I visited this facility

I chose an apartment at Holiday Eastdale Estates. Everything was good. They have all the conveniences that I would need, and I liked the fact that they prepare all the meals. Everything they have there is really great for elderly people. I really liked it. It's a nice place. I had lunch there the day I went to have the tour. I met the chef and all the ones in the kitchen. The food was delicious. I didn't find anything I didn't like out there. The staff was wonderful. I went there about 11:00, and I left there about 2:00 in the afternoon, so I was there for quite a while.

My sister will be moving to Holiday Eastdale Estates. I think the place is all good, the staff and residents were also really good. Their grounds look good, the building looks well-maintained and everything seemed to be manicured quite well. We looked at the dining area, and it also looked really good. I didn't see any negatives, everything was pretty positive, and it's just a positive environment. She signed a lease for a studio apartment there, it's got a large room about 400 square foot unit. It had a bathroom, shower, a small kitchenette, space for a bed, and a small living area. The particular unit she got doesn't have a balcony but it has windows, one wall was pretty much all windows. It's just a small unit that's adequate for one person. They offered us a meal and that we could stay for supper, but we did not.

I liked Holiday Eastdale Estates. I liked the staff, and all the residents said they loved it, and they knew it was going to be where they die. They were playing cards, they were playing cornhole, and they go to the casino once a week. The room looked like a one-bedroom apartment. My friend is not that mobile, so that's all he needs. It had a nice landscape. I knew they had a bus. I just liked the whole thing, everybody was friendly, and everybody seemed happy there.

My stepmother and I toured Holiday Eastdale Estates. The staff who assisted us was very friendly and very helpful. It seemed like all of the people that were there were very positive. They kept saying how good the food was. But I felt like the carpet looked kind of dirty and the building needed to be repainted. Other than that, everything was fine. She said they had bingo night and they had football gatherings when their football game was on. Most of the people would come down and watch the game together. They did have a piano down in the dining area. The rooms were all kind of set up differently. They had the studio room, the 1-bedroom apartment, and the 2-bedroom apartment. The ones that we saw were all kind of different. It was interesting. My stepmother took the brochures and was looking around, and she said she loved the menu that they had.

I've been in Holiday Eastdale Estates for two years now. I like this facility a lot because we can have our dog. Most of everything here is good except for the food, although I'm sure it's hard to make a bunch of people happy with the same food. We've just been bought out by Atria, and all the new people that have come in have been very nice. All the staff has been good. It's a little older and could use a little freshening up, but everything is kept pretty clean and neat except for the inside of our apartments and that's kind of an individual thing. There's a nice area around the building where you can walk the dogs and sit outside. We get apartment cleaning once a week. The laundry facilities are on each floor, although I think it would be better if you could have a stackable washer and dryer in each apartment. They have music bingo and trivia, and I like those. Usually after breakfast until supper, there is something in the activity room going on. I highly recommend the facility.

I had an in-person tour of Eastdale Estates. I was very pleased with their menus, the staff's attentiveness, and the features that the community offers for independent living. They need to improve the condition of their facilities. They have a beauty shop. They provide transportation for their residents five days a week in the form of an available bus that they can sign up for. They had two chefs that worked there, and we discussed the menu and the needs. They are willing to make changes to the menu if necessary.

My father moved into Eastdale Estates last Friday. The location is friendly or conveniently located. Very well kept, very, very attentive. They have socials. They have dedicated eating areas if you've chosen to do so. It's a very comfortable environment. The staff is friendly.

My mother-in-law is in Eastdale Estates. It has been a good place for her. My parents lived in Eastdale Estates back in the 1990s, so I've been associated with them now for a second time with my mother-in-law. She's been there about five years now. She has a studio apartment and it's adequate for her. They have housekeeping, and they provide meals in the dining room. They have an activities director. They don't do personal laundry, but they do laundry sheets and towels and that goes along with the housekeeping. They have a maintenance person that takes care of little problems that come up. The chef has been there for 18 years. They provide pretty good meals and a balanced diet. She could get to the dining room in a wheelchair, but since her stroke, she coughs a lot and drools a lot. What they do, is a caregiver can come to the kitchen at a certain time, three times a day, and they will have a boxed lunch that you've selected from the menu and then you could return that reusable plastic or Tupperware box back to the kitchen. The caregiver is responsible for getting it since it's independent living. We are also responsible for doing her own laundry and we have to bathe her and everything. Normally if you're living there, you don't have that, but they allow us during this period. We'll probably move to an assisted living within the next month or two. I'm not looking forward to the move, because she's used to where she lives and she likes her room, but the caregiving is taking its toll. My parents lived there when they were my age.

The neighborhood at Eastdale Estates is not that great. The staff that we talked to wasn't very knowledgeable. The facility was OK.

Eastdale Estates needs upgrading. It's not that I couldn't live there, but I wouldn't choose to live there. The staff was excellent -- I give her 100% -- but I'm not impressed with their accommodations. The apartments needed upgrading. I just toured some of the apartments, and I didn't go into the main dining area. It's fine, but it's in a bad section of town; there's too much crime in that area. After I went into the apartment, I was not interested any further.

