Then after that, of course, you can use your insurance or you would have to pay for things if you need it. They have some pretty good things in place. They have a pool; there's a warm, heated pool. they have a hot tub as well. So, it's a pretty nice place

I went to Brookdale of North Raleigh. They've got wonderful staff. It's an older building, but everything was good. The only complaint we had was that there was no washer and dryer in the room and we needed a washer and dryer in the room. That was the reason for not picking them. They had a laundry room though. We liked the people and the layout. Everything was fine. We even met the general manager. Everybody was super nice and they had plenty of activities and stuff, too. The deal-breaker for us was the laundry room.

We have chosen Brookdale North Raleigh for my friend. We are happy with it. The overall experience was good. They're good sales counselors. Everyone was friendly. The place was clean. No drawbacks. It is all good. The people are friendly. It makes a good impression. The location is good. It seems like it's in a good area. The rooms are a good size. They're unfurnished, but they're carpeting and cleaning them all up and they'll be ready on Thursday. It’s just satisfactory. They're going to repaint it and clean it up. So, I think it'll be nice to take all the carpets and replace them.

Brookdale North Raleigh was very well managed and very clean. The people were very knowledgeable. The staff was spot on. They answered all the questions. They gave us a good tour of the place, and they were not pushy. They showed us what the options were, and we sat down and went through their plans. The building felt very homey, and we thought it would be a great option for my mom, but she had a really quick decline, and so we have to look elsewhere. They showed us the game room, the library room, and the book room. We went Saturday morning, they showed us the whole courtyard, the garden and all kinds of things. It's very comfortable. We're very impressed. The outdoor spaces were very nice. They had nice gardens set up, nice benches to sit down, and it looked like it was very welcoming, very comfortable, and very clean.

The Brookdale North Raleigh community seemed very lively, and had a broad age range of people. The whole building was large and there were lots of apartments. It seemed like the people were happy there. The rooms were nice and well-equipped. They were a little bit older, so they could use some upgrades in appliances and countertops, but the one-bedrooms that we saw were nice, and they were a nice size. The upkeep looked good, and things are well taken care of. The person who gave the tour was great. Kelly was very kind and upfront. She definitely wanted to show us all the good sides of Brookdale, and she was very nice. The outdoor spaces were beautiful. It was nice to see that residents had built a garden. We saw a lot of the residents during the afternoon hours sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful weather.

We liked Brookdale North Raleigh. It's an independent living community, and it felt welcoming. The only thing is that I live in Cary, so that's one of the reasons we didn't pick it. My parents were also looking for a balcony, and they have very small ones. I thought that the people were warm, and it felt like a welcoming place. It was nice, and they had nice sized apartments. It looked like they had very nice facilities too, and it just had a good feel to it. I didn't have that much interaction, but the people I had interaction with were nice. The people that lived there also seemed friendly. I thought the salesperson was very friendly, very nice, and very informative. They seem to have a lot of activity. They have a nice indoor pool too.

Brookdale North Raleigh is an independent living community. My mom moved there in May. What I like the most are the amenities, the service, and everything that they offer. The staff is good, they're outgoing, helpful, knowledgeable, and forthcoming. They have a swimming pool, they have community games, they even offer music and a lot of community services. They help with the food and the food is good. In general, it's a good place for people that need independent living. She's been in there for a month now and so far, it's been good and I'm satisfied.

We toured Brookdale North Raleigh for my mom, and I think it's really nice. The person who toured us was really nice. She took us for a tour around; I liked it a lot. I think it's very nice. I think they care a lot about people and they're trying to make sure everybody's taken care of. Everything is right there. The amenities are all on the first floor. They have an arts and crafts room, a library, a little cafe, and a dining room. They have a pool there for light therapy. A physical therapist is around, and they have a little salon. They have a lot of stuff there. They have little walking trails around outside. In the dining area, there's a window that kind of wraps around so you can see in the back. A deer will walk up to the window or a bird. There are little trails around too, a garden, and a little green house. They have a little garden thing that is all raised up so people don't have to stoop and bend down. If they decide they like to plant flowers and stuff, they can do that.

