The Fountains at Greenbriar was really nice. It has furniture everywhere to sit in for guests. Right off of the entry there's a large kitchen area where you can go in and eat, and they have three meals a day. It's got three floors and you take the elevator up. It's got all kinds of places for you to entertain your family. It's got a weight room, exercise equipment, a pool table, and a theater for you to watch movies and to be entertained by people coming in. It's just really nice. I really liked it. They have three different floor plans. They have two-bedrooms, one-bedrooms, and a studio. The staff member during the tour was really nice. He was the manager there. I just went in over there one day and wanted to talk to somebody, and he helped me and showed me around the whole building. They even have a laundry thing there where you put your laundry in a bag on your door, they come around and pick it up and collect it, and then bring it back to you when it's done. They have a beauty salon there. I thought it was really good. I wouldn't mind being there when I get ten years older. We tried a piece of cake, and it was really good.

A loved one is moving into The Fountains at Greenbriar. It wasn't the cheapest nor was it the most expensive. The location is good and our loved one was very interested in all the amenities. They have a fitness center and a nice dining hall. They have happy hour, movies, and a movie room, and you can get popcorn before you go in. They were interested in the fact that he did some painting and was interested in Bible study and played the saxophone. So, they are encouraging the residents to share their hobbies and special talents. And he liked that, too. The meal was very good. When we were there, they were still working on the pandemic model where they were given two choices of food. You walk through like it's a buffet. But when they go back to the regular choice, then you will get a menu and you'll be able to choose what you want. But while we were there, I had the Cordon Bleu chicken. We had vegetables, salad, and choices for everything. There were at least two choices for each type of food. And then we had a pie for dessert, ala mode. And there are kinds of different drinks. One of the things that we were impressed with was the staff. When we ran into the staff and the residents, they were all so friendly and introduced themselves and it just looked like a nice community. To add, we like the fact that there was covered parking for his vehicle. There is also a picnic area so you can have family there and there are rooms that you could use if you have a party with family that you could not have in your apartment. They're going to clean up the apartment before he goes in. They're going to put new carpet, so, it just looks like they were cognizant of all the things that people might want. It just looked like a good place. Greenbrier is also very close to his doctor at the St Luke's East location. That was another thing he liked that it would be very close, and they would be able to take him there if he needed to go and couldn't drive himself.

I went to The Fountains at Greenbriar for an overnight stay, just to see how you liked it. The facility was nice. They had you in a bedroom and a living room. It was a nice little apartment. It had a couch, a chair, and a bed. They have activities and an activities director. They have a lot of stuff going on. It's a very busy place. It had a salon and a bar. It just wasn't for me. It was too expensive for what it was. The staff was pleasant and friendly. The food was more like restaurant style. You have a menu you pick your meals from, and you have a choice of two or three things. They have a courtyard, patios, and balconies. The outdoors was spacious.

The Fountains at Greenbriar was a very nice place. It's old and they didn't have a personal washer-dryer or a dishwasher. The people that I came in contact with were very nice though and the food was always good (I've been there several times). I have known people that stayed there and it's always nice and clean. They have a full calendar of activities including exercise classes, games, and a vehicle that takes you on trips or to doctor's appointments.

My sister lives at The Fountains at Greenbriar. They check in on the people that live there every day. They provide meals and transportation for their doctor's appointments most of the time. Yesterday we took her, but most of the time they do. They do light housekeeping. She likes it there for the most part. The main thing that is bad for the people who live there is that they raise their rates every year. They're on fixed incomes and their income doesn't rise every year, so that really hurts them. Sometimes with transportation, they've got a lot of people to transport; it's kind of tough. That's why sometimes we have to help her out on certain things in certain days they can't go or whatever. The transportation is fairly good, but not perfect. Everybody there seems to be friendly and pretty professional. My sister is extremely picky with the food. I had Thanksgiving dinner there the other night, and it was very good. On the day-to-day basis, I would say the food is a 3 from her opinion. The facility itself is good. COVID kind of did away with a lot of activities, but they're starting to do some stuff now. They have a thrift store. The bad part about it is that they raise the rates every year, no matter what. I think, kind of bad for the people there.

We toured The Fountains at Greenbriar. It's not a good fit for us because every single need -- every time that you need the staff -- it is another charge, so if you need help getting your socks on, for example, it's $7.50. If you need help with the shower, it's ten dollars. And so we were kind of nervous. What if my aunt called them ten times in one day and then it was like two-hundred dollars? Everything that you need help with is more money. It's independent living, not assisted living, and so we kind of got nervous that maybe we needed more medical care than what they could provide. Those rooms are very small, too, like the smallest I've ever seen. The kitchen is not not a workable arrangement. We really only talked to one lady. She was great. She was the director, or whoever is responsible for getting new families in there. Some parts of it seemed outdated, like they just put fresh paint on something outdated instead of making it look new. They were serving their residents alcohol, so I thought it was pretty cool. It was cocktail hour when we were there, so I thought that was amazing. They do transportation; you just have to schedule it in advance. They have a theater and a library. That one is the absolute closest to my mom, and my mom wants to be close to her sister. Also, my aunt said a lady from church lives there, so if her friends from church say The Fountains at Greenbriar is nice, we thought maybe we should take a look at it.