Provider Response

Hello Connie, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your experience at our community. We regret to hear that we were not the perfect fit for you at this time. We will take this feedback and look for ways to better our community for residents and team members. Thank you

We decided on Eastdale Estates for my dad. He is going to do a respite there. From my experience, they were fantastic; they were organized; they were COVID-conscious, which we appreciated; the facility was very nice; they were helpful; and they were really great to work with.

Our experience here has been very good. The staff always speak kind words when passing by and seem to really care for the people who live here. There are activities available for those who chose to do so. Three meals are prepared daily. Rooms are cleaned weekly. Of course with the Pandemic, things are different as residents are pretty much to their rooms. I am very pleased how strict the policies are with reference to mandatory masks and procedures required before entering the building. My mother feels safe here and I am happy knowing that she is happy being here.

I like Eastdale Estates because it's in a good location, it's near where I live presently, it's convenient for my family and close to my church. My banking facilities and my hospital are also near the community. The appearance of the place was very good, it's one building and I would be able to get a groundfloor unit with a small patio. And I have a small dog that I'm allowed to take with me. I know they have a workout room. The staff who gave me the tour was very knowledgeable and friendly, it was like she's one of us. It was a very family-type atmosphere. They have invited me to try the food but everything is on hold because of the virus.

I visited Eastdale Estates. It was OK but it didn't meet my aunt's needs. The person who accommodated us during the tour was nice, knowledgeable and helpful. The apartments were actually a little bigger compared to the ones in the community we picked. They had different room sizes, and the dining hall looked fine. When I first stepped inside, I was surprised because they had live birds in a cage. It was nice. Overall, the community looked fine and the people there seemed happy. I saw some residents doing laundry as well.

Provider Response

Thank you for letting us show you around our beautiful community. We are sad we are not the perfect fit for your aunt's need. We are happy you found a place that suits her. If anything ever changes please let us know!

Everything at Eastdale Estates was excellent, very friendly, clean, and the apartments were very pretty. They served three meals a day and had crafts, Netflix that you can go and watch together, barber shop, and hair studio. Everything was clean and spotless. The studio was perfect, freshly painted, really pretty, and had windows that you could look out of. It was very nice. The staff was excellent. I was greeted by everyone that I met and saw there.

Eastdale Estates is a lovely and well-kept place. It's independent living so they don't provide a lot, but they provide meals and a housekeeping service. You have to bring your own furniture.

I liked everything about Eastdale Estates. The people were friendly and knowledgeable, and the residents were very friendly and nice. They were all doing something constructive so people were not hiding in their rooms; one went out to exercise while we were there. It was great. I had all of my questions answered and had everything I needed. The staff member was wonderful and took us all around to show us every place. They are serving three meals a day, and I know they do snacks. I bake at Christmas, and I was told that they would assign me a part in the kitchen where I could bake and do things that I like to do. They had a hairdresser and a person who would come to do their fingernails, plus transportation on certain days for medical and for taking you to church or to visit somebody. It was a full-sized, well-run, well-kept, and clean facility, where everybody was happy.

I visited Eastdale Estates. They had a bus, and once a day, they would take everybody to Wal-Mart or shopping to give them a chance to go out. Everybody had church on Sundays. It was perfect. I loved that place. We were looking at a one-bedroom with a living room and kitchen. It would fit my mother perfectly and hold a fold-out sofa, a couple of chairs, a desk, and a couple stand tables, which was all she would need. We would have to down-size her to a regular bed instead of her king-sized bed. They were OK with my mom having a dachshund. The room that we had chosen for her had an outside door that led to a little grassy area.

I visited Eastdale Estates and their rooms were nice. In fact, they had several sizes of rooms. It was a three-storey facility with elevators and they were nice. The staff was very nice. It was just very hustle-bustle and that was the main thing that really turned us off because I felt that there was too much activity all the time for my mother-in-law. It would be too much confusion for her. The dining area there was very nice because it was open in the center and it's very airy. It's on the second level.

Eastdale Estates have apartments, but don’t have a bedroom; they have 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments. They have a calendar of activities like transportation if you want to use this, they have exercise classes, a library, bingo, and they have a movie room with a huge TV for you can watch movies. They have managers on the ground 24/7, so you can always get a hold on someone. It’s clean, and I would certainly recommend the facility.

We already found one for my parents. They’re at Eastdale Estates. They’re a very family-oriented type of facility. They have great activities. They actually have Bingo; they play cards; and they often do exercises in the morning. It’s an older facility so it could help if they could update the appearance. However, I like the management of the staff best.

I found Eastdale Estates real nice. Everybody was friendly, the place was really clean, up to date, and it has a good environment. I looked at both the single and 2-bedrooms, and they were well-kept. The facility looks brand new, but it's 20 years old. The dining room was like a restaurant you might visit. The staff was very helpful, knowledgeable, the kind I would like in work. They had exercise programs and musical groups that came in periodically.

I toured 2 or 3 places but Eastdale Estates is the most convenient for me. What I like most about this place is it's near Eastdale Mall. And they have transportation when you go to different places. They've got a wonderful staff as well. Food is excellent. They have a lot of activities – all types of games, do different travelling and that kind of stuff. I guess they have a standard room, I didn't pay too much attention to that.

I was at Eastdale Estates for about a year. I was probably at one of the largest room that they had because I had 3 wheelchairs, so it was very comfortable. I had my own little stove, refrigerator, and microwave. It was a very nice place. One of the best.