We're setting my mom up now to Brookdale North Raleigh and she's moving in there on Monday. Everybody's been friendly and very accommodating. Michelle took her time with me and answered all my questions. She spent a good two hours with me during my visit and she was very thorough. She tried to find out a little bit about my mom, her likes, dislikes, and what her needs would be. She also gave me her cell phone number so I can just continue to ask questions. I got to talk to some of the people too that work there and get some information about them. I went around lunchtime, so I got to see some of the residents and you just kind of get a vibe off of them too, if they're happy, and I just liked the feel of it. That was midday, so there's lots of light, and they can go outside depending on how independent they are. They can walk across the street to the shopping center if they want to. They have a nice courtyard and it's a good location for everything that my mom would need as far as having some doctors for her or other things that she might need if we take her out. The apartment that we chose for her is kind of a mix in between a studio and one-bedroom. It has a separate bedroom area and you just have a door to close it off. There's a small living room, a full-sized kitchen, a bathroom, and all the doors were so wide that I could get her walker in. The tub was set up to just step in it for showers, so their apartments were very well laid out and accommodating. They even have a big walk-in closet that has a wide door. We were able to put a verbal hold on the place until I could get her checked in. From the outside, it kind of looks like a hotel building, just a brick one, but inside I think the layout is very good for people to get around, and it's very clean.

The thing that my dad and I liked the most about Brookdale North Raleigh were the staff, particularly, and also the residents. The residents were incredible, very open, very friendly, and very warm. My dad called it a folksy community, which was in his mind a very positive thing to say about the place. We were able to meet the cafeteria folks and the manager of the dining area, and that was very positive, but we weren't able to sample the food. Because of COVID, everybody is on 30% capacity, so it's very difficult to get a sense of the dining area. When they fully open up, I can project in my mind that it would be a five. The room was clean and the size was OK. The facility just seemed old, and wasn't up-to-date, but it was well taken care of, well managed, and clean.

My mother lived at Brookdale North Raleigh for 18 years. She loved the place. She originally had a 2-bedroom apartment there. We moved her to a 1-bedroom because it was closer to the elevator and she got worse and worse being able to move around. We were happy with the way they took care of people even through the COVID19. She tested negative twice for COVID19 over the last half year but there's no doubt that the lockdown and the loneliness contributed to her not being able to take care of herself by herself. They did not have "assisted living" but they had independent living, although that was not what it was advertised as, when it was still The Heritage. When she moved there, The Heritage got sold to Brookdale and they did have a personalized living center. The nurse who ran it was not active, she just ran the service and they charged money for everything that they did for you. For instance, she was paying $6 for somebody to come up and take her blood pressure for 15 minutes. They charged like $11 dollars for somebody to come up and do the wash for her. They charged $22 dollars to give her a ride to a doctor's appointment. They also had a physical therapy area which had two nurses, but she was only able to use the physical therapy area if she was coming out of the hospital or it was covered by Medicare, and only for a certain period of time ,so they don't have the same services that the other two Brookdale locations have; maybe eventually they will. I would have given them a five except for the fact that my mom needed an assisted living, and she didn't really have it. In order to be able to afford to live there, you have to be pretty well off. Her rent was four times of what my mortgage is, but she was very frugal. I signed up for people to come up and check on her every day during the coronavirus and after a few visits she refused to have them come because she knew she was paying for every visit. We would go over like two or three times every Sunday for Sunday brunch and meet my brother and sister-in-law over there and the five of us would have wonderful brunch. The meals have always been great over there. The dining area is great except that they had to shut that down because of the coronavirus. When they were delivering three meals a day to everybody in their rooms, which was pretty much the last six or eight months that they've been doing that, obviously you can't get the full menu. The two-bedroom apartment she was in was great. The one-bedroom was much smaller and we couldn't move everything that she was using in the two-bedroom to the one-bedroom. The one-bedroom was more like a room that they were renting out every now and then for people who are only in town for two weeks or a month. It was fine for her. Mom participated in committees and almost all of what they're offering and took advantage of the activities. She's stopped doing that over the last few years or so. The way Brookdale handled coronavirus and the lockdowns was superb. They have not had any deaths attributed to coronavirus in either the staff or the residents, and in the other 16 or so locations that Brookdale has in the state of North Carolina.

My mom is in Brookdale North Raleigh. It's very nice. They're very good. There are all kinds of services. Unfortunately, COVID has cut back on the type of activities that they can do, but the people are very nice and very helpful. Right now, they play bingo, they do some fitness classes like chair exercises, and they have a bible study sort of thing in the morning. They're not playing games other than bingo and they're socially distanced with that. Otherwise, they're doing the best they can. The food is great. I wish I ate that well. There are things that could be better, but it is a very good situation.

My visit at Brookdale North Raleigh was great. We just like everything about it, I couldn't find anything wrong with it. The kitchen areas were really nice. We had a meal there that was very good, well-planned and served. It was nice. They also have a little library, I like the little outdoor area that they have. Plus it's convenient to our doctors, convenient to the grocery store and the bank that we used. I couldn't say enough good things about it, it was very good. We talked to some of the people over there, and we have a good friend who lives there.

