I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad moved to Holiday Lincoln Square and the food is very good. They have great meals. They have a good medical team there. They have a lot of activities. They have a library, some workout facilities, treadmills, and lots of friendly people. They are very accommodating. I have no complaints at all. They have aerobics and church services, and they have a shuttle. They have an Elvis impersonator for entertainment. I've had many meals there with my dad. Salmon is very good, meatloaf, chicken salad, and chicken a la king. If you don't want the main menu, they always have sandwiches, croissants, pizza, ham, and cheese. The value for money is $2800 including the food, room, and board. They have a cleaning once or twice a week free. As a value, phenomenal.

Our loved one has been at Lincoln Square for one year. The staff has always been cheerful and positive, dedicated to creating a caring climate in many ways. It’s a warm atmosphere with many activities so that residents can choose to participate in weekly concerts, outings, crafts, bingo and other events led by their outstanding activities director. The housekeeping staff and maintenance person is kind, caring and dedicated to the residents; they go above and beyond in their work. The administrators are very responsive and helpful. The dining staff is very well mannered and hard working. The dining menu is varied with very good meal choices every day. While the facilities needs some updating such as newer toilets and carpets, the place is clean and well cared for. A working gas fireplace in the dining room would be a definite plus. Our loved one has been happy to live at Lincoln Square where she is in a comfortable apartment and has made many friends. We feel very glad she’s in a safe and beautiful space near our home.

We moved my brother in law from Pittsburgh PA to Lincoln Square Independent living facility last July. We have been extremely happy with the staff and facility! Very caring, kind people!

My brother is a current resident of Holiday by Atria and this is his home, his safe place, his extended family. My brother enjoys the meals, activities and the comradery with other residents and staff. The staff is very professional and always respectful and willing to help in any way. I would highly recommend Holiday by Atria.

Can't say enough good things about Lincoln Square in Grand Rapids, the quality of services received for the monthly rental price is unmatched in my opinion. The staff is always welcoming, three meals a day with so many choices provided, there is something for everyone, activities almost daily for residents, bus service to local stores and so many more services provided. I couldn't be happier that my father is in such a great place.

Shannon at Holiday Lincoln Square was fabulous. She took as much time as we needed for my Mom and I to tour the facility and answer all our questions. We also came for lunch and it was very welcoming.

Lincoln Square met all of my mom’s requirements. The staff is very caring and works very hard to meet the needs of residents. At times they are understaffed, yet band together to fill voids when necessary. The current chefs are doing an outstanding job. I appreciate the amenities, even though my mom is reluctant to participate in or use many of them.

I have a family member who is a veteran and has some mental difficulties as well as physical. The staff is very patient, kind and helpful in many ways, providing him with the kind of care he no longer can receive at home due to aging parents. This facility is very beneficial to help and remain as independent as possible..

Although my moms health declined before we could use this facility, Shanon gave me a great tour and was so helpful with information and follow up to do everything they could to help me and my mom. I will be forever grateful for her thoughtfulness.

I love Lincoln Square! They treated my Mom and I like family. I got updates via emails and texts, they took time to answer all of my questions and the level of care and support they gave my Mom was above and beyond what I ever expected. I honestly can not say enough good things about our time there, sadly my Mom has had to transition to a memory care facility so we are not there anymore. I truly love Lincoln Square

I only met a couple of staff members when I was touring Holiday Lincoln Square, and I was impressed with their staff. They seemed cheerful, kind, and informative. The facility itself was good. It was not as new as the other facility, but they had lovely rooms with either a balcony or a patio and nice windows. The rooms that I toured were well cared for. They had a very small kitchen, but there was no oven there. The view was very lovely, and it was wooded. The grounds and dining area were nice. The dining room was two stories, and it was in the center of the building, so the sound just bounced all over the place. I knew my mom would struggle because she has hearing loss but refuses to wear hearing aids, and I thought she would struggle to make conversation there. All the residents that I met and spoke to were very positive and seemed very happy. I saw an exercise group and some areas that residents could use for chapel. The facility was older, so it was a little more rundown. But for what they had and for what they charged, I felt like it would be a good bargain for someone.

