Brookdale Redwood City had a wonderful cafeteria and wonderful food. They had outdoor places for their residents. They had a good member of staff. They had medical people available. The rooms were quite small. There's a small kitchen galley on the left. You've got your bathroom on the right. The kitchen was just like a bar, so there wasn't a separate room. It had a full bathroom with a shower. There was a little living room. And then there was a bedroom, which was about the size of the living room but slightly smaller with a closet and all that. Because there's a lot of activity and the whole complex is pretty big. I think most people spend their time in the dining room, living room, and other areas. There were places outside to sit. There were places near the pool to sit. I was impressed with the dining room and other activities because they had a pool, classes going on, etc. I saw a menu, and I saw people eating, and they seemed to have a good variety of healthy foods.

We had a meal at Brookdale Redwood City and that was very nice. There was some entertainment, and that was good, too, but we felt that it was too big. It's a really big place and one of the bigger ones around, maybe the biggest. We felt that that was a little bit overwhelming. The dinners were served in shifts, not everybody at the same time because of the size. The price was sort of borderline as to what we possibly could afford. We needed to be looking at low-end places, but we liked the meal and we liked some of the people that we met there. It's quite a positive experience. Cleanliness and upkeep seemed fine. The apartments seemed a little small for us. I know when you move into a retirement home, you have to expect that. They had like seven libraries there. Where we ate was in a library. At least one wall had books on it, so that would be something that would be important for us. I saw the independent and there are different levels of assisted living. If you need help with medicine or help with dressing and or bathing, you would add them in as needed. You wouldn't have to go from non-assisted living to assisted living and have the whole package. The person who assisted me during the visit was great.

We are in the process of moving my dad to Brookdale Redwood City. What he liked best was the courtyard and just the ability to be not just inside the building, but the feeling that he had someplace to go outside to enjoy nature. It didn't feel like living in an apartment in the city or whatever. The staff who gave the tour was very energetic and very nice. We saw several rooms there. They're very spacious. Some had larger balconies, and some had smaller balconies. He ate lunch there and he said it was good. I was there, but I had to do some work while he was eating lunch with some of the residents and with the tour person. The dining area looked very pleasant, very nice, and very airy. In terms of activities, we saw that water aerobics was being done. There was also bingo, movies, and different things. There's a variety of things that would interest him.

Brookdale Redwood City seemed to be the most reasonably priced compared to other places. The staff was very friendly. The person that gave me the tour knew what he was doing and he gave me all the information. I liked the place very much because it had everything that an elderly person would need. It was an older building, and it wasn't too fancy. The cooker and fridge in the apartment were a little bit outdated. They had a nice indoor pool, and they had some exercise equipment. I loved their dining room area and the little reading nooks that they had around the building. The backyard was very colorful and very well taken care of.

We went to visit Brookdale Redwood City. I was shocked that as you walked in the door, the smell hits you in the face. It was a huge facility. It smelled terrible. I almost threw up because the stench was horrible. I couldn't believe how much it smelled. Then when we went inside the facility, it smelled like poop. I had to get out of there. I wouldn't put my dog in that place. I hate to say this, but I feel so strongly about it. It does not match the website. The front desk person was very unfriendly. The person who gave the tour was new, but good. Their rooms were rundown. They had a library. They had an outdoor pool, but it should be condemned. No one should swim in there. Their workout room was small. The whole place was awful.

I've toured Brookdale Redwood City, it's nice. Because they have four buildings and only one area to eat, we wouldn't really know where my parents would be placed. So if they were stuck in Building 4, which is the last one, they would have to walk very far to get to the cafeteria or dining room. So it was kind of a little disappointing that each unit didn't have its own dining area, that was the only thing that was kind of a drawback. The staff who gave the tour was informative, he showed us all the different types of units and apartments that are a possibility for my parents. He was a really nice person, he let us know everything that they have going on. They mentioned that there was a little garden where some people were, and each kind of building had an area full of books, they showed them playing cards, and they showed them having classes for dancing and exercise. They also had a swimming pool that they can use. Their dining area looked good, they said there were people who will come and serve you. I didn't really see too many people out there trying to serve people, but it could have been a slow time. The dining area was big, it was a good size, and big enough for whoever needed to go down there. There'd always be space.

The tour I had at Brookdale Redwood City was good. I feel like the pricing is a little bit different than was quoted (maybe a little higher). They provide meals, but they require the residents to come down and get them. You pay extra to have the meals brought up to your room, which would have been an issue for us. The staff was very helpful. They packaged a meal for me to take home so I could taste the meal. That was nice. The rooms were fine. The kitchens were better than the one my aunt is at. It was almost like an island kitchen and it had some more space, so I was happy with it. They don't usually have stoves for assisted living and they're usually not furnished. There were multiple activities that they talked about. There were some outside areas where people can go, chat, or eat their meals.

I toured Brookdale Redwood City for my aunt. It was nice and clean. The staff member who helped me was really good at explaining things and her verbal communication was good. The residents and the staff were friendly. I saw people sitting in an open area, and they were all mingling together. I loved the one-bedroom and the studio room that I saw. If I had to pick a place for myself, it would definitely be one on my list. They had a lot of activities available like music entertainment and shopping on Fridays. They had a beauty salon, a barber shop, and a lot of other places where the residents could do things.