We're going into Brookdale North Raleigh. It's independent living and they have everything there that we could use. We're going to be on the third floor, so we're going to be up away from the noise, which is a plus. We have the things we need on our floor. We have a Laundromat, the elevator is just a few steps awau, and it's a quiet corner, so we like that. There were a lot of people sitting around and chatting. We were shown the library and all the amenities. The staff sat down with us and went through what we hadn't gone through yet. We saw some people eating. They had a little cafe in the hallway where you can sit down and order off things like breakfast menus. The staff was very nice. I can do physical therapy there and they have a pool, so I can do aerobics. They have a place where people can go to draw and I love to draw. My husband is excited about the pool table and all the men there. We were able to get a two-bedroom with a balcony.

My mother was at Brookdale North Raleigh. Her room was very nice. They have quite a lot of activities like puzzles, entertainment, and different trips scheduled. They have a library, a hair salon, and a place where some of the residents were doing painting. She was only there for two weeks. However, there was a high lack of communication with the management and a lack of willingness to communicate.

I’ve been to Brookdale (Brookdale North Raleigh). The community was really nice, but they said they’re not certified for assisted living and there may be an long-term insurance issue. They said they would send me a copy of the license so I can check it with my insurance company, but they never did. I spoke to them again, and they still never did, so I got the impression they were playing me. Brookdale is a great facility. They had a swimming pool and very specific arts and crafts room.

Brookdale North Raleigh stood out because the people who lived there that we saw in the lobby were planning on going somewhere. You could tell there were lots of little groups, and it seemed like there were lots of friendships being made in this place. They had a swimming pool, which my mom wanted. From the outside, it didn't look impressive and we were kind of dreading it, but once you get inside, it was really nice. They had birds that they were taking care of, art classes, and a place to have a happy hour. Residents were making puzzles, and it just seemed more active than the other ones that we went to. The staff was kind, informative, and not pushy, which was nice. The guy that we saw knew people in the lobby, and I don't know if he was talking to them to impress us, but he knew people and talked to them, which was impressive. They had a choice of a screened-in porch or a sunroom, which were nice options that you could choose from. They were pretty typical of all the places we went to except for the detail of having those options.

I already moved to Brookdale. I have only been here for a few weeks, and the staff appear to be excellent. The apartments are very nice. The walls are painted, and they have carpets. I have a one-bedroom apartment. It has nice carpet. It is very clean and very bright. However, I am not really impressed with the food. They can improve on their food. Brookdale North Raleigh was gorgeous. It was beautiful. It was some place I would love to be, but I couldn't afford their prices. However, everything that she showed me was very nice. The staff was wonderful. They were really sweet. There was a misunderstanding about me being there. I thought I should have been at another place, and I came unexpected, but they jumped right into the situation and showed me everything that I would enjoy. The things that really stood out were the dining room and the pool. I loved the idea of having a pool. I wasn't that crazy about the traffic out on the street, but when you were in the apartment, you wouldn't hear any street noise, and I loved that. I had a little dog, and they hada beautiful place to walk your dog. I just felt like I walked into a grand hotel. I was not into carpet, but the carpet that they had was high grade, and it made you feel like that you were in a fine hotel.

My mother is at Brookdale. She has been there probably three and a half years to four years now. Brookdale is very nice. It is clean. The lobby is very nice. I've eaten there quite a bit, and the food is decent. The apartments are nice. They're average size. My mother has a one-bedroom, one-bath. It is adequate. It has a full kitchen. She is 90, so for her, it is just fine. The staff is very nice and very accommodating. They're really caring about the residents. They get involved with them. They do a lot of cook-offs -- e.g., like around the holidays, they'll do a pie contest and they'll do a chili cook-off. They do a lot of different things. The dining room is very clean and very spacious. The food is adequate. They have the beauty parlor. They have the in-house doctor that they can call and come in. I'm impressed by the general layout of the location. It is convenient to where my sister lives. Security seems adequate.

At Heritage of Raleigh, they all appeared luxurious and nice, but the halls were so far to walk, and that's a problem. I don't like to walk to do laundry, so we would prefer a laundry in our apartment. Those two were the big things. Everybody was fine, the people were all very lovely, and we haven't met people that would be objectionable.

My mother lived at the Heritage until she needed more assistance that they could provide. When she first moved there the food was pretty good. It continued to get worse and worse as time went on. My husband and I would eat with her from time to time just to see how it was. And trust me it was bad. This past New Years Eve we went over and ate with her and mine was so bad, I could not finish it. The next day I emailed the director and told him of my experience and my concern, because mom did not want to eat there. I got NO response at all. We moved her to another facility a couple of months later because the level of care she needed was just not doable the way they are set up. Some of the staff are very good and there are some that aren't. There were only a couple of the CNA's that were good to mom, the rest were just so-so at best.