My mother-in-law will be moving into Holiday Lincoln Square. We brought her down here with my husband, brother-in-law, and his wife. They reserved us a table and invited us to join her for lunch. We had an excellent meal. People that were in the community came up to speak with her. The tour was awesome. We love the building because it's airy. It's got a lot of activities for her. She's a very active senior and has not been able to be active in the last two years because of her mobility. Getting in a car and driving into the senior center was not convenient for her. This place has everything. It's got a beauty salon, a chapel, and a library; she loves to read. They have a wonderful activity director that was very welcoming. She found out that my mother-in-law knows how to play hand, foot, and elbow. She'd never heard of that and was really interested in having her share the rules and teach other people. When we came in to move things, they were doing chair exercises. It was just a very welcoming community. They had a refreshed bar that always had hot water, coffee, decaf coffee, and the little tracts that my mother-in-law likes to read, the little religious tracts that were available to anyone that would want to read them. The mailbox was close, it was convenient. The laundry rooms were clean. The whole room she's going to move into is bright, cheery, and beautiful. There wasn’t anything we did not like about it except they don't have a freight elevator to be moving furniture up. That's going to be difficult because we're not young, and moving these things is not going to be easy. But we'll manage because we'd like to get her in there. Other than that, the staff was courteous, they were welcoming, and they answered questions. It just was a good experience. The dining area is beautiful and very nice. People came and welcomed her. The staff was wonderful. The woman that came up and took our order also does housekeeping. We met her in the hall, and she brought some towels and bedding for my mother-in-law. They were not only welcoming, but informative, and willing to answer any questions that we would have. The food was excellent. They gave me a couple different choices of the food. It's just like a five-star hotel.

Lincoln Square was very friendly and had a warm atmosphere. There was a lot of security too because when we went in there, I had to answer some questions, they took my picture, and I also had a name tag. I was surprised but very grateful for it because they don't just let anyone in. The carpeting was outdated, and that was kind of a big turnoff, but the person who assisted me also said that another company had bought them out and they were going to be spending, I don't know if she said $1 million or $3 million on renovations and I liked that. I think once they do the renovations, it will be nice. We saw pictures all over the residence. As we were walking along, people were asking me questions like if I was planning on living there, or moving there soon, and a few others. They were very personable. There's always something to do like you just want to sit in the main area and watch the people walk around and come in and out. There were a couple of them doing puzzles in an area and the rest of the activities. There's something for everyone. They don't have carports. They have a few garages, but very limited. Shannon, the person who assisted me, was great. She was commenting on a few of the clients there like, "Oh, he's home from the hospital." She also knew everyone by name and they said hi to her as we walked by. I did not try the food but she showed me the menu, and I loved that there were so many choices. There was the basic meal but you could also have a couple of other different choices, too and I liked that.

We chose Lincoln Square for mom. She will move in next year. It's affordable and it has lots of amenities for the price. It's beautiful and they have activities. In the building, they have a salon, they have a library, they have a TV room. They contract with a health care agency so that as someone needs more assistance, you can pay to have someone help them. The coordinator, Shannon, that we met with was excellent. They gave us a free, complimentary food coupon, but we're waiting for my mom. She doesn't live in my state right now, so she's coming here for the holidays and we're going to go bring her there and use the complimentary lunch or dinner coupon. We're going back this week to check it out again. They have an exercise class for seniors three days a week. They have occasional movies where they bring popcorn. They have bingo. They have special holiday meals. They have a calendar that they put out for their residents every month.

I am/was a resident of this facility

The overall experience my wife and I have while living here in Lincoln Square has been good. Our apartment is spacious, comfortable, and clean. The staff is very friendly, the food is absolutely fine, and they have several activities for the residents. They have bingo, card playing, and the veterans get together once every third Wednesday of the month to talk and have coffee. So, they have something going on every single day. It's quiet, convenient, and pleasant to look at. It's in an area that is surrounded by trees, so it has a country setting even though it's in the city. My wife and I love it here.

We toured Lincoln Square. It was all one building. It had an upstairs and downstairs; a second floor and a first floor. We only looked at a couple of rooms on the first floor. One room was nice and big. They offered free meals right there and I thought it was great. They had canvas painting while we were there, and I thought that was really neat. They were going to plant flowers the next day so they were setting up the room with the dirt and the little plants or flowers so that the residents could plant flowers. It was a nice facility. The rooms to me, the apartments, as they call them, I feel could have been a little bit bigger and a little bit better laid out. But again, you know. If you're older, how much room do you need? The staff was very nice and helpful as well. My parents were a little concerned about the price on that one, but she gave us another name of a facility and to call for them because she thought their prices would be a little bit less.

I did an in-person tour at Lincoln Square. It was very nice; I just don't think I'm ready for a place like that yet. I think it's very nice for people who are at a certain stage. It was independent living, but you don't really have a kitchen in your apartment; you just have a sink, a small refrigerator, and no stove. Basically, all your meals are prepared for you. I think for the amount of money that they charge and for the services they give, it's fair. It's also clean, and it seems to be well taken care of. The staff I met was very helpful, very courteous, informed, and pleasant. She also related well with the people who live there. The facility was small, but for somebody who isn't able to take care of a bunch of things themselves, it's probably pretty good.