My personal experience at The Heritage Raleigh has been very rewarding for the past 6-1/2 years. Instead of narrowing my focus, it has expanded my horizon. Before coming here, I had never painted before. Now, thanks to a latent talent and a good teacher, I enjoy painting each week. I have expanded my repertoire of playing the piano to the point where I can entertain the residents. Moreover, thanks to a wonderful staff, I enjoy a peace of mind that I did not have before coming here and that is having a positive effect on my overall health. My family is very appreciative of the harmonious atmosphere created by the staff. For all these reasons I can highly recommend The Heritage Raleigh as an Independent Living Community.

Heritage of Raleigh is a nice place and the people are pleasant. However, my husband's aunt has been there for 7 years and she complains repeatedly about the food that it's cold or whatever. They don't respond quickly to her requests, however, she's 90 years old and she becomes a pain in the area. She has 24/7 access to aides which she pays on a separate bill from the room and board. They're not overly responsive but then again, she's a crotchety 90 year old. So I wouldn't downgrade the facility all that much.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My husband's aunt is in Heritage of Raleigh for seven years now. She's in a nice and roomy studio apartment. They have activities like bingo, cross word puzzles and they have an indoor pool. However, she's not satisfied. She's diabetic and they do not cater for special menus. She gets the same meal week after week. She has aides 24 hours, 7 days a week and sometimes she gets someone who is rude. But by enlarge they are okay.

I visited this facility

I visited Heritage of Raleigh, which was in my area. The rooms were very clean and nice. The people were very friendly and I liked the fact that it had a lot of activities. It had a pool. It had a game room. It had a billiard room. It had a cafe and a number of nice amenities.

I visited this facility

I visited Heritage of Raleigh but they did not have anything available at that moment. I thought the place was very nice, I liked the appearance of the dining room. However, I did not like the way the laundry rooms were situated. The staff were accommodating when i went there. They showed me the apartment, I thought the rooms were small and the kitchens could use a little renovation. They also showed me the gym, exercise room, swimming pool and cafe where you bought lunch. But at the time of my visit, I did not saw anyone doing anything.

I visited this facility

Heritage of Raleigh was very nice. The facility was clean. Their rooms were very nice. With regard to their staff, as far as I can tell, they seemed fine to me. It looked like they care about their patients. It was a beautiful facility but way too expensive for me.

We have been extremely pleased with the services provided by the Heritage. I would give it 10 stars if I could. The food is great and there are a lot of activities and entertainment. Most importantly, the staff is genuinely caring, compassionate and attentive. We could not have asked for a better place for my father. I have recommended to several friends that the Heritage is the best place for any relative to live.

We chose The Heritage partly because we talked to one of the advisors from Caring.com and they seemed to be more available to provide assistance for my mother in law. The place is very nice and they had rooms available. Their aides were always available and my mother-in-law likes it a lot. We've eaten there several times and their food was very good.

There is always something happening at the Heritage - from guest musicians to ice cream socials, it seems like there's lots to do. The facilities remind me of an upscale hotel, and the apartments are cozy. The staff is extremely kind and accommodating. My grandmother enjoys living here, and I'm happy knowing that she's in a great place.

The Heritage of Raleigh is a true diamond in the rough. It isn't just a retirement home, it's a community and you can feel that when you walk through the doors. From the incredible facilities, to the outstanding staff, to the multitude of opportunities for activities, there is nothing the Heritage leaves in limbo. The Heritage has a huge pat on the back from me for their truly amazing contributions to so many seniors lives.

I visited this facility

I really enjoy visiting this facility. The dining room is massive and gives you the feeling like you are going to be dining with royalty! The meals are as if you are dining at a five star place! The meals are superb and the cuisine is the best in the triad. The staff is very respectful to both residents and visitor's. While there, staff take moments of their time to make sure each resident gets one on one time. I saw a social worker use her own personal money to treat a resident to an ice cream treat! These "small" acts of kindness are a regular activity at this facility.

Friend or relative of resident

I recently visited this facility to deliver flowers to a friend and really liked the setup. While mostly an independent living facility, I was glad to learn that they also offer 24 hour monitoring, wonderful dining options, a nice fitness center and a pool and sauna. They contract locally to provide assisted living services for residents while recovering from an illness or hospitalization and they have a wellness clinic on the campus. I sat in the café for a while with my friend and noticed that the staff was very helpful and showed a level of care and compassion not often seen at some facilities. The facility was very neat and clean and had a calendar of events that looked packed with fun things to do. I really liked this facility and would be glad to recommend it to others looking for a place to retire.