Lincoln Square was higher-priced than the one my mother chose. The facility itself was dirty, COVID practices weren't being followed, and they were more expensive. The staff accommodated us, but we only met one person. They're not serving in the dining room because everybody in Michigan is in a state of lockdown. Those facilities are considered to be restaurants, so they can't serve in a normal setting, and have to deliver meals to the rooms. Their rooms don't have a full kitchen, there's no way to cook. The room that they said was ready for my mother, which they wanted her to move into, was dirty, the kitchen cabinets were broken, that kind of stuff.

Provider Response

Hi Don, thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. We regret to hear that you were not completely satisfied with your visit to our community. Our residents and associates both follow all protocols to keep each other safe. Due to the protocols put into place to ensure the safety of our residents, we understand that our operations looked quite different than they typically would when you visited. We hope to get the second chance to show you all our community has to offer. Thank you

My parents stayed at Lincoln Square. They brought their dinners to their room. It's beautiful in there, but they did not get to experience any of that because they were not allowed to leave their room and go into the rest of the building. Everybody was very friendly, nice, and accommodating. If they needed something, they were always willing to help them get what they needed. They did not like the food though.

Lincoln Square was clean and attractive. The staff and everybody was friendly with me. Everything that I saw was taken care of as needed. They have bingo and they were celebrating a birthday when I was there. The dining room was clean with separate tables that seat four people, and the wait staff was very attentive to the needs of everybody.

Lincoln Square was a very nice, homey, pleasant, and caring environment. The administration was very helpful, very caring and outgoing, and shared a lot of information with us. It's an absolutely beautiful place. I was totally impressed with everything. They've gone the extra mile contacting, checking on things, and visiting mom at her home. I felt like I was eating in a fancy restaurant. The food that they had prepared was awesome. The apartments looked wonderful. There was a little patio area on the main floor. The activity level that they had available for the seniors looked really accommodating as far as entertainment. They have music that comes in on Wednesdays and they have a lot scheduled going on for the people without overdoing it and making them feel overwhelmed. They do outings too.

Lincoln Square was the facility that I liked the most. It had a very lively setting. We were there at dinner hour, and it looked like the people were having a really nice time talking and chatting. The staff was very helpful and warm. We didn't choose to live there because it was a little far away for us, but I liked what they offered as far as in-apartment care for somebody who needed assisted living. I liked that each of them had a door leading to a balcony, and they had many different styles and sizes to choose from.

We went to Lincoln Square, which was very nice. The gentleman who I talked to was very helpful, delightful, and caring, and exactly who you would want to be working with. They have meals, but my mother doesn't want meals. That's a very big factor. However, we were very happy with this place. It was very clean, not too big, and had a nice layout. The people were very friendly. We had a meal that tasted good. We were very happy with the place. The location was good for us.

I thought Lincoln Square was a super place that offered a lot and was upbeat. The facility itself was very nice. The room was fine, but the living area was a bit smaller than most, especially for independent living. I thought the administrative staff was excellent, very attentive, and very understanding. However, I didn't like their dining setup and the way they serve in the dining room.

Lincoln Square is not the place I want to live. The people were not the kind with which we would like to associate. I just didn’t have a good feeling about the facility. Lincoln Square is a beautiful place in a beautiful setting, but small. The people were very polite, very willing to help, open, and loving. Everything was fine except for the size. They did an excellent job presenting themselves and representing their site. They provide three meals, but if they had a stove in each one of those units, that would be good.

I was looking for an independent living place and have gone to visit Lincoln Square. I would say that it was a very good place. I didn't observe any activities during my visit because I was there during lunchtime. Their food was good. The dining room had a beatiful setting, and the service was efficient. I saw the rooms during my tour and they were beautiful. The ones for singles seemed very small to me. The two-bedroom apartments were much nicer. I think that it was a very safe community. The people living there were happy, too. I would add that the place was very expensive. I also think that I am not yet old enough to live in that kind of place.

Lincoln Square was a fairly simple but very nice facility. That one for us was in a convenient location as it wasn't far from where my brother lives. It was strictly retirement living though. We ate lunch there and it was fine. The physical appearance of the place wasn't quite as nice maybe but I thought that the people there were really nice. The staff was very helpful. We also met a woman who was the head of activities and we discussed some of their activities going on there. She was really energetic. They have like olympic-type of games of some sort, beanbag toss, etc. Overall, they were doing a lot of different activities for their residents. In terms of engagement that was going on and activities, I would give it a high score. They were very good.

Lincoln Square looks like a hotel. It's a wood frame building and the inside is very nicely appointed, but I could not afford to live in that facility. I did see that they have some sort of a program where people sit around and listen to stuff. The person that was showing me was not comfortable with me being there because I was a minority. It was uneasy for him to show me around. Even I could afford the place I would not be comfortable living there.
